""Top" Four Rankings"
You know who would have killed the Bee Gees right? I mean the good kill not the bad dead kill. Can you guess who I’ll say? Should I even bother to say it?

Cuddlepuppy missed his night to outshine the rest (for the second time) by one week. *sniff* *pout*

1. Blake “This is Where I Came In” – because obscurity merits bonus points from Glowie. So in love with him for that. Will put it on the glowPod tonight.
2. Melinda “Love You Inside and Out” – I may consider this on the glowPod as well.
3. Jordin “A Woman in Love” – all comparisons aside... This isn’t karaoke, right? No. Well then, this was really quite good. And this is a Jordin NON-fan saying this. The only reason this won’t end up on the glowPod is because I am not a fan and I will do all I can to not support her in any way.
4. Jordin “To Love Somebody”
5. Blake “You Should Be Dancing” - yikesy Blakey. His worst performance (possibly ever in his life) is still better than..
6. Lakisha “Run To Me” - only because I remember hating it less than the next two
7. Melinda “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” - I thought this was her worst performance to date. I said, “If they say this was better than the first, I’ll scream." Then Randy said it. Yes, I screamed.
8. Lakisha “Stayin Alive” – wowzer. I will say that I liked her off “ah”s.

1. "RE: "Top" Four Rankings"
Not a good night, and shockingly I disagree w/ Glowie on several songs....

(1) Melinda - "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart". Brilliant.
(2) Blake - "You Should Be Dancing". It was good, the beatboxing was corny, but the boy has a great falsetto...and I usually don't like guys singing falsetto (like Ace..) I think he did the song well.
(3) Melinda - "Love You Inside And Out" She can sing anything.
(4) Jordin - "To Love Somebody" She did OK. I still prefer Clay's version from season 2.
(5) Blake - "This Is Where I came In" I enjoyed it. Hadn't a clue what the song was, but he did well.
(6) Jordin - "A Woman In Love" Did not like this, but better than Kiki.
(7) Lakisha - "Stayin Alive" Agreed, she shouldn't have slowed it down and broken up the chorus.
(8) Lakisha - "Run To Me" Just dreadful.

2. "RE: "Top" Four Rankings"
This is a hard week to rank because for the most part, everyone sucked. Blah.

1. Blake "This is Where I Came In" (Shut up, Randy! He didn't beat box for like 4 weeks in a row, then he brings it back last week and rocked it out. Now you want him to stop again? Grrrrr.)

2. Jordin "To Love Somebody"

3. Melinda "Love You Inside and Out" (I hated this at first, but compared to everything else, it wasn't bad.)

4. Blake “You Should Be Dancing” (I don't know what it was, but I didn't really like this. Definitely his worst performance, but still better than most.)

5. Lakisha “Stayin Alive” (Like you said, Glow, I liked the way she alternated the "ahs" with the backup singers. I liked her arrangement, she just didn't pull it off. I'm putting her at #5 because at least it wasn't another yawnfest ballad.)

6. Melinda “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” (I am so freaking bored with Melinda. I no longer consider her a favorite. I think what Paula was trying to say was "Stop being such a bore and do something interesting!!!!!!" I agree.)

7. Jordin “A Woman in Love” (Screechy. Over dramatic. Blah.)

8. Lakisha “Run To Me” (Even more boring than Melinda. I thought BeeGees week would be lively and fun! Boy, was I mistaken.)

(1) Melinda - "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart". Agree with GB - she knocked this out of the park. I am also super-impressed at the way she continues to adapt her style to the song. Lakisha should have taken notice.
(2) Jordin - "To Love Somebody". I really liked this.
(3) Blake - "You Should Be Dancing". Loved this, but I am skewed in my opinion of Blake. Ticks me off that he listens to the judges and brings his style back to the competiton, and then gets knocked for it.
(4) Melinda - "Love You Inside And Out". Didn't expect to like this, but the girl is great.
(5) Jordin - "A Woman In Love". I'll give her credit - a tough song and she did ok.
(6) Blake - "This Is Where I came In". I wish Blake would have chosen differently here given the wide range of choices he had.
(7) Lakisha - "Stayin Alive". Started off ok for me, then got boring in a hurry. Just can't see myself strutting to this version at all.
(8) Lakisha - "Run To Me". Yikes.

Between carp like that and the fact that he's way behind in the pimp spot count you'd think they are trying to make him lose.

"Blake - "This Is Where I came In". I wish Blake would have chosen differently here given the wide range of choices he had."

I totally love him for that. He went through all of those songs and picked one that hardly anybody knows because that's the one he wanted to do.

Of course, my husband and I had a discussion about my complete failure to understand what most other people think is good in the music industry. We watched "I Trust You To Kill Me" and I gotta tell ya, Rocco Deluca and the Burden is some of the best stuff I have ever heard. wowzers. I said to my husband, "They were at the HoB in Cleveland last month. I wish I'd have gone. Tell me how they are playing for a couple hundred people and crap sells out arenas. While we're at it, tell me why is Ryan Star not the most famous person in the world?" He said, "Because you don't tend to like what everybody else likes."

So then after I went off about what I dislike about Jordin, I said, "I guess I just don't understand mainstream music." He gave me a pity nod.

Or chose that because he's smart about Idol history and realizes that the less famous the song, the more likely it is the people will think your version is good.

You could be right too, but Blake has shown me the ability to be very smart in his choices in the competition and I wouldn't doubt that his off-center musical tastes and his brain for the competition led him to take an obscure song. If you screw with "Stayin' Alive", you will get slammed because EVERYONE knows Stayin' Alive. If you screw with "This is Where I Came In", then most of the people won't know the song.

That is kind of what I meant. He chose it because not many people know it. I never heard the song (that I can remember) before Blakey did it last night and I liked it.

He does make some (some) smart choices.

I bet he'd have done better than what we had to see last night. Hey! I think they should have Cuddlepuppy and Sanjaya do Bee Gees songs at the finale. Chris can say, "You fools. At least my BFF Blake tried to mix it up. I love you, Blakey, but this is how it's done."

hrmpf.

But really as long as they make Chris wear a tight shirt with short sleeves, I'm all good. arm porn

6. "RE: "Top" Four Rankings"
FTR, I agree with Corvis that was the worst show ever of AI...I don't like the genre either and obviously it didn't work...but Corvis watch out, he's Barry Fricking GIBB!!

1. Blake “This is Where I Came In” – I loved this song..and love Blake...I realized watching it last nite that if Blake goes tonite I would be hard pressed to do anything but DVR the rest of the shows and zip thru all the songs and hear what the judges, actually just Simon, have to say...

2. Blake “You Should Be Dancing” - this was not good Blake but I liked it better than anything else...I hate this genre and I'm so tired of the divas.

3. Lakisha “Run To Me” - this was good better than the rest, I liked the lyrics the best...

4. Melinda “Love You Inside and Out” – this was ok, but the judges were right, she needs to wow and it's just meh

5. Melinda “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” - meh

6. Jordin “To Love Somebody”--meh meh

7. Jordin “A Woman in Love” – this was awful awful awful...she did not sing it well at all and it was totally inappropriate for a 17 year old and she looked so old like Simon said in that horrible dress. In the USA Today report, they said it was her first made to order dress...don't use that designer any more...

8. Lakisha “Stayin Alive” – why didn't she listen to Barry...He's Barry fricking Gibb...I was waiting for Jimmy Fallon to come onto the stage and scream at her for not taking his advice...yoiks that was bad.

tribey is my American Idol!

well, you see I like the song and thought she did ok in th e beginning of the song...I FFed almost all of the songs last nite (watched it late in evening and tired) and did not hear the screech at the end. I thought Melinda's were just blah...I think she is a better singer of course but last nitht was meh for me for her.

I thought they pretty much all sucked.

1. Jordin: A Woman in Love. I liked it.
2. Melinda: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.
3. Jordin: To Love Somebody.
4. Melinda: Love You Inside and Out. I believe Latoya London did this in an earlier season, and Latoya's was way better.
5. Blake: This is Where I Came In.
6. Blake: You Should Be Dancing.

I did not care for the bebopping.

7. Lakisha: Run to me.
8. Lakisha: Stayin Alive.

The absolutely killed the Bee Gees. Killed them.

well I can't rank them all, because I didn't tape it (since I already you from you fine, discriminating folks that the show was going to blow) and I frankly don't remeber much of anything.

except I thought Blake's first one was quite fine, and the second one was disappointing. and melinda was flawless as usual, but not as stand-outish as usual, which I guess is what paula and simon tried to tell her.

so.

1. Blake “You Should Be Dancing”
2. Melinda, just because. what did she sing again?
3. Jordin. what did she sing again? She actually was at top form, and maybe should be above Melinda, but I just can't do it.
4. what's-her-face. the talented diva who ignores the coaches. what did she sing again?

Blakes' second one, that 2001 song, goes in the middle somewhere.

I know, this was such a deep contribution to this discussion!

I'll throw my two cents in here:

Jordin: To Love Somebody-best of the night-I think the judges agreed, too, didn't they??

Melinda: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart-WHY OH WHY was she so afraid to sing the words??? GEEZ ALREADY! If you're going to get voted off, whatever....I hated that, but the singing was ok.

Blake: This is Just Where I Came In-one of my all time BG faves-hated the beatbox stuff, but he did good on the Robin stuff!

Lakisha: Run To Me-not bad, at least not as bad as the other (bottom) 4

Jordin: Woman In Love-a little screetchy, but better than the other bottom 3

Melinda: Love You Inside And Out-eh

Lakisha: Staying Alive-double eh

Blake: You Should Be Dancing-go home already
