"The greatest indictment of Bush" |
I just realized this a couple of weeks ago.....that in the entire time Bush has held the office of president I have never once referred to him as being the president, nor have I EVER called him President Bush (present sentence excluded smart@sses).Its always just Bush, or George Bush, but never Prez Bush. To me, he's not the president...and it has nothing to do with him stealing the election. I just can't, in my mind, accept him as being a president of anything, let alone the US. It just doesn't fit. He's too much of a fvcking moron for my mind to draw the bridge between complete idiot and president. Plus, I have absolutely no respect for the guy which also makes it difficult to accept him as the president.
He's like a charicature of a human being, something you would expect to see fictionalized on The Simpsons. I'm glad I don't travel outside the US very often cause I would be absolutely embarassed to be an American with that guy as our representative. In fact, if I met anyone from another country the first thing I would say is that I'm American, but I hate Bush. Throughout history it has always been said that certain amounts of casualties are acceptable in order to obtain a greater good. In that spirit I have no trouble admitting that I hope and pray (figure of speech) everyday when I open the newspaper that there will be countless dead American soldiers littering the front pages cause I know that every dead US soldier will only serve to make Bush look worse and that in turn may lead to him not being in charge anymore.....and that is easily worth sacrificing American lives in my opinion.

>Scam, how so? and how else >are we supposed to do >it?? > >>=2 font face = "arial"]after >2000 i can see how >so, but I think you >mean it in some other >way... > ...because I like you Amy I'm gonna actually attempt to explain it which normally I wouldn't even bother to do. I'm going to do this briefly cause I don't expect anyone to understand it.
When this country was founded back in 17whatever we just came off a monarchy where we were essentially ruled by one person. Keeping that in mind, this country was originally created to combat the effects of a monarchy. Therefore, several rules and/or features were put into place in order to insure that we would never again be subject to the "rule of one". Included in those were term limits on elected officials, checks and balances on policy and law making and stuff of that sort. I believe that the MAIN purpose of the forfathers when building this nation and the constitution was to make it nearly impossible for one person to have too much power. A very noble idea, however what the effect has been is that now it is impossible for ANYBODY to make a difference or get anything accomplished. With so many checks and balances and so much red tape coupled with term limits this country essentially runs itself regardless of who is in office. Therefore I don't think it matters who you vote for, the machine runs itself. And part of that machinery is keeping the populus sedated and the mechanism for this is to convince people that their voice actually matters even though it clearly doesn't. Think about it, a President is in office for 4 years. He spends 6 months just getting acclimated, and then he spends the last 2 years trying to get re-elected, leaving him with essentially 1 1/2 years to actually work at his job. What can really get accomplished in a year and a half given the many hoops the system has designed for you to jump through in order to get anything accomplished???
That's all I'm gonna say about that...there's much more to it but that is basically the abridged version.
And also, everyone talks about a monarchy as if it is inherently a bad thing. I disagree. Sure, there have been some awful tyrants in history, but there have also been some wonderful kings, people like Solomon. I fully agree with Aristotle's idea of a philosopher/king as being the ideal leader. Also, as an aside, I have a serious problem with ANYONE who would want to be President. IMO, only a complete idiot/egomaniac would want to be Prez, so in true Catch22 fashion, I don't want anyone to be president who actually wants to be president...Ithink that in itself is a recipe for disaster.

>>Therefore I don't think it matters who you vote for, the machine runs itself.Come on. Do you think we'd be in Iraq if Bush hadn't been elected? Do you think the US would have an annual budget deficit of close to $500B? Do you think you'd be ashamed to identify yourself as an American when you're abroad if Bush and his neo-con chickenhawks hadn't pissed off the world every chance they got? Competence and intelligence of the President matters. Although I agree with your sentiments about Bush, the idea that replacing him won't make a difference just has no logic behind it whatsoever. Here's your crown, you are the undisputed King of all the cynics. We might as well call up England and ask if we could have good old George II back in charge. On second thought, I actually LIKE the fact that I get to vote for my leaders and I know that if I didn't vote it wouldn't matter....but if a bunch of "I"'s decided not to vote, it does make a difference. Having the actual RIGHT to vote, actually makes all the difference in the world. It keeps polticians from pissing off so many people so much that they lose their jobs. It's how we all hold elected officials accountable, even if it IS en masse.

...although I always appreciate the way you stick up for me..all the cool kids used to pick on me when I was a kid {/channeling Rupert}....where was I? Oh yeah, thanks, but as part of my running contract here at SB.com bashing me personally is always allowed since I basically do it all the time. It's only fair that if I am gonna put myself out there others should be allowed to call me on it.I've never had a problem with that...since, after all, I am far and away the biggest DAW here and therfore love any attention I can get, positive or negative, but especially negative. I think the biggest reason why I have always been so popular (here and in real life) is that even though I am a huge smart@ss jerk I can take it even better than I dish it out, and people have to respect that.

Maybe Shakes was claiming to know all Truth, but I was only admitting to being cursed with brains. Having a high IQ doesn't directly related to knowledge (rain man for example). There are many 'geniuses' who are lazy and unsuccessful, and also many people who work hard with what they have to get somewhere. So some traits I'd say are always 'blessings'--such as a good work ethic, self-discipline--while others can be disguised 'curses'.Take your post for example. While I don't think I'm omni-anything, being intellectual has probably hindered me from truly gaining Wisdom. Faith, fear of God, simply 'being in the moment' are not things that come easily to me. Where I 'should' get to a point in my faith similar to how a child trusts his/her parents...my head gets in the way. See the curse? Handcrafted by RollDdiceI could go on in many other areas of how it is a curse, but will spare any unfortunate soul for now.

>Smart people know a lot. > >Real smart people also know there >is a lot they don't >know. >...I've always said that my smartest trait is that I realize that I don't really know anything and because of that I am very open minded and willing to learn from others. I'm always willing to listen to all sides of every argument and to formulate my opinions only after I've heard from everyone. Also, I'm also willing to change my opinions or my ways if I learn something I didn't know before. Not a lot of people can say that. So, do you consider it a contradiction or just a vicious circle, or even a catch-22 to say that you are smarter than everyone else because you admit you are stupid. Keep in mind that "smart" is a relative term.

Hey Jimbo, I get it. I had a very "smart" brother who, quoting my sister, "Had no redeeming social skills". His intelligence always got in his way and came off as arrogant, however he was the most insecure needy person I've ever known. I loved him deeply for all his traits, admired his intelligence and always talked philosphy, religion with him. What he didn't know, unfortunately, was his downfall. Shakes, in my "How did I get here" (OT) post I stated that I was both appalled and intrigued with with your posts in BB5. Still stands. Enjoy them while I'm "shakes head in disgust". Your summation of our "democracy" is right on target to me "intellectually", but emotionally I resist any realization that's that HOPELESS. Thanks god, or whomever, for my emotional side. Sense??

OMG!!!!! That happened to John the other day.He called me from his cell phone on dinner break and still disgusted told me how some crankster loser tried to talk his way out of driving without a license plate, registration, insurance and suspended license by saying that his Father's body had finally been found in Vietnam and he had used all his money to fly over to claim the body. ("Don't you recognize me from the news Officer?") And to prove it, he had an MIA/POW calender card in his wallet and the bumper sticker where his license plate was supposed to be. After running his name for outstanding warrants John said, "Nice try buddy. It would have made more sense if you didn't have a bench warrant out for not reporting to your parole officer last week after being released from Folsom (State Prison) ONE MONTH AGO." Unbelievable.
