I discussed this on the "Ted/Penny in Final Four?" thread, but thought it would be relevant to post it in its own thread.The torches are indeed chosen at random each week, as evident by shots of Erin at two different TCs (ep. 7 and her boot in ep. 8) with two different torches. When she was placing her torch at TC in ep. 7, she was clearly holding a gold torch, but in the following episode, the "snuffing out" was done (clearly) to a silver torch. My quest to match each person with a torch color was futile.
