**ducks for swing from Catty ** LOL, that's right, you better duck.
I really liked Melissa's voice -- if anything, she was robbed by Kevin who really was the worst of the 12. Kellie & Bucky were the only "Country" singers, so Melissa wasn't Kellie's direct competition.
This season was the best overall. When it started, I had so many to root for -- Taylor, Chris, Kellie, Kat, Lisa, Mandisa, Paris (Melissa would have been a fave if the producers gave her more air time!!!) Over time, Mandisa's screaming got old & then she had to go and make that remark, something about Paris just got under my skin and poor little Lisa was booted (plus she had the scary eyebrow thing going on )
But, again, GREAT group of talent this year. This is an "Idol Tour" I'd actually get tickets to, if I didn't think I'd be surrounded by screaming tweenies.
I've been listening to the tracks online to decide whether I want to buy the CD -- I probably will, because I think many of these contestants are going to make it and it will be nostalgic to look back and say, remember when so-and-so was a contestant on AI and was voted off? Just wish there were different songs for some of my faves -- i.e. CHRIS, Kat.
Here's my rankings:
I REALLY Like, Enjoy Listening to & Evokes a Feeling
1. Ace -- Evokes my sexy/sensual feeling. Hmmmmm. While Ace was one of the weaker singers, IMO, Father Figure was his best song performed on the show and sounds GREAT on the CD.
2. TAYLOR -- Evokes my funky side & I just wanna move! Love me some Soul Patrol. He's great.
3. Bucky -- Evokes my bad girl side. I wanna go out and get myself in trouble. Bucky sounds great on the CD. I was lukewarm to Bucky during his stint on AI, but he knocks Superstition out of the park. He started growing on me and he got the boot.
4. Melissa -- Evokes my "brings back great memories" side . Melissa has a great recording voice and I wish she would have lasted a little longer on AI -- she deserves to be on theh "Idol Tour." Great song -- tied with Kellie for 4th fave.
5. Kellie -- Evokes my inner country girl, I guess. She just makes me smile and happy. I, for one, love the sound of Kellie's voice and Walkin' is right up her alley. She really can sing, she just has to get some experience under her belt and losw just a little of her twang -- just a little. I like that as soon as I hear her voice, I instantly know it's Kellie -- just like Taylor. Plus she has personality to spare.
Good, but just don't get me excited
6. Chris -- I blame the song, not the singer. Why this song of all his performances???
7. Kat -- another where I blame the song, not the singer. Still think she's great.
8. Lisa-- She really has an amazing voice. If Paris wasn't on the show, I think she would have made it further. I like that I when she sings, I recognize her voice. (In comparison to Paris, who still is more "immitating").
9. Paris -- Big voice and hopefully if she takes a little guidance, she'll play to her strengths and have a big future.
Thinking back, overrated & wonder why she was a fave of mine
10. Mandisa -- Prefer when she belts and doesn't scream. See her as background singer, though.
*Yaaaaawwn* Sleepytime
11. Elliott -- Don't like the song at all. He can sing, but he's nothing special to me.
Time to hit the "skip" button
12. Kevin -- At least we only had one person in the top 12 who really didn't deserve to be there. I said it before -- lost the speech impediment and get a vocal coach and maybe he has a chance. Better yet, his ticket is voiceover work for cartoons.
Just remember, Emy, I love Chris, it's just the song.
