"Clarence & Tom are buddies?"
A lot of people seem to think Clarence will go soon. But I'm getting the impression that he's been rehabilitated since his early missteps (or misswallows). Tom and Clarence seemed to be getting along just fine, sort of like a Rich/Rudy or Bunky/Kent odd couple. We're getting to the point where brains become more important than brawn, and Clarence appears as smart as an ox. (Although his parting comment when holding up his Silas vote showed he has good insight into people.)

I think Clarance and Tom relied on each other for support. Clarance's missteps early in the game earned a chastising, but I think Tom became a father-figure to the tribe.

Clarance is in trouble since the switch, because of prior votes (thanks, Tom) and his being an individual threat. If Boran goes back to TC, I think Clarance is gone.

This is a good point. When put into an unfamiliar and very difficult situation, people need some kind of stability and look for their parents - a lifelong symbol of security. Thus it's natural for an older person to assume the role at some point. Rudy, Rodger, Kent on BB2, now Tom. This could keep him around for a while to come.
