"MB is no dummy, merge solution = "Ambassadors"."
Situation: Merge approaches, Sambs are dominating.

Solution: 1 Day prior to merge, 3 Sambs are randomly selected to be "Ambassadors" (Sambassadors) and stay overnight with the Bors.

Outcome: 3 Sambs will commune with 2, 3 or 4 Bors. At least one of 3 Sambassadors will be mall rat. Mall rat will find opportunity to detail out the Samb tribe situation and entice an alliance. This opportunity would be much less if all the Sambs were around (as in a normal merge).

Outsider bias: Observers of the show (us) think of how obvious it will be that when the big merge comes the mall rats will simply join with the Bors. MB knows better than to "hope" this happens, he must "nudge" this to happen, and hence does the "Ambassador" trick to catalyze the situation.

MB Reasoning: The dynamics of an entire player merge is inhibitory to redrawn alliances, too many eyes and ears (as we have observed in prior shows). Everyone is courting everyone, no one is trusting anyone. I think that Tom and Lex would be more drawn to the personalities (we have seen how that can dominate over sensible alliances) in the Geriatric Alliance than to the personalities in the Mall Rat Alliance. Just too risky to "see what happens" at merge.

Evidence: We have been shown details of alliance info (unlike former shows) because it will come back to bite them. They formed them too soon and too strong. The lesson from S3 will be to balance alliance strength and tribe strength.

OK, I'm not that confident in this, I just put myself in MBs funny hat and this is what popped out. Please point out weaknesses.

***Bonus Outcome Possibilities of "Sambassadors": 1) At Boran Camp: Geriatric Sambassador(s) may try to create own new alliances with Borans and/or other Mall rat Sambassadors. 2) At Samb Camp: New alliances are formed amongst those left at camp.

(please don't reply with "hey how about MB breaks them into 3 tribes", that horse is dead)

I agree that horse ain't dead yet, but out of respect, I'll not hijack this thread and instead look for somewhere else to make my points.

I was an early opponent of the 3 tribe rumor, but not any longer.

Congrats on reaching 100 posts, mavs; and I haven't forgotten I'll owe you a "good going there" if the teams thing comes about. Actually, I had a concept I posted on Survivindawg's thread, I'll have to look that one up.

Okay, here's the link

No point in dragging all of Dawg's thread back from page 7.

Anyway, the idea I thought of, but then forgot completely about, was that in the merged tribe players could be grouped into random teams for challenges, as by the drawing of lots; two teams of five could be formed in episode 7, three teams of 3 in episode 8, two teams of 4 or four teams of 2 in episode 9. This would become impossible to do evenly in episode 10 with only 7 players remaining, though.
