Not much spoiling info here, but she's a mother of two sons. Husband is a cop. She prosecutes suspected child abusers. Interesting description of herself: 'oversensitive, overprotective, overcautious."Source: a southern Cal. newspaper, the Press Enterprise. Link is at www.pe.com/digitalextra/stories/ census-.2002-0802-grand.html Care focus of new studyCHILDREN: Inland families mirror a trend of fathers and grandparents helping to watch preschoolers. BY JOHN WELSH THE PRESS-ENTERPRISE Grandparents are still in vogue and fathers are pulling their weight, too. Working moms with preschoolers are relying more on their parents and spouses to help provide day care, according to a U.S. Census Bureau study released Thursday. Nearly 22 percent of working mothers surveyed in 1997 used an organized center for their primary child-care needs, but that figure appears to have dropped slightly since 1993. Dads came in at 19 percent as the primary child-care source, followed by grandma and grandpa. The report, "Who's Minding the Kids? Child Care Arrangments," is the Census Bureau's first analysis of child-care arrangements specifically targeting working mothers with preschoolers from 1985 through 1997. Census officials noted the study isn't perfect. Changes in the survey design make comparisons difficult for recent years, and in 1995, the number of child-care response categories was expanded. Other differences that could have affected the numbers included comparing spring statistics with fall statistics for some years. Still, the Census Bureau claims that after fathers, grandparents are the leading child-care providers for preschoolers -- and that doesn't surprise working mothers such as Deena Bennett, a Riverside County deputy district attorney who specializes in prosecuting cases against those accused of abusing children. A sense of security Bennett and her husband, a police officer, rely on Bennett's mother, Joy Robinson, to help care for their boys, ages 4 and 15 months. For a couple that sees a lot of strife, Bennett makes no apologies for trusting her parents. "We don't trust anybody," said Bennett, 35. "I'm oversensitive, overcautious and overprotective. Parents provide a sense of comfort." *snipping rest of article--no other mentions of contestant* Published 8/2/2002

The following is off BoDog.com online gamling site. These same folks chose Brian as last seasons winner so they may be onto something.January 17 Survivor Amazon BoDog the first to go to the Amazon with Survivor 6 Odds
BoDog Sportsbook & Casino is proud to announce their long-standing tradition of being a leader in the offering of original bet types. With the cast for CBS' hit reality television show, Survivor, announced yesterday, BoDog Sportsbook and Casino has made Deena Bennett and JoAnna Ward the odds-on-favorites to outwit, outplay and outlast the other 15 competitors when the show begins February 13. Both women are currently listed at 3/1. For a complete set of odds for Survivor 6: Amazon, CLICK HERE! Bennett and Ward are two of the 16 competitors chosen for the sixth installment of Survivor. BoDog has offered odds on the previous four seasons and last season's odds-on-favorite, Brian Heidik, was the eventual winner. "With so many Americans tuned into this show it's almost a guarantee we'll offer odds," said Rob Gillespie, President of BoDog. "In terms of non-sporting events, it's one of the most watched competitive television events in the world. We're proud to be the first to offer this kind of unique product to our clients." Roger Sexton, from Valencia, CA, is the top-rated male contestant at 4/1. Odds are offered for all 16 contestants, but BoDog Book Managers have annointed the two women as the favorites. "We struggled to narrow it down to just one favorite," said Gillespie. "Both women possess everything a good Survivor should have - physical fitness, brains, and above all else, an ability to handle different situtations on the fly." Gillespie made special note of the two women's occupations as a determining factor. Bennett is a Deputy District Attorney and Ward works as a School Guidance Counselor. "If they can handle those positions, then dealing with 15 other strangers won't be such a strain on them," joked Gillespie. Betting on Survivor began today and will be available right up until the Season Finale. http://www.bodog.com/global/schedules/schedule.jsp?PIC=Lines&SPORT=NSE

LAST EDITED ON 03-18-03 AT 04:12 PM (EST)More from the poster mentioned above: yurisympaticos Registered User Posts: 3 (3/18/03 2:55:21 pm) Reply I talked to my friend again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My friend and I were speaking last night and she had more to say about Deena. Apparently, Deena talks to most of the survivors on a weekly basis. She even talks to Christy and Butch via email a lot as well. My friend askes Deena what she thought of her depiction on TV so far and she said she was pleased with it. She's happy with being the "sympathetic leader." Also, Deena can't stand Rob...but who does? lol --------------------- And this was the original post: yurisympaticos Registered User Posts: 1 (3/2/03 8:23:59 am) Reply Friend of Deena ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi, I am a friend of one of Deena's closest friends. I was talking to her (the friend, not Deena) last night and she told me that Deena had told her some of the things that went on down there. For one, Deena eventually gets bitten by some sort of dnagerous insect that put her through a lot of pain during the end of her game. She made the jury, but did not last very long in the end game. Eventually, she becomes close to Christy, who Deena says was a replacement in her gameplan when another member rubbed her the wrong way. Deena says she thinks she played the best game out there, and was always thinking of different strategies and such. She said she really loved the politics of the game. As for me, Ive never met Deena, but my friend is very reliable and I don't doubt her at all. ----------------------- Actually, it doesn't say anywhere in this post that Deena was "done in by one of her supposed alliance-mates", as Whatseatondebb stated above.
