"SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote...." |
Hey, next time they decide to move this stupid show around in the schedule, somebody let me know, ok?Anyway, on to the rules: 1.Please put the name of your choice for this week's bootee IN THE SUBJECT HEADING! Simply replace the section of your post that reads: "Re:SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote!" with your pick. Violators from last week's thread are: strone & RobinHood! Do with them what you will. Enjoy it now, 'cause next time, they're mine! Muwaa haa haa! 2. Reply ONLY to this post! Do not reply to the last post on this thread. Do not reply to any other post on this thread. After reading these rules on THIS post click on the "reply" button in the bottom right of THIS POST ONLY. Violator's from last week's thread are: GTMike & literock! Still got your sticks sharp? Good, start poking! 3. THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD! DO NOT TREAT IT AS SUCH! When you make your post, feel free to give your reasoning and your theories in the message portion. BUT, for further discussion of said theories, take it outside. Violator for the second week in a row: Webby! You'd think he'd know better wouldn't you? For shame, Webby, for shame. Ok, that's it for the regular rules. Apparently, Dave is more open to suggestions than I am, though. So here comes the... THE STRONGLY WORDED SUGGESTIONS 1. If you read the summary and didn't get a chance to thank the writer, now would be a great time to do so. Thanks Swami! Great freakin' summary! 2. Taunt previous violators of the rules at will upon their first violation. You know who they are. Now let 'em have it! It's good for them. See how TechNoir behaved himself last week? You know why? Discipline, that's why. Kudos to TechNoir for taking the beating so well! Yay TechNoir! Also, a very special shoutout this week to Java for creatively escaping an acutal rule breakage and at the same time entertaining us with her naked grandfather. Yay Java! That's all kids. Have fun. And as always...Happy Voting! Criminals From the Neck Up

I am really having a hard time with this one, there are quite a few options and one day less to consider them. Besides, I have the honor of giving Robert his first vote. I think his being sick and injured makes him a sure bet for TC despite Kathy's issues. If I'm wrong and Maraamu loses, my bet is on Gina getting the boot.

Survivor history says doom is upon you by winning a tiebreaker in the Gross Food Challenge. In all 3 Survivors, the winner was booted the next time their tribe went to IC (Stacey, Kimmi, Linda). I thought the "No Pain, No Gain" was pointing to another Maraamu TC, until I saw the Robt quote about, "pain is nothing, but life is tough", thus somehow saying without actually suffering the pain, there is no gain. Foreshadowing Rotu to IC. My guess is Kathy and Robert are the unlikely alliance as per the CBS Eyemail. We already see Kathy with Zoe as we see Robert with Tammy and Tammy with Gabe, creating a potentil 5-man alliance, leaving John, Neleh and Paschal in the cold. Physically, of the females she is probably the weakest. She is sooooo sweet if she made it to the Finals, she would win. Get rid of her now.

Come on, Kathy, being voted off is not that bad. You get all the food you can find at the buffet line, clean water that doesn't need a fire to boil it, and sturdy leak proof shelter from the rain. All that and paradise to boot <insert bootee joke>.I chose her last week for this thread, but should have consulted my PTTE because I correctly chose Patricia in that thread. Oh, well, I chose those names before the first episode aired. Please don't lose IC this week Maraamu. OFG Theory: Lots of choices. Gina nor Vee shown in vid caps for Marammu. Lots of Rotu's not shown. I think the injuries are the predominant feature in the previews, not necessarily only bootee and non bootee story lines.Which tribe: I'm going with the idea the the injuries are not that serious & are a misdirection of a Rotu catastrophe. Due to the Paschal pics, possible liquor, etc, I think Rotu wins RC & has a leg up due to nourishment & attitude for the IC. So I think we'll see one team loosing the first three IC's. So who goes? Hunter: Too obvious in previews, still a very strong male, could happen, but I think Gina would go first Gina: If Rob, Sarah, Sean & Vee team up, we'll see Gina take a flying leap. A likely scenario. Rob: Hunter and Gina already have proclaimed they'd rather see Sarah go & get work out of Rob, so very unlikely scenario. I don't think the challenge loss last week will effect Rob's chances. Sean: He holds some power right now as a swing vote, as does Vee. It doesn't sound like he and Pat really ever made ammends or grew to like eachother, so I don't think he's next at looser lodge. Of course it doesn't sound like Pat & Peter ever hit it off either. Vee: I think she is the key swing vote. She is not simply Sean's puppet. She seems to be clever, as verified by Pat. She doesn't like Sarah at all, that's all she's STRONGLY stated over and over. Sarah: Sort of Pat's friend, worthless at camp, already a thorn in many tribemate's sides. Strongly allied with Rob only. Reminds me of a Lindsey conversation after TC last year. Ugh. So, with these players in place, I see Rob & Sarah splitting with Gina & Hunter. Both vie for Sean & Vee. Vee goes with Hunter & Gina. Sean wants to go with Rob (Rob makes him an offer he can't refuse). The split ensues and I think Sarah will somehow end up getting the heave ho. Pat stands up for Sarah, but didn't seem to have too much to say about her while on the show. It seems that they got to know eachother in other ways...i.e., bootee lodge.

This is the first time every that I feel certain about my pick. I believe that Robert is the next to go. Why? 1) I don't believe that MB would let Rotu win three and a row. He and Jiffy will chose a challenge to favor Maraamu's win. 2) If a survivor is sick and a burden to the team, the team cuts them immediately. Look at Ramona and Jessie. Robert has been sick since day one. Top of that, he is injured. No matter how strong Robert is perceived to be, if he is sick/injured he is dead weight. 3) Kathy is too valuable to the tribe. Through it all, she has provided food. Even if she is annoying, I think the members of the tribe are not going to sacrafice protein just to get rid of an annoying player...look at Richard. He ran around naked, pissed everyone off...but because he provided the food he controlled the game. 4) Finally, the bootee never seems to be the one that everyone picks. Last week, a large portion of the people picked Kathy. As a result, she is too obvious, therefore she is safe for another week.

I may regret this vote, and you can all taunt me if I am wrong, but I am voting for John. It has nothing to do with the injury, whatever it is. First, I think the fix is in, and we will see an IC that Maraamu will win, whether it is because it is a subjective challenge (e.g., SOS), or one heavily tilted towards a team with fewer members (e.g., maze). Editing also leads me to believe that none of the Maraamu members is going next. If Rotu loses, then who goes? I think the following people are safe, based on editing and/or tribe dynamics (what little we’ve seen): Neleh, Paschal, Gabe, Tammy, Zoe. Robert could conceivably go, because of his illness/injury, but I think that by this time, he would have been given more facetime by now. Even if he’s done nothing around camp because he hasn’t been feeling well, he’s still done confessionals, and they could have given him more facetime just as a narrator. Yes, Jessie was voted out for illness without much facetime, but that was in the second episode, while we are up to the third. I think by now, there has to be a little more set-up for the boot. It’s also very possible that Kathy could go, but I don’t think she will. It’s partly because it’s “too obvious,” but sometimes they are obvious (see Kimmi, Lindsey, Frank), so that’s not really a good answer. It’s more because I think, despite her early run-in with her tribe, they got over their annoyance with her. After the confrontation with the group, when Kathy was practically in tears, Tammy said she felt bad, and that their intention wasn’t to hurt her feelings (or something like that). Gabe called her out on her behavior, but then said he would do what he could to “assuage her worries.” Then, they all came together and built the hut to make her happy. If they really didn’t like her and wanted her gone, I think they would have said screw that, we’ll build the hut when we damn well feel like it, and no blond b!tchy person is going to tell us what to do. Finally, they’ll probably realize that, annoying as she is, they’ll still want to keep her around for a while to be the food provider. John, on the other hand, certainly fancies himself the food provider, but he is so not. What has he done so far? He built a pig snare that he said “worked perfectly,” despite the fact that the pig was able to set it off without getting caught. Well, I don’t know what kind of bizarro planet John lives on, but where I come from, that’s the textbook definition of “didn’t work at all.” He also thinks he’s all that because he caught one shimp. One! And Gabe mocked him for it. I suspect the others may be doing the same. At least Kathy can back up her words with actual food. Whenever we’ve seen confrontations involving Kathy, John’s been the one who’s clashed with her the most. I can see the tribe feeling bad for Kathy, and blaming John for making the problems worse. I also haven’t really seen any real interactions between John and anyone else. We have no idea if he has bonded with anyone or made any alliances yet. Could it be because he has none? In order to vote John out, they wouldn’t even have to have a majority. Perhaps it will be our first tie vote, and we will finally see how they are going to resolve the ties. Maybe it’s a food-finding competition or a quiz about food finding, and of course Kathy would kick John’s @ss. Finally, I really think the editing supports John being booted. He’s gotten a ton of facetime. He stated that if he catches a pig, he’ll be in the final four. But he didn’t catch a pig, did he? No final four for you, John. (And wouldn’t it be funny if his final four spot goes instead to the actual food provider, Kathy, the one we all think should be voted out.) Well, I’ll probably be wrong, but it makes a good story, doesn’t it? diamond

everyone keeps saying that MB wouldn't let a tribe lose three IC's in a row, but in S2 ogakor lost IC's 2, 3, and 4, putting kucha at a 7-5 advantage... i think MB would allow a three-loss streak, but not right off the bat... notice how in E3 in africa, while boran was having their streak of bad luck, the IC was that "signal the plane" re-run from SI... it's a totally subjective challenge with no real criteria for judging a winner... IMO, after maraamu loses the RC, MB realizes that he needs to bring in the helicopter and drop a crate with the immunity idol on their side of the island regardless of how bad their distress signal is, just to keep things somewhat balanced... so i predict a rotu RC win and a maraamu IC win...now, when it comes to the bootee, kathy is much too obvious a choice for the ouster... people argue that the she's been too much of a b#### towards her team, but when you look back to past survivors, the s##t-disturbers from the first few episodes always stay around for a while... SI: richard... S2: jerri and keith... S3: tom and clarence... i think this means that kathy's safe for a while... robert, on the other hand, is sick and apparently gets badly hurt... if he's forced to sit out another challenge, i think the tribe will realize that he's not a neccessity... and in the vein of the previous love tribes (ie. kucha) i think it'll be a unanimous vote... alternative: gina... and i say good riddance... go home and eat a sandwich crews... you look worse than calista! happy spoiling y'all!

LAST EDITED ON 03-13-02 AT 09:26 AM (EST)First Robert was too ill to particapate in last weeks RC. Now Robert gets a foot wound. John also has a wound to his hand. The two injuries are different. John will be able to continue doing many of the required tasks even with only one hand. Robert on the otherhand will need time to rest his foot. He won't be able to run on it and can't walk on it too much. Couple the foot injury and the illness from last week and I don't see how Robert can continue. Also, I believe Robert kiss to Kathy is as he says farewell to his tribe. As for Kathy, she is the Frank of Survivor 4. Every week, they show Kathy is irritating and not meshing well with her tribe but I just see her lasting like Frank did. Besides it's too obvisious. Hasn't Burnett been beating us over the head with it? If she were going I don't believe Burnett would beat the dead horse. Alternate Sara. People forget Sean and Vee voted for her two weeks ago and last week they switched with Hunter and Gina. Sarah is not good with anyone (except Rob). I'd pick Sara but think her team will win immunity because to save the game someone from Rotu must go.

First: Who goes to TC and why?Flipping a coin 40 times and getting 40 heads in a row are pretty slim. But if you flip a coin 39 times and get heads each time, the odds that the next flip will result in heads is 50%, yup- and that is our situation - R or M go to TC? 50-50 odds. But MB don't roll dice, and he can't dictate the outcome - but he can nudge it. Forget the SOS and other subjective suggestions - just put them in a foot race or aerobic challenge - Paschal/Kathy should weigh them down - the mars have the youth challenge. Viewers know this and so that is why we have not seen any IC footage (pun not intended). So Rotu goes to TC. Second: Why Kathy? It is obvious for reasons I have not seen posted (although that does not mean someone has not posted it...). Kathy and her dramantics have been highlighted in ep1 and ep2 because that is good TV and that is the big story over at Rotu - no evil MB at work here. Now to see evil MB at work visualize scenario #1: Kathy is NOT booted in ep3. If this was true then MB would want you to think she is booted in ep3, how?, by showing SOMETHING negative about her in the preview. Now scenario #2: Kathy IS booted in ep3. Well, don't focus on anything neg about her in preview. Simply stated, it is the absence of negative footage about a negative person that makes her boot a positive (...does that even make sense?...). Is this the same as the OFG theory? who knows, I don't pretend to understand the OFG theory. My reasoning for Kathy going this ep is not tied to the Universal Laws of Gravity - it is specific to the combo of Kathy, MB, the Rotus not being at TC yet and a mole on my toe. Heisenbergly Uncertainly Yours, BI

How dumb!!" at the tactics ... But things are getting personal, and Sair-Bare almost got 'hunted'. Or else, the strong, good-for-lots-o'things woman (Gina) will go, as opposed to 'workaholic', good-for-one-thing woman (Sarah). This would punish/p*ss-off Huntsman just as much. This tribe is just too S-M-R-T! Can we all say 'tribicide'? Edited - to add Gina as the alternative sacrifice *grimace*

It's seems to me highly likely Robert of Kathy get the ax.I think injured trumps annoying. I don't care how much sweet pee Neleh can generate, Robert's foot will make him a challenge liability. So I'm saying Robert finds himself on on The Loser Cruiser before Kathy. (my vote virtually assures now that Robert stays)

See Krautboy's arguments on the SOTS thresd page. He makes a lot of good points there.I'm distrustful of all the attention dumped on Kathy, it seems like there's so much focused on her that she couldn't be such an obvious first boot from Rot-u. Robert has been prominently shown with one ailment after another, it might make sense that the tribe take pity on him and kick him out so he can recover on the boat. If it's a Moomoo boot, then Hunter may seem like the logical choice due to his being a major threat to the Sean/Vee/Sarah/Rob alliance that we saw last week. I'm hoping, though, that this is just an one-time deal, but we'll find out tonight. Sarah and Gina are also boot possibilities. If it's not Robert, then Kathy is the leading possibility for a boot in Rot-u.

Ok here is the reasoning. The raft pics are from the RC. The title "No Pain, No Gain" is likey a RC reference and not an IC reference. The Rotu tribe although in pain will gain the reward once again. The IC though will be stacked against them. I am convinced MB will find a way to slant it in the Maraamu's favor, and in the end Rotu will visit TC for the first time. So who is it? Kathy is the most obnoxious, and I'm not shying away from her because it is obvious. What I look at more it the fact the Rotu is the self-proclaimed love tribe. For the most part all of these people seem to like one another. An injured member though will not be helpful, and even more so one that requires more sustenance in order to be better. Our hint was the sickness talk from last week, so in a mercy killing of sorts Robert will be the first evictee. Kathy may get a couple of warning votes but in this case the weak/sick will be removed before the obnoxious. -ICB

LAST EDITED ON 03-13-02 AT 09:35 AM (EST)Alternate pick: Gina I think the episode title tells us that the team with no pain does not gain. I think Neleh is the sweet-pee who provides the unusual assistance to her injured tribemate. I do not think the Sean/Vee/Rob/Sarah alliance is a firm one -- I think they just all agreed to get rid of Patricia. Gina has been more useful to the challenges compared to Sarah, so I see Hunter and Gina able to convince Sean and Vee to vote with them this time. Vee will be the easier sell, and Sean will put his alpha male urges aside to do what he thinks will prevent the tribe's complete annihilation. He doesn't like Hunter, but he needs Hunter's strength in the challenges for his own survival. I think Rob's strategy discussion from last time was very telling. Sarah is a vote in his pocket (among other things in his pocket), but he needs to make the decision on whether to stick with Sean or Hunter. I think Sean would be willing to go after Sarah this time because he thinks that Rob would choose him, and that would give Sean a 3-2 alliance...and the all-important core of 3 he could go to the end with. edited to add a quick "Shame on you!" to all of last time's thread violators

There really isn't much to go with this week... last week there were at least those photos of the Fafaru challange (which I saw too late anyway). Then there was the episode name and the preview that I saw as too obvious indicators of Patricia's boot to take them seriously. And even if I didn't give much credit to the TP spoiler talking about two bootee from two different tribes in the two first episodes. But based on the little bits of information I've seen I think that 1) The episode name refers to the fact that though Rotu is deeply in pain, they will pull the 3rd consequitive IC victory 2) Next episode's "Wind's Twist" refers to the first Maraamu victory after some precious help from MB 3) Even the stupidest Maraamu should realize that at this point they should vote off their mentally and physically weakest link (I think two of them, Vee, and Sean with her, has been doing that all along). Sarah contributes the less to the tribe, so she must go, regardless of the personal symphaties and antiphaties 4) Preview's Hunter-Sarah comfrontation might be either from the night after the last TC, in which case it would contribute to her eventual boot or from later on, when they have decided that Sarah must go 5) Pat (punch intended) may be one bitter ex-contestant, but they can actually come pretty handy. Last season I basicly knew Ethan would be in final two after reading and hearing what Brandi and especially Kelly had to say about him and how they said it. So she will definitely see Sarah in the looser's lodge, since she didn't have a chance to bond with Fric that much in the camp.

LAST EDITED ON 03-13-02 AT 10:49 AM (EST)Not a lot to go on this week. Or too much, I'm not sure which. I am resorting to my gut, which says it's time for a surprise. The biggest surprise of all would be a third straight Rotu IC victory. I don't underestimate MB's capacity for manipulation. But we've seen NOTHING of the IC this week, leading to a massive group conclusion that it's time for the SOS challenge. This is where I start thinking about hollowness. So Gina, based on a theory that the Dopey/Sean/V/Princess Funbags alliance will hold for a week, the outrageous sexism of Sean and Dopey, and Gina's inability to shut her bloody mouth. My alternate Rotu pick is John, who's gotten tremendous amounts of face and is a whiny beeyotch anyway. Props to Swami. Slings and arrows to violators, except Webby, who can do whatever the heck he wants in a voting thread. In fact, Webby, would you mind terribly jumping in and interrupting this thread, for any reason that appeals to you? Finally...and dangerously...jeers to Supe for not reading enough of last week's voting threads to realize that Technoir is not blessed with a Y chromosome. That right, kiddies. It takes clangers to take on The Man of Steel. And Vampy, for that matter. Sadly, I haven't got those, I'm just an idjit.
Bold prediction: Maryland over Siena by at least one point.

All RC & IC (except the fafaru) have been water-based so far. MB is due to throw out a land-based challenge. Mara are all young & healthy, they can run, climb, swing--whatever--faster & further than the Rotu (Kathy is 47, Judge 57, Robert sick & foot-injured.) If it is a maze, which seems likely to me since no one has to sit out, then Hunter's pilot instincts & skills will carry the Mara.So Rotu goes to TC for first time. Kathy is way obvious--she is being shoved down our throats like Lindsay was. Too obvious. She does have a role as food provider. She nagged the tribe into improving their shelter for which they could be very grateful if the mentioned rain finally arrives. She stays. Between John & Robert, Robert seems more likely to go. He is not hunting & gathering like the rest of the tribe. He brings no strength to the challenges so far. His only buddy (as hinted at in early vidcaps) is Tammy. Tammy is shown this week saying things can change in a minute around here. Perhaps in giving Robert his good-bye face time, Tammy also gets some over-due face time herself. John has been fishing (whence his sea urchin sting), working hard, had the idea in last weeks RC to flip the sunken boat, is strong on land & in water--he is more valuable to the tribe. Bye-bye Robert.

Maraamu wouldn't be so stupid to get rid of such a strong player when they're already down two would they? Yeah and Colby wouldn't give away $900,000 over a friendship of 40 days. I do not know if this has been commented on in these boards but Hunter's targeting of Sarah last week was absolutely Lex stupid play. And just because Lex got away with it through luck, other people being dumber, intimidation and winning immunities doesn't mean it will happen again. Hunter actually asked a dim, New England construction worker to think strategically instead of with his **ck. And then he figured he had a backup because Sean/Vee voted for Sarah the previous week, so hey its locked in, even though Sean views me as The Man, has not once followed my lead, has a lot of pride and is 'representin'. What can he do now? -target Sarah and hope Sean, Vee votes with him, Gina. Again i do not think Sean will vote with Hunter this game unless it's Seans idea. -target Sean or Vee. I don't think Sarah will let Rob forgive Hunter/Gina for kicking them out of their clique. Reason and logic only work when there is something in it for the people you are asking to be reasonable, logical. And sometimes it doesn't even work then when you're asking them to compromise a personal, core value on national TV. So why Hunter and not Gina? Hunter's the front man of their alliance and i could see him taking a bullet for Gina if it becomes obvious one of them is going. Also, if this weeks IC is the 'distress signal' challenge and there's a power struggle on what to build and Hunters idea for the signal loses them the challenge...or rotu loses IC and this is put off for a week or MB's unlikely alliance is a truce between Sean, Hunter or or or. That is why this show is so fascinating to watch.

Alternate pick: Robert, due to illness and injury. John seems to be the only other Rotu at risk this week, but he has better social skills even if he has been a bit inept at the providor role so far.Should Maraamu go to TC again, almost everyone is at risk except Rob, because they'll get rid of Sarah before they get rid of him. It comes down to which couple Vecepia and Sean would side with, which is hard to call since Vecepia would probably be inclined to go with Hunter and Gina, but Sean seems to view Great White Hunter as his greatest threat. Possibly they would take different sides but hold to their agreement to not vote against each other, which would put Hunter and Sarah into a tie. If that happens Hunter should win the trivial pursuit challenge unless the airhead catches another lucky break. Gina the Nature Guide would probably not be the target if there is a possibility of it coming down to the trivial pursuit challenge, but you never know. Yay, TechNoir! tsk tsk tsk strone, RobinHood, GTMike, literock .... and Webby??? Supes must be pulling our legs with that one. WTG, Swami, that was a rockin' summary!

LAST EDITED ON 03-13-02 AT 05:39 PM (EST)1. The most important thing to spoil is the IC. I was desperately hoping for some Early Show pics or other stuff to show us what the IC will be. It might be an S.O.S., but it could also be a maze, or an obstacle course. Hollow Theory: MB wants to surprise his normal audience, and deceive us spoilers. A third straight Maraamu loss would achieve that. But the show titles got to me. The fourth one "Winds Of Change", sounds like an unimaginative replay of S-III, and could mean many things. But Occam's Razor, and the third and fourth show titles taken together suggest the simplest solution to me: that Rotu pulls out the IC this time, and Maraamu pulls out the next one. 2. If it were Rotu in TC, then Kathy or Robert are the likely boots. OFG Theory suggests Robert because Kathy is virtually unseen in the previews for this week. But I think it's Maraamu, where Hunter, Gina and Sarah are the most likely candidates. My first thought was that it would be a tie vote between Gina and Sarah. But Gina only got one "moon" shot in the previews. Hunter, however, was clearly agitating Sarah. Also, I remember Dicque's commentaries on S-II: It is social skills that win and lose Survivor. Hunter agitated Rob last time, and Sean doesn't like Hunter as it stands. The "Water Boy" scene still is fresh in my mind. In lion prides, two males will often collude and drive out the Alpha Male, then share the harem. Also, the real secret to MB, using the Hollow Theory, is telling the difference between when he's leading us AWAY from the truth, and when he's trying to sneak that truth in under our noses. The See-BS site and many of Patricia's interviews that speak so highly of Hunter. And Hunter has not been shown in the glaring light that Kathy, Sarah, John and Robert have been. Shades of Carl and Jessie in S-III, Hunter is just on that edge of our consciousnesses. 3. Last, and certainly not least, is the Varner-X discussion posted by shakestheclown and confirmed by Webby. Maybe I'm falling for a cheap trap, but combined with everything else, it seems huge. Lastly, I think Rotu characters will be strongly developed this show, since they haven't been the last two shows. And THAT will be MB's in-show misdirection, which he frequently does to keep us on our seats for about 45 minutes. See the show with Frank's dismissal in S-III for an analogous situation. Swami, come on in and join me in the Summary Lodge. Kick up your feet, enjoy a smooth beverage, and reflect on a job WELL DONE. *** Contradictions don't exist. If you are faced with a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong. -- Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Honestly, few boots tonight would surprise me. Krautboy's arguments tipped the scale for me. Plus, I don't remember seeing the tribe have much interaction with either Robert or Kathy. We've seen Kathy irritating her tribe, but we haven't seen Robert being a part of the big love fest either. If it comes down to a choice between 2 tribemates that you don't have ties to, do you choose the one that does the grunt work and provides food even though she is annoying or do you choose the quiet voodoo dude who is sick, weak and now injured? I'd pick Robert. editted to say: thanks for the wonderful summary Swami - you hit it over the fence sweetoe!

Alternate Robert. I find Krautboy's argument very persuasive; I simply have no real evidence as to who wins IC. Next episode, "The Winds Twist," which I believe may indicate a twist involving Mara as early as Ep 4. If the tribes were 7-6 in Ep 4 Burnett would have waited to see if they evened up for a swap in Ep 5, but if one tribe is down 3 despite his best efforts to throw them an IC, then he might well initiate a twist. I basically agree with what Survivin Dawg said above--and probably others (blame my short term memory loss). Although AyaK thinks Kathy this time and Hunter the next, I see a Hunter boot next time as anticlimactic; the strong male leader surprise boot factor will be gone if they play it up this week. So if Hunter went next time, I think MB would have saved the shots of the drama. In addition, I just watched the CBS videos from Ep 2: 1) Sarah says it's better to have one less athletic person than one who brings down the tribe's energy. At that time she means Sean. 2) Sean and Hunter walk on the beach and Sean TRIES to explain to Hunter why he thinks they are losing challenges--not enough down time and no energy left. We've heard Sarah express this philosophy too. Hunter basically refused to listen; he said, hey, I feel great and ready to go. Well, to quote Brandon on Frank: "not everyone's like you" Hunter. I now see a twisted logic that would cause Mara to boot their biggest challenge asset. Sean, Rob, and Sarah believe Hunter is overworking the team on camp duty and causing them to lose from fatigue, and after 6 straight challenge losses (potentially), it would be time to fire the coach, right? Whereas if Rotu loses and boots Robert, Hunter will be somewhat vindicated and safer next time-- yet there is the Varner spoiler, Tricia and the promo's praise of him (get it in while you can, CBS, cause your all-American hero is history), and Peter's comment about a strong person boot being likely plus his implied dig that his tribe will not succeed in getting to the merge with good numbers because they ignored Peter's idea of keeping the strong. All of these point to Hunter going soon, so when better than after a third straight defeat? Yes, they could vote Gina out, but what does that do to keep Hunter from running the Boot Camp task patrol and spoiling the beach party? Nothing. Alternately, this is all hogwash and the love tribe makes a dead weight/injury boot. Or it's Kathy or Sarah--who both deserve a swift kick! "the fascination of what's difficult..."--W.B. Yeats

LAST EDITED ON 03-13-02 AT 07:29 PM (EST)...it's time for an obvious one The entire episode will focus on her redemption, and the weakness of Robert (and John's injury)... and then Kathy will go. RC: Rotu. EDITED TO NOTE: A pop-up jumped up right as I was clicking enter... and apparently somehow that caused my vote to go through twice (DAMN POP-UPS!!!) Anyway, I deleted post #123 which had a bunch of gibberish, so if you're looking for it for hte vote tallies, it doesn't exist.
You never know what might be up my sleeeve...

Geez, it looks like I'm going to have to try and beat off all these Johnny-come-lately ROBERT voters just to be able to log a KATHY vote Seriously this is about as close as you can get to a toss-up, see the below for my full thoughts: http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID2/2379.shtml Nice summary Swami... and look, I didn't even violate the rules this week! -SB

Sigh. Tough week, are they going to get any easier? No face time - well, he hasn't done anything but be sick and miss challenges. Now he's hurt. He needs too much food. Rotu must lose an IC. Blah blah blah, I could make an argument for others too. Would be nice to be right, for whatever reason!

130. "Vote totals so far..." |
This is post #130, with 124 votes cast to date. I wanted to post here to commemorate the changing of the leader. Unfortunately, there are good reasons to believe that Robert, Kathy or Hunter is this week's victim -- and Mark Burnett chose to give us NOTHING to help us decide. So...:Robert.....41 Kathy......38 Sarah......20 Hunter.....14 Gina.........5 John.........3 Neleh........1 Paschal.....1 Vee..........1 Sean, Rob, Tammy, Zoe and Gabriel are still UTR.

DOn't have time to list all the reasons....but, with no idea who wins IC it comes down to a couple of things for me.First there is the title to next week's ep, a twist in the wind...I think that in order for there to be a twist (either a tribal swap or Marlboro finally wins something) there must be a set up this week...ie, why would MB spring the swap on them this early unless it was necessary to bail out a tribe. Plus, gonna ride Varner this week (that sounds sick) with little else to go on. Alright, no time to expound.

Because Kathy (who I did vote for as bootee in the 1st episode) has had time to grow on people in her tribe and she's got food and fire and a shelter now so she can relax and not be such a pushy broad.....Whereas Robert from day one has been a big NYC tatoo-man who has been "sickly", deprived of his protein (boo hoo), not exactly one of the tribe's big thinkers or doers....and now he gets HURT??? Boot him out of mercy or necessity; makes no nevermind. There are no Limos on the island and a sick/hurt/hungry male is excess baggage. Don't wait til he trips and falls into the fire!!! Of course if Kathy IS the boot....I'm going to claim the same thing as Webby in his official pick (only in reverse). Dalton PS. While not necessary here; a truly great Summary like the one Swami wrote for E-2 deserves another YEAH BABE, WTG!!!
