Sagebrush Dan 10002 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Playboy Centerfold" 06-23-07, 04:06 AM (EST) "BTW, I graduated" I wasn't gonna post anything because I've made such a fuss about this thing already, but agman made me such a cool siggie for it that I needed a reason to show off his work: The baccalaureate was a march across campus with relatives in tow and into the small campus chapel. The music was gorgeous (Handel, sung with pipe organ), and not a dry eye in the house. The graduation ceremony the next day was a real hoot. Considering the school, you'd think it was going to be formal. Held in a baroque-style theater downtown, all the fixings for a real boring dour ceremony. But, because the school is focused on adults returning to complete their education, the place went wild with cheering children and spouses. You could barely hear the orchestra when we marched in. We were supposed to sit in front and face the stage, but we turned and grinned at the screaming throng, and ended up screaming and waving back at them. One little voice squealing out "Aunt Marie!" from the balcony still resonates in my mind. Sweetie ran all over the place taking pictures before the ceremony (as did everyone else). Ceremony was short and sweet (150 graduates keeps things short); great speeches by students — especially from a homeless woman who was graduating from three colleges this spring, and will be entering naturopathic med school next fall. It all ended with a bagpipe and drum corps marching down the aisles. The audience went even more berzerk, but fortunately there were a lot of bagpipes and they were REALLY loud. The music ushered us out onto the street, where the crowd joined us. A time of incredible celebration. Really joyous. And, thanks again agman.   Top

I feel so guilty doing it. But, I think I have learned more since I finished classes last March than when I was in there. Life has become astonishing since then. I am seriously considering continuing my education in one form or another. I will definitely be going to comedy improv school this fall, and continue to take classes at the Spiritual Center where I'm volunteering (I thought I was woo-woo, but I ain't got nothin' on those Franciscan nuns!).
