EPISODE 8Jiffy voice-over:
“Previously on Survivor: After the merged tribe’s first Tribal Council, Colby lost his only major ally Tom and immediately formed 2 new critical alliances with Hunter and BobbyJon. Kathy and Rob enjoyed a lavish feast after winning the Reward Challenge, while Lex’s bug bites began accumulating at a dangerous rate.” “The next day, Rob and Sandra found out that the tribe’s water source was out of water and agreed to keep it a secret. And in the Immunity Challenge, Colby was the last person standing, allowing him to remain in the game for at least 3 more days.” “On Day 20, the tribe’s efforts to locate a new water source failed. Meanwhile, a major rift was exposed in the alliance of BobbyJon and Kelly when Kelly confronted her ally while he was scheming with Colby. Kelly’s temper at this incident set an unexpected plot in motion, and at Tribal Council, a surprised Kelly became the second member of the jury.” “10 Survivors remain. I just had a regular 1-person pack of M&M's, and at least 30 of them had to have been green. What is Love? Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, no more. The love triangle got broken up (wait, I mean… is there a “triangle” word for 2 people, not 3? Ah crrap). And smelly Kelly Kelly got sent to the jury. But not like anybody in the game cared about her. So the only real important consequence of this is that BoobyJon got dealt a big blow to his AP with his alliance (and probably middle-school relationship) break-up with Kelly prior to TC. JIFFY: C’mon in Alpha. Since we are in Greece, the birthplace of the Olympics, today’s Reward Challenge is called “Olymination”, and it will be a test of your physical abilities in 3 classic Olympic-style events. There will be 2 elimination rounds of events, leading to a final challenge where 3 of you will face-off. First, all 10 of you will compete in a discus throw. The 5 who hurl their discus the farthest will advance to the second round, which will be a swimming race from the pier out in the water all the way into shore. It will not be a long swim, but only the first 3 to grab their flags on shore will go on to the final round. Round #3 will be a javelin throw. The individual who launches their javelin the furthest will win today’s Reward. Wanna know what you’re playing for?
THE HERD: Yeah. Uh huh. Oh yah. Yeah. Wow. Please. Sure. Yup.
JIFFY: Take a look out in the water. See that motorboat? The winner of this challenge will join them out in the water for a fun afternoon of tubing, water-skiing, and relaxing on the water. And there’ll be plenty of snacks and cold beer. Sound like it’s worth playing for?
THE HERD: Hell yeah. Yup.
JIFFY: Alright, let’s get started. Some Notes on the RC: The person with the highest Individual Score at the end of today will win this Reward. Remember: any people who have tie scores at the end of the day are not eligible for winning the challenge  . There is a catch: The winner of this reward will get to bring 2 other people along for the day of fun. This is a good reward, and the winner and 2 guests all manage to get an additional +3 Score boost. This part gets incredibly tricky now for these 10 Alphas. Today on the entry form, next to each person’s name, you will select 2 people the person picks to go on the reward with them if they so happen to win. For this specific part, ties will be broken by the last vote cast. As for the winner, for each person this winner is aligned with that DOESN’T get chosen to go on reward, the winner will suffer a -3 AP drop. Uh oh . Individual Scores / Alliance Powers – Winner Take All
1.) Will these clowns find the new water source today? Yes or no? If you select yes, designate the ONE person who locates it. If MORE than 50% vote yes, the individual who got the most votes will get +5 AP boost for saving the tribe from imminent dehydration. If not, the ENTIRE tribe gets a -2 Score drop today.
2.) Rainstorm hits in the early evening. Fire goes out, bigtime. With nothing dry to work with, two people toil over making a new fire all evening. They get one started, but they sure blew tons of energy doing it. Pick the 2 firestarters. The 2 who get the most votes will get a -2 Score loss. Individual Scores – Every Point Matters

LAST EDITED ON 07-07-05 AT 01:39 AM (EST)Day 21 Summary At the day’s Reward Challenge, called “Olymination”, the 10 remaining Survivors competed in 3 elimination rounds consisting of a discus throw, a swim race, and a javelin launch. Kathy surprised all with an incredibly long javelin throw, winning the challenge. For the reward, an afternoon of fun on a boat and some food, she invited longtime friend Lex and S4 co-player Hunter, deciding to not reveal either of her secret allies, Stephenie and Ami. Ami and Stephenie were not so understanding back at camp.
--Ami (to Stephenie): Like, I know what the whole deal is with not revealing our alliance, but how do we know what she’ll be up to with Lex and Hunter today on the reward?
--Stephenie: I wouldn’t worry. While I’d have liked the food, think about it… would you have chosen me or Kathy today if you won?
--Ami: Probably you at least. --Stephenie (confessional): I think Ami might be a bit paranoid about this reward thing. She’s such a control freak. But I had to sorta nod my head with her today, I don’t wanna make any of my allies unhappy. Ami, however, did manage to save the day for the Alpha by finally locating the tribe’s new water source, much closer to camp than the previous one.
--Deena (confessional): Oh God, we sure do love Ami right now. Real water again!
--Sandra (confessional): Not very smart on Ami’s part. If Rob or I had found the new water source, we’d have kept it a secret. Seriously who’s gonna know if you’ve been getting extra water on the side? Right after Lex, Hunter, and Kathy returned from the reward, torrential downpours rocked the Alpha camp, soaking everything. The rain ruined the camp’s fire, and Hunter spent most of the evening rebuilding the fire by himself with nothing dry to work with.
--Rob (confessional): Mr. Workhorse over there, … the Man, the Myth, the Legend … yeah he spent hours and hours building a new fire for us. Not exactly necessary, and we didn’t even expect it to get going with everything being wet. Obviously, lots of people here are feeling vulnerable and they’re doing just about anything to make the tribe like them more.

Unfortunately for the other volunteers, I can’t announce any jury spots and further info until I know I have an assured 12-member jury. So badger each other if need be to make sure we get 12. Good stuff from yesterday: Kathy won yesterday’s reward challenge and brought Lex and Hunter. Ami found new water for the tribe. Immunity Challenge
(It’s pitch black dark when this challenge starts)
JIFFY: Survivors, head on over. Alright, let’s get started. But first, Colby, I’ll need that immunity necklace back. (Colby grudgingly hands it back.) Okay, the immunity necklace, back up for grabs. Today’s challenge will be “Hades’ Pit”. Inside that flaming ring of fire out in the water, you will see 10 hanging trapezes. Once the challenge begins, you will hang upside-down on your trapeze, hanging by your legs. As your legs wear out, one-by-one you will fall into the water. Once both your legs leave the trapeze, you’re out. You cannot touch the trapeze with your hands. The last person hanging will win today’s immunity and will be safe from the vote tomorrow night at Tribal Council. (The fire is only there to set the mood.) Some Notes on the IC: This immunity challenge is all balls, strength, determination, and balance. AP will NOT be a factor in this challenge. The person with the highest Individual Score at the end of the day will win this Immunity. Remember that any people with tie Scores at the end of the day are not eligible for the winning the challenge . Also, you will decide some other things. These categories, however, will follow normal “Winner Take All” rules.
1.) Attempting to maintain balance, one Survivor grabs the trapeze bar with both hands. Jiffy immediately disqualifies this person for breaking a rule. The moron who gets the most votes will be disqualified at some point during the contest.
2.) Grab the cheetos and get ready for some reality TV trash. In poor taste, one Survivor spits in another player’s face nearby while both are on the trapezes. The person spat on falls in right away, and the spitter is surprisingly not taken out of the contest. Vote for a spitter and a spat-on person. Winning spitter suffers a -3 AP deduction for such cruelty, and obviously the spat-on individual will be out of the competition. Note: The spitter could still win.
3.) In some of the dull minutes that pass, discussions take place, and 2 people engage in a major argument, probably about something stupid. This public quarrel diverts attention away from others. Each member of the quarreling duo that gets the most votes will get a -3 AP decline. Note: This one is independent from the actual immunity win, because nobody falls off from it. Someone in this duo can end up winning today. Individual Scores / Alliance Powers – Winner Take All
1.) I scheme, you scheme, we all scheme for ice cream. Minus the ice cream. Minus us. Tribe is getting smaller, egos are getting bigger, and everybody’s blood pressure is higher than Cheney’s right now. Connections and alliances are gold, and everyone wants more of them. And today 3 (yup, count ‘em, 3) new 2-person alliances (or agreements, “friends with privileges”, whatever the hell you wanna call them) are made. List 3 duos that make new alliances today. The 3 duos with the most votes today become new partnerships. Each member of each new agreement gets a +3 AP boost for it. Refer to the alliance map below as necessary.

--Rob (confessional): Ever since the merge, I’ve been keeping my eyes on a few people. In this game, I’ve been really late in forming alliances. The instant I make a move, I want it to be something I can really bank on. Everyone expects me to be cunning and devious. I want to throw them all off a bit. (walking down the beach)
--Rob (to Kathy): Hey, I’m beginning to think we could both benefit from keeping each other in the game. Straight up.
--Kathy: I’d say so as well.
--Rob: No Delta love there. Because obviously you didn’t give 2 hoots about sending Kelly home.
--Kathy: Correct.
--Rob: And I don’t really see BobbyJon helping you out if you needed it. I think it’s cool you’ve gotten to this point without any alliances.
--Kathy: Alliances aren’t everything in this game, you and I both know that. --Rob (confessional): So my talking to Kathy is very beneficial to me. We have a deal now. And she, being an outsider in this game with no allies but me, will be willing to go along with any plans I need her to be in. --Kathy (confessional): Rob and I are going to help each other out. It was something we sorta brought up at the reward feast the other day, but now it’s for real. And he’s under the impression that I’m not aligned with anyone else. At the day’s Immunity Challenge, “Hades’ Pit”, the 10 Survivors faced off while hanging upside-down over the water. Small chatter and talking carried on among the 10 players. About 10 minutes in, Jeff posed questions to some about whether winning immunity for them was important this evening. --Jeff: So Hunter, do you think you need this immunity tonight?
--Hunter: Not at all. Stephenie, Deena, and I are feeling good, we’ve been honest with eachother. Our alliance is solid.
--Jeff: Well that’s a bold statement. What do you think of that Deena?
--Deena: Hunter and I are friends in this game, so if that’s how he feels…
--Jeff: How ‘bout you Steph?
--Stephenie: Well… that’s saying a lot. But it’s almost as if he’s assuming he has our votes. If he falls down on his own will on purpose, that’s his decision to live with.
--Hunter: You’re saying I’d give up this challenge and the immunity? I never once said I’d drop out.
--Stephenie: I never said you were going to…
--Hunter: Stephenie, do you want me to drop? Are you trying to tell me something?
--Stephenie: (rolls eyes) What on earth are you talking about?
--Jeff: Hunter, your position in the tribe doesn’t seem as safe as you’re implying.
--Stephenie: Hunter, I haven’t mentioned anything about an any alliances being on or off in this challenge.
--Hunter: I’m just as surprised as you are Jeff. 24 minutes into the challenge. Ten becomes eight. Ami attempts to spit on her neighbors to distract them. --Jeff: Ami, are you trying to spit at people?
--Ami: Jeff, I’m bored.
--Jeff: Seems like you could do a lot more than just spit if you’re bored, particularly spitting directly at someone. You almost got Kathy right in the face.
--Kathy: Jeff if she gets it in my face, I’ll swing over and start pulling on her legs. 38 minutes in, now down to seven. 1 hour into the challenge, we are at 4 people remaining. --Jeff: Hunter, did you just grab the trapeze with your left hand?

--Jeff: It may be dark, but we all saw it. Hunter, you’re out, let go. 3 people left. At 1 hour, 8 minutes, two of the finalists drop almost at the same time. --Jeff: Kathy wins immunity!! (Kathy drops, climbs out of the water) Here is your immunity necklace, well-earned. You are safe from being voted out tomorrow night. As for the rest of you, one of you will be going home tomorrow evening at Tribal Council. Paddle back to camp, I’ll see ya later.

And RobC just made fun of Roger for like 10 minutes! Yo, you guys are right, these older seasons beat the pants off of Palau… the show really does seem a lot more pure in these older seasons. And holy crap, the Fellowship of the 11pm entrants has spoken again. Announcements:
--The Day 23 Summary and TC, as well as the thread for Episode 9 (Days 24-25) might not be up until late Saturday morning, because I will prolly be spending my night in a casino.
--As for the Final TC jury, we are going to go with Plan B. Two jury slots are still available: BobbyJon and Deena. We need people to fill these slots, so if you have already signed up to be a juror and are willing to play the role of more than 1 juror/finalist, which I’m sure a few of you would be, send me a PM and let me know. Hopefully this can be resolved today. And once all 12 are filled, I can post the list and send out sigpics for those already booted.  KATHY won the individual Immunity Challenge yesterday! Well, I’ll be blunt. One of these 10 buffoons will be getting a canister of Pringles and a shower tonight, after they’re voted off for being the loser that they are. The person that receives the most votes gets voted out tonight, and will become the third member of the jury on Survivor: The Epic Battle. In yesterday’s IC, Kathy won immunity and therefore cannot be voted out tonight. Current Alliance Powers come into play, as the 2 players with the top AP’s in the tribe have earned an “invisible immunity” and will not be voted tonight. This time around, Stephenie and Colby have the 2 highest AP’s – so they will both be safe from going home tonight (besides Kathy). In the event of a tie, the last vote cast will be the deciding vote.
(Note on Tribal Councils: When TC occurs, the circumstances will be made as realistic as possible. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place vote-outs in each tribe may receive some non-majority number of votes in the actual TC in the game, somewhat proportional to the votes they were given by us.) --Kathy: Oh my God. What happened?
--Lex: Kathy, I need help.
(crowd gathers) --Rob (confessional): Lex runs up to shore and says: “Hey guys, check out my new piercing.” Wait, maybe that’s what I thought he said. Something about a fishhook, maybe he’s just really bad at fishing. --Ami: Which way do you pull a fishhook out again? You yank it out?
--Lex: OWWW!
--Hunter: I thought you push it through all the way.
--Kathy: Good lord, it’s bleeding all over the place.
--Ami: Looks like we hit some cartilage there. --Rob (confessional): I think it woulda been great if he ran up and yelled to Kathy: “Does somebody have to pee? I need someone to pee on my nose. Anyone?” With Tribal Council approaching, some very detailed discussions took place. --Deena (to Hunter): So this is our chance. BobbyJon is out on the plank right now. No immunity.
--Hunter: I just have no idea what everyone else is thinking. But the BobbyJon idea sounds like the best one right now.
--Deena: I just want you to let me know what you’re going to be doing. I mean, do we take a shot at Stephenie at some point? Where do we draw the lines?
--Hunter: Why would we go after her? She’s been true to us.
--Deena: Even after the whole charade at the challenge yesterday? Remember what she said? --Deena (confessional): I question Stephenie and her motives in this game. I know the 3 of us are a tight alliance, but I’m wondering what kind of shiesty-##### moves she’s hiding. She doesn’t exactly have an Honest Abe reputation in this game. --Hunter (confessional): Deena rubbed me the wrong way right then. But I’d never consider taking Stephenie out anyways. A few days back, Steph and I figured we’d potentially benefit by staging an argument in front of the tribe. So we pulled a few strings at the challenge yesterday. Problem is I can’t and won’t tell Deena about that, so Deena thinks there’s an actual problem. --Hunter: Listen, I’ll think about the BobbyJon thing.
--Deena: Okay, it’s something I think we have to do. --Hunter (to Colby): Hey listen. I’m gonna tell you everything I know right now. Deena’s starting to piss Stephenie and me off. She wants BobbyJon out.
--Colby: Interesting. --Colby (confessional): Hunter is aware that BobbyJon and myself are very tight right now. So he’s just given me information that is very good to know. --Colby: How strongly would you feel about voting Deena off?
--Hunter: Who else could we go after tonight? Rob? Ami?
--Colby: Ami’s not exactly on everyone’s good side right now. So she needs to be kept around.
--Hunter: I just don’t know about taking Deena off. I mean, an agreement is an agreement. --Colby (confessional): I am trying very hard to get Hunter to commit to not voting for BobbyJon. Hunter and BobbyJon are my only two solid allies right now in the game. But the are very valuable to me. They are my buffers. As long as I strategically stay lodged between the two of them, I’m safe. (feel free to insert your own joke here) Colby then approached BobbyJon to discuss the upcoming vote.
--BobbyJon: I’ve heard my name come up more than once today. Tell me what’s going on.
--Colby: It’s not going to be you tonight. I actually talked to Steph about it too, and obviously she feels pretty strongly against voting you out.
--BobbyJon: Is Deena the choice then?
--Colby: She’s the critical link in the chain that’s making Hunter and Stephenie both very nervous. I think she’s trying way too hard to split them up.
--BobbyJon: See that’s the trouble with these alliances. You think we’re gonna be able to get through all these speed bumps? You know, make it to the end, get all the way there?
--Colby: I think the two of us should go for it.
--BobbyJon: To the end.
(Colby and BobbyJon shake hands.) --Colby (confessional): I think I’ve gotten a pretty good concept of how to play this game. BobbyJon and I have a deal to get all the way to the end together. And honestly, I feel more comfortable getting there with him than with Hunter. Hunter has other friends in this tribe right now, and BobbyJon is sorta on his own besides me. Concerned for Lex’s health and well-being, Sandra and Kathy nursed him during the day.
--Sandra (confessional): It took Kathy and I forever to bandage Lex’s nose up with that old first-aid kit, and some scraps of the blankets. --Kathy: How are those bug bites doing today?
--Lex: They’re getting pretty bad. Look at the one next to my knee. --Kathy (confessional): I’m genuinely concerned for Lex right now. He’s drained, he’s injured, he’s being eaten alive by bugs, and he keeps pushing himself all the way in these challenges. He’s spent. --Sandra (confessional): Though he’s my ally, Lex needs to be voted out. He’s really not doing well. And I’m afraid these others are going to keep him around for their own benefit. Prior to Tribal Council, and with Lex present, Sandra made a plea to the tribe.
--Sandra: Everybody, I just want to bring something up. I’ve spoken to Lex a lot today, and if you notice, he’s been idle the whole day. Truth is, guys, he’s ready to throw in the towel. His nose is banged up terribly, we think it’s a lot worse than it originally looked.
--Ami: Well, maybe we should be hearing this from Lex.
--Lex: For real guys, this isn’t looking good. I think you guys understand what I’ve been through out here, each day is more and more of a personal hell for me. --Ami (confessional): Some of us found it a little suspicious that Sandra gave a little speech about sending Lex home tonight. And that’s not what we’re doing tonight. The plan is to send Deena home. She’s pushy. Stephenie wants her out of the alliance with Deena, but isn’t telling anyone. And I can’t risk losing my secret ally to Deena and Hunter. Deena’s the one. Lex isn’t going anywhere. TRIBAL COUNCIL The 10 remaining Survivors walk in with lit torches.
JIFFY: Welcome back, Alpha. We’ll now bring in the members of the jury. Tom, and Kelly, voted out at the last Tribal Council.
(Kelly glances at BobbyJon, BobbyJon avoids eye contact)
JIFFY: Alright so we’re at Day 23 right now, it’s been nine days since the merge. Deena, how do you think the tribe is doing? Is everyone working together, or are there divisions in the tribe?
DEENA: Well, there are going to be attempts all the time to work as one tribe and one unit. But living with certain people since Day 1 makes the tribal lines a bit tempting to fall back on. They know you and trust you more than others, so it’s kinda just the way the chips fall.
JIFFY: Stephenie, you’re in this extreme environment with limited supplies. Are there any challenges in attempting to adapt to the island when there’s such a large group of you?
STEPHENIE: Absolutely, the whole water source problem had us scared. The old water source was dried up and we had to keep looking and looking for the new one. And actually, we got lucky because Ami found it.
(Ami smiles)
JIFFY: So you have water again. Well what about food? Rob?
ROB: Food is food. There are only so many fish in the sea, and there’s some rice here and there, a few berries, and some not-so-nice things here and there. Divvying up the food-gathering seems to be a lot easier than actually literally obtaining the food.
JIFFY: Lex, it seems like you’re ready to jump out of your seat over there.
LEX: This food-gathering is what caused a fishhook to stick itself into my nose this morning.
JIFFY: So that explains the glob of white bandages on your face right now.
LEX: It isn’t pretty, it’s getting pretty infected. We had lots of trouble getting it out today. It got really stuck in there.
KATHY: Lex was definitely in TONS of pain. And I don’t think the bleeding’s even stopped yet.
JIFFY: So Lex, what you’re saying is this environment has been giving you a run for your money.
LEX: Jeff, look at my legs. I can’t even see my skin anymore. The bugs out here are eating me alive. I’ve had it up to here with this island.
JIFFY: You seem discouraged.
LEX: Truth is, I’m disgusted. I needed help this morning for a major accident and at least 5 people sitting here right now were keeping their distance and laughing hysterically instead of helping me.
JIFFY: Really?
SANDRA: It’s true Jeff. Some people are getting so immersed in the game that they forget how be human. Lex needed help, and most of these guys just didn’t care.
LEX: And I know for a fact I won’t make it to the end, at least the way these people have aligned themselves. I don’t stand a chance. I want out of here.
JIFFY: BobbyJon, when someone’s begging to leave, do you give them their wish or do you look at the whole picture?
BOBBYJON: There’s a lot at stake. Some plans have been made, and Lex might think it’s his time to go, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be leaving tonight.
LEX: You know what Jeff, I don’t feel like even going on and on anymore about this, I’m taking myself out the game right now.
(zoom in on Tom and Kelly, confused)
(Stephenie tries to hold back her reaction)
(Hunter frowns)
JIFFY: Let me understand this, tonight, Lex, you are taking yourself out of the game.
LEX: If I don’t, I’m 99% sure that a certain someone else would be shocked to see their name pop up on the ballots. I’m gonna let that person stay. (awww shittt, planting some landmines before he leaves) I don’t belong here anymore, and my health is more important to me right now than most of these people will ever be to me.
JIFFY: Well, Kathy, even though you’re immune tonight it looks like it won’t even matter. Lex, I guess you’re ready to go, go ahead and bring me your torch.
SANDRA: Bye Lex. JIFFY: Lex, as you have requested, this game is now over for you. But you will not be going home, you’ll return as the third member of the jury. (Lex leaves; Jiffy hurls Lex’s torch into the center fire, it ignites.) Well I think it’s safe to say that this was one of the easier Tribal Councils in the game for most of you. But clearly Lex thought that if he didn’t quit, he’d be sticking around for a few more days. Obviously, some of you may need to reevaluate your status in the tribe. Grab your stuff, and head back to camp. Lex’s final words:
LEX: This was my time to go, I was prepared to leave tonight, especially when back at camp, it seemed like no one even listened to my request to be voted out. I’m glad I can take care of my problems right now, and there’s at least 5 or 6 people still in this game that better hope they don’t end up in the Final Three. Because I have quite a few things to say.

1.) Whether or not someone gets voted out tonight as a result, one 2-person alliance gets completely broken up when both of them accuse the other of lying to them. After a harsh argument, each of them just plain assumes that the alliance is done. Using the alliance map, pick the duo. The aligned pair with the most votes gets split up today, and both suffer a -5 AP drop as a result." (Emphasis Added) So, I'm confused: If the alliance between BobbyJon and Kelly was "completely broken up" prior to the Tribal Council that evening, why would he incur a 5-point AP loss when his former alliance partner was subsequently voted off the island? Or ... If their heated exchange was, as you've subsequently said in this morning's Episode 8 (Day 21 Instructions), only a "major rift" in their partnership, then why would both of them incur a 5-point AP loss as the result of an assumed (at the least, by BobbyJon, Kelly and I) "split up" that was, as it turns out, not a fact? "Choose wisely, think long-term or short-term, your call." ... G

I noticed! It looks good. And I noticed! Alas, poor Deena ... And speaking of "Greek": I downloaded a trial version of Animation Shop (a ... I thought ... freestanding component of Photo Shop Plus) the other day because I thought I wanted to try my hand at sigpics (because I thought I could just drop as many precooked animations as I wanted into one neat little 20KB, 60x500 pot, arrange them in any sequence I liked, position them wherever I chose, throw in a few spices, plop in a background and ...). Ha! Instead, so far on my way to immortalizing my participation in The Epic Battle (as close as I'll ever come to a Championship "ring"), I've discovered (as I'm sure I was intended to) that I need all of Photo Shop Plus and that all of the homage paid the Boards' sigpic creators is due them ... in spades! But, if I ever manage to translate the program's language into American (with or without Photo Shop Plus), I'll post the result ... G
