"Is the math off for Bevin?" |
Last night when she admitted to the divorce, I caught a couple of "math" discrepancies. Did I "hear" right....or did I misunderstand?Bevin starts off by saying to Andy that she'd been rebellious, etc., and while a "young teenager" had married; it didn't work out; and she divorced. Then to the "camera," she said she'd been divorced "six years." Hmm. I'll admit that I'm not a math whiz, BUT: she's now 28; she's been divorced "six years," which takes her back to 22. Uh, "22" isn't exactly a "young teenager".........even if she married at 18 or 19, which I personally wouldn't consider a "YOUNG teenager," it would imply that she was married for 3 to 4 years---at least. Is something weird there? Wouldn't Andy have asked the natural questions: "At what age did you marry? How long were you married? Any children?" Having been married, having married a divorced man, and having had lots of friends who've been divorced, these are "natural" questions when someone is forthcoming about that part of their private lives. What's up with the math in Bevin's "disclosure"? Or am I just nit-picking here????

LAST EDITED ON 05-09-07 AT 01:01 PM (EST)I'm glad you posted this. I did the same math in my head and wondered the same thing about his seemingly blase reaction to this important news that she waited way to long to mention. I can only assume that his reaction was so vague because he really doesn't care. This far into the process, he's already made his choice - and if it's not her it just doesn't matter. This won't prevent them from having some fun in Hawaii together, and of course exploring that "chemistry" in the over night shared suite. Also - what about the obvious lie regarding never having been up to Snoqualime Falls with a guy before. Come on. If it's 30 minutes from your home and it's one of your favorite places on earth and you were married for (as we've figured out now) many years, you can't tell me you were never there with (at a minimum) your boyfriend/husband. Please.

Me, too. Either that, or Andy was too shocked by her revelation to think straight. Y'know, for a doctor, he doesn't come across as all that bright. Not a good conversationalist, anyway. But back to the subject -- I was surprised he gave Bevan a rose after her telling him about the divorce. It seemed to really bother him. I think he's actually fallen for Tessa.

Glad you mentioned this, it was sort of confusing for me,too. She obviously made it SOUND like she'd gotten married on a whim when she was a "teenager"... But then she's actually married for six years??? WTF is that all about?? She's not an accountant, is she?
