"American Idol- the final 32!"
All right, so we've narrowed it down. Not enough in my opinion, several primadonnas got to stick around who shouldn't have. But it was nice to see them attempt a bit of a storyline this time instead of just constant shots of them rehearsing and auditioning.

An interesting note this time: the judges at least seem to be more willing to overlook "style" and go more with substance. People like Clay, Frenchy, and Patrick would never have made it to the final 30 last year. It's nice to see them look more at the voices and not so much at the "look". Too many "pretty" people made it last year, this year we've got a bit more diversity at least.

Some early thoughts-

I really like Patrick, the big rocker guy. Kind of looks like a heftier James Hetfield. He also sounds like he can do more of a "pop" style if necessary, but may have trouble with the "retro" nights. Maybe this year's Nikki?

Clay surprised me. When I saw him, my first thought was that he was another of those blasted Weasleys. But DAMN. Boy's the Jim Nabors for the New Millenium. This year's Jim?

Hercules guy is really going to be hurt by how old he looks. I just don't see how you can make him look even close to his real age.

Joshua reminds me of a pro wrestler. He's a little stiff, but hey, he's a friggin marine. Hopefully he can loosen up, he's got a good look.

Frenchie is going to be fun to watch, I think. She's not going to make it to the final 10 I think, but she could easily be this years Ta-Mi-Ka.

Still too early to pick a winner, though. If I recall, Kelly was pretty much hidden through the first few episodes and we all know what happened to her. I agree with Simon though, the talent level is much higher this year than last year, and I think we're in for a good ride.

On a side note, a friend of mine actually auditioned for AI2, but never made it to Simon & co. I'm guessing they do two auditions, one for generic judges, and then the very best and very worst make it to the "real" judges for TV purposes.

I can't believe they did not give a shot to the crooner guy and put that loser with the Justin hair (that went out one of the nights) in the final 32. And that other blond that went out the night before in the final 48. How insulting.

>I really like Patrick, the big

I really like that guy too, he can even sing. I'm not sure he will make it though, he is not as pretty as Nikki.

I love this guy, hope he makes it. He is all over the news here in SD.

Are you kidding? Frenchie's fabulous. Tamika could not sing and had no presence or style. Frenchie could very well make it to the final 12.

I know that the show is enamored with the Adams kid, what little we saw of him on this episode, was nothing special.

The drama with the two girls, the blonde and the boobalicious one, sorry I forget their names, was a lot of fun.

All these storylines were great. One observation though, I few of the kids that we saw in auditions were not seen again. Like the shirt guy from yesterday's show. Which we could have seen them.

I think they proved that in LA. They would get thousands and only a few hundred would see the judges. Can you imagine Simon's mood if he had to see all those peeps?

Overall I think the final 32 deserve to be there. The final 12 should be good ones.

I agree. Crooner guy took it well though, and I really think he should make his way out to Vegas. I know they've got Elvis impersonators, do they have Frankie impersonators?

All 3 party guys should've been cut before the 48. Did Battie(?) make the final 32? I hope so, I'd hate to think that their stupidity cost a quality contestant their shot.

What, you saying fat guys can't be pretty? He's got enough of a unique look that I think he'll make it to the final 10, although where he goes from there is anyone's guess.

OK, then you can answer this for me hopefully. Is he still on active duty or is he reserves? Cause if Dubya decides that we have to show Iraq who has the bigger pee-pee, this guy might have to pull out. And that would suck.

I'd really hope so, along with the big guy who wore the old-school Braves cap and football jersey. The more plus-size people we get in there, the happier Mrs. Malfoy and I will be.

My comparison to Ta-MI-Ka comes in attitude. She could definitely be kept by the producers to fill the same role, only 10 times more fabulous. But she seems to have found another niche as well, playing "Momma" to a lot of the contestants.

>I know that the show is
>enamored with the Adams kid,

He could easily make the Final 10, based solely on looks, but I don't know if the "Presidential Candidate" can make it all the way, unless all the voting is done in Florida.

The blonde looks VERY familiar... was she on another singing show?

That happened a LOT. The problem is you're doing a reality TV show with 5 billion characters, most of whom will be irrelevant by the end of the 2nd week. But you're right, I honestly have no clue if this guy made it or not. Same with the Ryan clone. *shiver*

>Overall I think the final 32

Is it 10 or 12? I'm assuming we're going with 4 groups of 8. With a final 10, you do 2 from each show and then the judges get 2 Wild Cards. With a final 12, the judges get no wild cards this year. But they seem to kind of be winging it as they go anyways, the commercials kept mentioning a final 32, but I noticed several times during the actual show they mentioned only a final 30.

Love Frenchie!

I picked Adams from the first, but after last night I thought I was going to have to self-destruct that post. He's going to have to suck it up and put out the effort if he's going to do well.

Did the girl that sang "Fever" for her audition make it? I can't keep them straight now.

The audience that votes on this show are mostly young girls, and he's not at all pretty. BUT, I personally agree with you, he is one of the most deserving to be there.

I believe the military said that he was going to be in it for the duration of the show. His platton is still at Camp Pendleton. There have been rumors that his platoon is still here BECAUSE this kid is on the show. The military denies it.

They did say that if the platoon is called, that is WOULD go, but would leave without this kid, the military has committed to having him on the show, because he brings them great press, best type of recluitment commercial for them.

You know, I agree. I just can't picture from where. Where the hell's "The Smoking Gun" when you need them?

My mistake, you are correct. It's two slots per show and the judges select 2 wild cards.

Absolutely. But the minute they have him singing "Yvan eht nioj", I quit.

According to her bio, she racked up five straight wins on Star Search, but that had to have been a while back, probably she was a kid. I want to say it was "Pop Stars" but I'm not sure.

DRACO! Everyitme I see that episode of the Simpsons, that song stays in my head for 3 or 4 days. Want to take a guess what song is playing in my head right now? \

I agree about Frenchie. She does have an awesome voice. That girl can flat out sing, and she looks great. I would love to see her go very far in this show.

The blonde does look familiar. I just can't place her.

The rock-n-roll guy, does anyone else think he would do a great job with some Springsteen material? I'd love to hear him try.

The talent level is better this time around. Lucky, lucky us!

Yes, Bettis made it. I was thinking the same thing you were - that those idiots shouldn't be allowed to screw up his chances.

Mr. Bebo liked Julie the hairdresser (the one who was having practice issues with her group). I'd like to see a catfight with her and the other one from the quartet who made it. But then again, if Julie's sister wasn't there to fight for her, it probably wouldn't be a good match.

And we're both Frenchy fans! I was glad to see the judges are giving the public a chance to say which is more important, voice or image. She can flat-out sing, and I think there are a lot of people who will be willing to vote for her because of her talent.

Of course he liked her, she's boobielicious Oh yeah, and she can actually sing too.

The thing about Frenchie is that, this woman DOES have a look. She has presence and for a singer that is key. She might be overweight, but someone with her talent and presence CANNOT be ignored. I think she will make the final 10 and then get out of her way, I think she might actually win this thing. I honestly do believe this.

Of course he liked her, she's boobielicious Oh yeah, and she can actually sing too.

Since he's a professional singer, the voice is what matters to him. I have seen him ridicule many a boobilicious babe (or even turn the channel) if she can't sing. Yes, he's a breast man, but he's ultrasensitive about the singing stuff.

The thing about Frenchie is that, this woman DOES have a look. She has presence and for a singer that is key.

Yup, she does. She has a lot more polish and presence than some of those folks who looked like they had just gotten out of bed. But last year, the judges wouldn't have given her the chance she deserves and decided not to take her because she didn't have the "look".

They actually showed several of the candidates they touched on during the first 3 eps, but they weren't highlighted so you could miss it. For example, the Fever girl was cut in the first or second group and they showed a clip of her crying "I don't want to go back home." The Seacrest lookalike made it to the Final 48 I believe before getting cut. There was shot of the girl who begged her way to Hollywood crestfallen as she stood in a line that was cut. I actually realized the editing was very good upon viewing it for the 2nd time.

In addition to Star Search, Kimberly was on Pop Stars too. She was known for faking fainting/vomiting so that she could disguise her horrible dancing skills.

Didn't like the rocker guy... i dont know there is just something about him, he doesnt fit the "american idol." I like Juila that hairdresser, she is good. I liked one of the party guys (not the one who made it), not that stupid guy with the white hat, but the blonde one who yelled at the kiss ass. I thought he was good. Wasn't that SO sad how Paula had to tell that one group that they didnt make it? Did you see that one girl collapse? SO SAD! (i have to admit i almost laughed though)

If I had the patience to do it i would, but someone should set up our traditional contests for this show too.
The PTTE could be for the final 10 while the anti-elimi contest could be for the final 32 with a special rule for the wild cards.
