Last week I gave them all 10's except Chris, this week I'll play right, though I still hate most of 'em.1. Chris- I'd want him to win it all if it wouldn't screw him over. 2. Eliott- He's been one I've enjoyed since they whittled it down to this mess of a group. He's not great, but I don't think he's bad. 3. Katherine- based on this week's performance, I know can stand 3 of 9 (well, 3 of 20 if we want to go all the way back, and we don't.). 4. Mandisa- She can sing alright, but she sings power songs like a power singer- mostly screaming at the top of her lungs. 5. Kellie- only because she's cute, and this week was good for her. 6. Bucky- by default 7. Taylor- Crappy performance (I'd argue "again", but don't feel like fighting it. at least most are willing to go along with me this week). But I still can handle him more than the last 2. 8. Ace- Yes, I hate Paris this much 9. Paris- when you're lower than Ace, you need to go. don't like sunlight, keep me away from water, don't feed me after midnight

Boy, I was shocked at how BAD last night went. Next week should be UNBEARABLE.NO SURPRISE - ROYALTY OF THE NIGHT 1. KELLIE - This night was for her. I still really love the tone of her voice & she is strong when he has the right song. Feel bad for her with all the negativity coming back at her, she seems to be losing a bit of her super bubbly personality. I don't believe it's an act -- she's only 19 & has a lot of growing up and experiencing to do. You go, Kellie!2. BUCKY - In his element and it shows. He's still middle-of-the-pack for me, but he did a great job last night. SURPRISINGLY GOOD 3. ACE - This was one of my 3 shockers of the night . . . this was his best performance since Father Figure. Kenny was right about this being the PERFECT song for Ace.
4. CHRIS - WOW, I was pleasantly surprised by this performance. It was pretty darn good and nice to see another dimension of Chris. He's damn fine! 5. KATHERINE - Great song choice for her, but not a very exciting performance. She is beautiful with a GREAT voice and she's smiley and sweet. I don't understand what's missing. YAWN - MEDIOCRITY 6. TAYLOR - #2 of my shockers of the night. B.O.R.I.N.G. What happened to my man, Taylor? It was like he didn't try and wasn't even there. Vocals were okay, but no energy -- HORRIBLE song choice. Like Simon said, it was as if he picked the song right before he went on stage. I'm still one of "Hicks Chicks" and I want him back next week. Did someone slip a rufie into his drink before the show??
7. ELLIOTT - I really hated his performance. He should've taken Kenny's advice NOT to oversing and try to put in the runs. I saw the look on Elliott's face in the clip with Kenny & Elliott had that "yeah, whatever" look. Show respect --it may not be your "style" but when these people come on TO HELP you, take it seriously. These are people who have LOTS of success and experience, you are nothing right now. TAKE NOTES! THE DOGS WERE HOWLING 8. PARIS - I'm not surprised Paris was weak this week. BUT she needs constructive criticism, people! Paris's major weak spot is the lower register and yet she CONSISTENTLY chooses songs where at least half the song is low and she is dreadfully offkey and weak trying to hit those notes. She is the one contestant that AI is doing NOTHING for. Someone please get this girl on track, she has soooo much potential.
9. MANDISA - My #3 shocker of the night. I thought with all the work she had done with other big country singers, that she would be at the top of my list. That was unbelievably terrible. There was not one good thing about it. Horrible song choice for her, offkey almost the entire song. Ugh!!! Also, she looks so much better when she is in darker colors, especially on the bottom. These last couple of weeks in jeans show everything. She is a beautiful woman & I don't like her trying to look like some hip teenager. The AI stylists really suck this year!!

I've determined that the producers order the contestants singing order from worst to best based on rehearsals. 1. Katharine - Fun song, HOT HOT HOT chick! No Bottom 3 worries this week. 2. Kellie - I can't help it. She's just so cute. And hot. And this was a fun song to watch her perform (loved the eyebrows). 3. Chris - will never leave my top 3. I like that he varied from the "usual" for him BIG Gap.... 4. Mandisa - girl can sing, no matter what. But stay far away fromm horizontal stripes, and crocheted tops. 5. Paris - Not too bad. Started rough but got better. 6. Bucky - not too bad, but it shoulda been "his night" and this came up short. Might be good enough to keep< him around one more week, though.[P>7. Elliot - sounded way off to me, but it must just be how it came over on TV. Not too bad. 8. Ace - Backstreet Boy does country. Bleh. 9. Taylor - can't believe it either. Bad song choice, bad singing. WAY wrong keey for him. I like the lower, gravelly soul voice. Bottom 3: Bucky Ace Paris Sig by Arkie!!

They bunched for me more this time than usual, so I'm going to do groupings, in no particular order.Thought did well. Katharine Paris *gasp* Katharine showed some personality this week and Paris actually IMO picked a song that suited her. I like the reduction in theatrics on her part and actually liked her voice with this song. Did OK for me. Not great, but still pretty good. Bucky-right genre for him. Basically couldn't go wrong. Kellie *pains me to say this but it is the one kind of song I think she actually can sing, it is written with that twang in mind* Chris-showed some range in what he can do, which was good. Didn't try something so whacky that he was doomed to fail, which is also good. However, didn't wow me this week. *sob* Elliot-*meh* every week I'm just meh about him. I think it could be what Kenny mentioned with the over-singing. Even though he toned it down a lot the vibrato didn't seem to suit the song on his held notes. I'm not that big a fan of big vibrato anyway. Could go home based on this performance Ace. The voting pattern is against you, and this performance really didn't have much going for it. Not bad, but not the butt-saving ticket you needed. Mandissa. Should be off just for listening to the stylist. Song did nothing to overcome the wardrobe malfuction that was her outfit. *gasp* *sob*T-T-T-Tay-T-T-T-T-Tay...I can't say it, don't make me. I'm sorry, but that just wasn't your best performance, even with a genre you don't know you can find a song that you are comfortable with, please, don't do this to me again. *faint* Imaginary friends by Bob!

Whoa, that may just have been worse than last week. In fact, it definitely was. That is an hour of my life I'll never get back. And, to make it worse, it was dedicated to country music. Bleh!Disclaimer: All contestants sucked. A higher ranking just means that they sucked less. 1. Katherine - What the hell was that song? Horrible, horrible song. But she really sang the crap out of it. 2. Chris - He gets here for picking the best song of the bunch. And for changing it up a bit. 3. Ace - Halfway decent song. Halfway decent rendition. Which is about as good as Ace will ever get. 4. Elliott - Didn't completely suck. Nerves definitely were back. 5. Taylor - Pretty obvious to me that he hates country about as much as I do. 6. Bucky - About as good as Bucky will ever be. But that is NOT a country song. It's one of the few songs I knew and it's a Vertical Horizon song. 7. Kellie - About as good as Kellie will ever be. But that was DEFINITELY a country song. About a whore, no less. Whatever. I'm not buying what she's selling, that's for sure. 8. Paris - Well, I hate that stoopid, stoopid song. And Paris made it sound worse than it actually is. I didn't think anything could make me hate that song more than I did. But Paris managed. 9. Mandisa - I have no words for how bad that was. No words at all. After the last two weeks, I couldn't care less who goes home unless it's Katherine and Chris. I'm pretty much over them all. And I can't tell you how I dread Queen night. *shudder* Goddess of the Steeler Nation

1. Chris - love Keith Urban, thought he did the song justiceCan't rank the rest because none lived up to expectations. 2. Bucky - love Gary Allan, he's no Gary Allan 2. Kellie - my dh loves that song, he said she was good but I think he was just looking at her oobies 2. Paris - love Trisha, good song for her, I liked her better than I usually do. thought she was flat a few times 2. Elliot - I liked him better than normal this week also, but he should really listen to Kenny - K.I.S.S. 2. Ace - again love Keith, but he is no Mr. Urban. thought the song was too current and comparison was too fresh in my mind. surprised Simon didn't comment on it being a current song 2. Katharine - didn't like the song, it's too all over the place and she looked really stiff in her dancing to me, she's no Faith, either 2. Taylor - song too old, what was he thinking? didn't help him to go first either, I really like Taylor but this was my least favorite performance of his 2. Mandisa - Whaaaaat? Just didn't like it

You may want to sit down to read this. For some reason, I found myself agreeing with Paula more than Simon. Perhaps I really was affected by not eating dinner. 1. Bucky: OMH! Well done, young man. Well done.
2. Katherine: I thought it was a good song choice for her. I really do think she has a beautiful voice. And while I didn't care for the song and I thought she was boring, she still sounded great. 3. Chris: The rocker can sing country. I hate putting him here, but I honestly felt the other two were better. 4. Kelly: Her genre, but it really didn't impress me. Maybe I thought she was trying too hard. I don't know. It just didn't wow me. 5. Taylor: Okay. A little boring. Not his best, but way better than others. 6. Ace: Blah. 7. Paris: Very shaky. She has a great voice. Perhaps it wasn't "sexy" enough for her (*ducks from Geggy*). She just didn't start well. 8. Elliott: Based on the judges' comments, I obviously missed something, but he killed it in the first few lines, and for me he never recovered. 9. Mandisa: GAWD AWFUL!!! And that's an understatement. WTH was she trying to do. Country is not her genre, she tried to do something with it, but she completely blew it. One of the worst performances I have ever seen on Idol. It's Arkie Love

Okay OMI but I am still shocked by katherine being in the bottom three last week. I judge on performance only. and I do it on a weekly basis. Nothing carries over from the last week. 1. Chris - did a good job with a tough song. 2. Katherine - does not suprise me she has a great voice. Those who think she is arrogant are crazy she is confident and well trained, Would you rather she act like an airhead. And play on sympathy. 3. Kellie did a very good job with a genre she should be strong in, no surprise. 4. Paris - did a good job with this song. 5. Elliot not a good performance The next four should be fighting to stay out of the bottom three. Mandisa terrible rendition. She has a voice but has not picked good songs in the past 2 weeks. Bucky should have been stronger, but it was a train wreck to take a phrase from Simon. Taylor, 2 weeks in a row that he was weak, this week was juts terrible. Ace I hope he has sung his last song he has been out of his league for a few weeks now. I will not comment any further, except to say WOW, sometimes I wonder if we all watch a different telecast of the competition. Later jags

LAST EDITED ON 04-05-06 AT 02:02 PM (EST)Crappy, crap-crap, craptastic, crapperful week 1) Kellie - I'm putting her this high? Reluctantly. Good outfit, high energy, didn't miss any words, confident. 'nuff said. Crap, floating to the top of the bowl. 2) Paris - decent song choice. I thought to myself, "crap, she's doing a-ight" 3) Bucky - In his genre, he did well. He really does have a good voice. He borrowed that crappy look from Ace at the end though. 4) Taylor - I really like the song, and I love, love, love him. It was crap - but the others were worse. 5) Katharine - She always looks so lovely. Nice huskiness where it applied. Overall, not as craptastic as the rest. 6) Chris - Nothing too stinky, but not anything to write home about. Here's to hoping he won't be crappy next week. 7) Mandisa - I'm soured on her from previous performances. Song was too high-speed for her. She needs to get rid of the people who keep dressing her like crap. 8) Elliott - I really like Elliott, but this crappy song choice didn't showcase his skills. 9) Ace - Better than usual, I just can't get over his pseudo-charisma. It's pure crap that sinks to the bottom. edited to add: Chris -- so crappy and forgettable it didn't occur to me to include him.

Hoobie, to quote Howard Stern, it was a "Craptacular" show. I hated all of it. Chris was pretty good, though. There are some absolutely beautiful country songs, but I didn't hear any last night. (I am not a country fan.) I look for Mandisa to bite the dust.

Hi Everyone -I was on a business trip and had the pleasure of watching the show alone in the quiet of a Manhattan hotel room. I was actually looking forward to "country week" this season...boy, what a letdown. Taylor...oh my heck, what were you thinking? Mandisa...dittos. Now i'm home, let me give an off-the-cuff ranking list. (1) Kellie. Go figure. I loved her last night. There are first for everything (2) Chris. He surprised me, and he actually sang a nice song. (3) Katherine. She was having a great time with the song. It showed. (4) Ace. Go figure again. Not bad. (5) Bucky. It was OK, nothing spectacular, but better than the following ...insert big drop here... (6) Elliot. This boy has GOT to get over his nerves. It will do him in. I didn't enjoy as much as the judges. ...insert another BIG drop... (7) Paris. Not good Princess P. (8) Mandisa. You can sing ALMOST anything. As Kenny said, there were a lot of words in that song for you to sing. (9) Taylor. Oh my. My favorite of the season at the bottom. Taylor, Taylor, Taylor. What the heck were you thinking? Simon was 100% right. That was totally boring, uninspired, and very very weak for the talents you have. I was disappointed. With that said, i do NOT think Taylor will be in the bottom three. He will get a reprieve for his up-until-now consistantly stellar performances. My bottom three prediction?: Paris Ace Mandisa I think Paris could very well go home. geekboy

(sorry Glowie, firmly in the Bucky loving camp too) Just read on another message board that Taylor has STREP THROAT! He had a high temp last night. They even moved Elliott away from him so he wouldn't catch it. Good lord I knew something was really wrong. I'm proud of my man for hanging tough! And, no way will he be in the bottom 3, I think he's been the top vote getter since the get go and last night was no different.

Taylor Hicks I still love Taylor. He’s still my number one. He did seem lazy last night. Part of me wonders if he was over compensating for earlier comments about him being manic. I wouldn’t count it as cocky “I’m too safe to worry”…more like a confused, “why am I here?” thing.Elliott Yamin Still love Elliot. Love the fact that Kenny Rogers specified “skills” rather than “talent” – they are 2 different things. I do think that Elliott has both skills AND talent, but now TWO guest coaches have told him he needs to pay more attention to the lyric, the story. I think he gets it, but that’s not an easy concept to just “fix” in a week or two. Also agree with Kenny that Elliott (any MANY singers) hide behind their runs. Mandisa Hmmm. Still very talented, but getting bored with the girl. Might be because of the anti-gay rumors. Chris Daughtry Eh. He’s a good singer. News Flash: It is possible to remain true to yourself AND show versatility. It’s just that you have to actually BE versatile. Chris sounded like he put on a ‘Country’ accent for that song, and that’s just weird. Clearly a karaoke thang. Bucky Covington Bucky did a good job. He may not be as vocally skilled as Elliott, but he does know how to feel a song. Katharine McPhee I must really be crabby, because I’m just so bored with these people. Katharine included. Or especially. She sings very well. Her performances don’t feel genuine to me. Too contrived, ‘practiced.’ Yawn. I’d rather see a little grit. Paris Bennett Oy. Dress-Me-Up-Paris picked a song I HATE. She still has a major problem singing softly, and sounded frankly bad until she started belting. PLUS – she did the HORRIBLE pronunciation that Leeann Whatserface does…”how can I LEEEVE without you.” It’s LIHVE. Kellie Pickler Just don’t like her. At all. She did a decent job, her diction still sucks. She sings her diphthongs so heavily that it sounds like a put-on. Ace Young Pretty good for Ace. He’s still vocally spanked by everyone else that’s left. He really should get a teacher to help him sing without engaging his adenoids. And I wish they’d quit pimping his falsetto. It’s not that great. Bottom 3? Ace, Paris, Kellie. Going home? Ace.

Kellie. I so wasn't expecting her to be best. Katharine. She actually has some pesonality? Haven't this side of her before ... but GIJ is going to trash that outfit I'm afraid. And I can't wait, lol. Ace. Finally, his first good performance. Probably saved his booty with that one. Paris. Not my favorite of hers, by a long shot. But she pulled it off decently anyway. Chris. Was he off? I wanted to like it, but .... I didn't quite. Elliott. Hot, Randy? really? and hahah that look on simon's face when Paula said he showed a reckless adandon! Not. Mandisa. Can't wait for the GIJ review of that get-up. And the vocal didn't redeem it. Bucky. oh no! how can you blow country night?? Taylor. Wow. Even Paula didn't like it. And it sounded worse on the recap!

1. Chris - Not an amazing performance, but still the best of the night. 2. Ace - Who'd have thunk it? 3. Bucky - He's better doing uptempo country, but the ballad wasn't that bad. 4. Kellie - I think the pre-performance interview shook her up. I just hate how she walks around by stomping around onstage. 5. Paris - Not the best version I've heard. A lot of out-of-tune moments, but better than Vonzell's version last year. 6. Katharine - I STILL don't get the Katharine lvoe. I barely heard the verses and I almost always jumped when she suddenly screams the chorus. 7. Elliott - Nerves got the better of him. 8. Mandisa - Bland and unappealing. 9. Taylor - Completely disappointing. I would've thought that Taylor would be one of the best because the theme was almost custom-tailored for him, Bucky, and Kellie.
