What can I say? I hate to leave things unfinished, so I had to watch again, and will continue watching. The remote has a mute button, after all.I missed the first part of this episode. I didn't tune in until they were all in the workroom with Todd telling them what their new assignment was. I'm glad it was an individual challenge, because I really don't care for the team challenges on a show where the contestants need to be able to demonstrate their *own* individuality. But that's just me.
So, they were told they would be designing a bedroom. They would be assigned their clients by a random drawing. Each designer was given a folder that had very little information about their client. They had to pull together a plan and go shopping in the PDC for furniture ($8k budget) before meeting the client.
SURPRISE! You thought these were adults you were designing for, but no! The clients were all 10 year old children. Now you have an additional $300 (except Goil and Elizabeth(?), last week's winners, who got an extra $100) to buy more items at a department store.
The rooms - like I actually remember -
Elizabeth - did a soccer room
Goil - most, if not all, of the furniture was on wheels
Michael - his room was described as looking like a room in an Assisted Living Facility. I work for a company that runs nursing homes and ALF's - this was a very accurate description.
Ryan - "you can't design a room around a cat" 'nuff said.
Carisa - I thought this was a very cool room. Her client was interested in South America. She had a (oh man, I knew I wouldn't be able to remember) was the back wall green? Anyway, she had a lot of plants against that wall, behind the bed, and the two side walls were orange, according to the judges. They looked red on my TV. She built the side tables onto the bed, and built a desk onto the foot of the bed. Except for the ropes hanging from the ceiling off to the side of the bed, I wouldn't mind having this room for myself. (The ropes would have to be *over* the bed for me. )
John - John ran out of money and didn't have a floor. But he did something to half of the floor. Whatever it was, the floor was horrible looking, and so the room looked bad. I liked what he had done. Too bad he didn't have a finished room.
Felicia - It was a chess-inspired room. The headboard was stained and painted to look like a chess board. Because they were only allowed to have a twin bed, Felicia turned her bed sideways against the wall to take up more space against the head board.
Erik - Ahoy, matey! Swab the decks! He did a pirate room. It was very theme-park looking. But the client loved it.
Matt - Did a sophisticated room, with black & white linens, and had recessed lighting on the back wall to resemble the lights on a make-up mirror.
Andrea - I'm trying to remember what she did to this room. It was plain. But that's all I'm coming up with. The client would have liked some more girly, glittery stuff. Andrea said she had bought stuff like that, but ran out of time.
Top 3 - Erik, Carisa, and (UGH! was it Matt or Goil? I'm leaning towards Matt)
Bottom 3 - Michael, John, and Ryan.
Erik won, and has immunity for next week. Michael & Ryan can stay, and John was eliminated.
