LAST EDITED ON 04-27-06 AT 09:47 AM (EST)I believe from here on out, the contestants will be singing TWO songs each week. This week's "theme" is: * ONE SONG FROM THE YEAR THEY WERE BORN, and * ONE SONG FROM THE CURRENT TOP TEN LIST Then, if history is any clue, they should be blowing the dust off Clive Davis and let him pick the songs one week, then the "Judges Week", where they pick the songs for the singers. Whetever it is, it will sound better now that PICKLES is gone! HAHA!

I think it would be cool if they chose the song that was number one from the DAY they were born, if they did that this is the songs they would sing (based on this site http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/member/birthdayno1.php) CHRIS DAUGHTRY- Escape (The Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes 12/26/1979 ELLIOTT YAMIN- Shadow Dancing - Andy Gibb 7/20/1978 KATHARINE MCPHEE- Footloose - Kenny Loggins 3/25/1984 PARIS BENNETT- Dont Worry Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin 9/23/1988 TAYLOR HICKS- A Fifth Of Beethoven - Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band 10/6/1976

I just listened to A Fifth of Beetoven and I was laughing my @$$ off thinking of Taylor doing an interpretive dance to it. As for the other songe I am listining to Shadow Dancing for Elliott and I could see him singing it. As for the Pina Colada Song for Chris, I could see him making a rock version of it. I could also see Katharine singing Footloose. Paris could do a R&B version of Don't Worry Be Happy.

30. "The Pina Colada Sog" |
Escape (The Pina Colada Song) (Rupert Holmes) I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long. Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song. So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed. And in the personals column, there was this letter I read: "If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape." I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean. But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine. So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad. And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad. "Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne. I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape. At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape." So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place. I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face. It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you." And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew".. "That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape." "If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain. If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain. If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape." *gags* *dies* *revives at thought of Simon's reaction to hearing Chris sing this* *dies again, this time from laughter*

Sorry, couldn't resist....I'm sure you meant to give me a smiley, too, not just the poopy face Seriously, this would be way funnier than Constantine singing "I Thnk I Love You". The judges react: Randy: Dawg, I dunno, I wasn't feelin' it, I mean, this was Rupert Holmes at his PRIME, dude. And I hated that arrangement, you just can't have a mariachi band on stage with you, that's not dope. Paula: I LOOOOOOOVE YOU, WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I'll think of you whenever I drink a Pina Colada - like right now - someday you'll have to tell me what you mean by making love in the rain while doing yoga in champagne. Yeah, yeah, I'll think of you whenever I drink champagne - like now - WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Simon: Look, if I'm being honest, that's a very peculiar song... Chris: Face it, Simon, you just don't like 70's cheese. It's okay, you can admit it. Simon: You're right. And I don't think America's going to buy that you had to take out a personal ad to get laid. dk

> >I think the second song has >to be on the current >Billboard chart, but not just >the top 10. > >That would be ridiculous, to only >have 10 songs to choose >from! As always with these things, the info is so amibiguous, but I think it can be from ANY GENRE of the Top Ten Lists (ie. R+B, POP, Country, etc.)
In any event, the lists better change drastically between now and then, as most of the currently ranked songs are CARP!!!! That's just MY take on it from what I've seen. We'll have to wait til the song selections are leaked this weekend!

Ahh, see...it helps if a Beatles album came out that year.I was born in '65, the year "Help" came out, so my list looks pretty good too. Plus Righteous Bros, Sonny & Cher, the KINKS!!, Stones (Cloud & Satisfaction!) James Brown, Turtles, Yardbirds -- getting psychodelic, still holding onto Elvis. Yay! (Oh, and Roger Miller. Love me some Roger Miller.) On the bad side, I have "The Name Game" "I'm Henry VIII I Am" and, er, Patty Duke. Can't have everything. Needless to say, I'd have a blast singing from my year.
