"Can we see the path now?"
Is it pretty obvious now how this will run its course?

4 - Anthony
3 - Vonzell

Final two of Carrie vs. Bo? (with Bo winning of course)

Or does anyone see it otherwise?

Not unless America goes on a crack diet...

I think it's been The Vonzell & Carrie Show since the beginning and everyone else is just filler. Bo is a one trick pony, he's a "Where Are They Now?" or "Behind the Music" episode waiting to happen. His act will get old real quick.

I _strongly_ disagree. I think Vonzell/Carrie are more of a one-trick pony than Bo anyday.

I am predicting NOW, on May 5,2005, at 1:12 pm CST that Bo is the winner of AI4.

There.

I said it.

Wow! You're really going out on a limb there. Truthfully, any one of those three will win it. But I just don't think Bo is better than Vonzell or Carrie. Those two can flat out blow. Bo is a very, very, good entertainer with a decent voice.

Yeah, i'm going out on a limb, but i think its a pretty safe and sturdy limb.

My wife's comments on V has always been "She sounds like any other female pop/R&B singer." and i must agree with her.

Carrie, as has been debated here eternally, is simply boring.

Bo is your winner.

Okay, show me where that's a bad thing. It's not like Rueben or Fantasia were all that unique either, and they won. If I'm gonna take a chance on somebody, I'm gonna go with what works.

I contend that Fantasia was unique. She had a Macy Gray-gravelly-voice vibe that very very few R&B singers have.

Ruben...well, he never impressed me.

The VONZELL Show? If you're talking about the Bottom Three Show, maybe, since that's where she's been most often.

Makes me wonder who's on crack if one can't see that Bo and Carrie have been the favorites from day one.

Uhhh, no. Not with pipes like that she ain't. She's got the look and the vocals. All you gotta do is tweek her image a little here, a little there, and she goes platinum. I know this, and you better damn believe that AI knows this. Whether she wins or not is insignificant at this point. She's gonna get signed regardless.

Then Bo isn't either. Honestly, Vonzell may have a wide vocal range but her singing has always been pitchy and off-key to me. She needs a lot more training. Bo doesn't. He's got the look, vocals, and experience. He may be a rocker but he has a style that appeals to a broad cross-section of the country. He can sing rock, pop, and country. Vonzell is a one-trick pony.

That's what I mean by him being a "lounge act". What is he? Is he rock? Pop? Blues? Show tunes? What?

What's that saying? A man who serves more than one master serves none of them? That's Bo.

I think there was a point where many people considered Constantine and Carrie as favorites to win, since neither had every been in the bottom three.

And then Connie left.

So I don't think the fact that Vonzell's been in the bottom three twice (which is less often than not) is evidence enough to rule her out of the top two.

My prediction is that Vonzell and Bo will be the top two, with Carrie being the surprise third place boot. But Bo will still win.

12. "RE: Can we see the path now? - Final Four across the seasons"
I wonder if this could possibly happen...

4. Carrie (shock!)
3. Anthony (backlash!)
2. Vonzell (outclassed!)
1. Bo (wins)

I mean look at seasons 1 and 3:

Season One + Three parallels
4. .Tamyra. vs. .La Toya. (shock!)
3. .Nikki. vs. .Jasmine. (backlash!)
2. .Justin. vs. .Diana. (outclassed!)
1. .Kelly. vs. .Fantasia. (wins)

Or it could hust be a rehash of season 2's Final Four:

4. Josh Gracin (ho hum)
3. Kim Locke (real close)
2. Clay Aiken (even closer)
1. Ruben (by maybe 0.1%)

I agree I think Bo should and will be the winner. Here are my reasons. I cannot see Vonzell winning because we just had Fantasia last year, their styles maybe too similar. Anthony
is too much of a "Clay" type and at this point nobody seems to be able to catch Clay as far as his success. Carrie as good as she is vocally does center mainly towards "country" which I am not sure "AI" would want to crown a winner. Also, lets face it, I think this competition centers a lot on "stage Presence" which she has 0 of... I think in this competition it means a lot, look at Fantasia?? This is why I see Bo as the winner, he has a good voice and he has great stage presence. Hopefully, the rest of American will see it this way. I do see Carrie probably coming in second and putting out a CD and possibly then making it as big as Clay did, I just don't see her as the "American Idol".

I really like Vonzell, but Fantasia is in a league all her own.
Vonzell does have a lot of stage presence. Even Anthony has more stage presence that Carrie. But Bo still wins on all of it.

Hey Geekboy!!

I totally agree that Anthony is no way near Clay but I think AI has been trying to market him like that and I think his fan base tends to resemble Clay's fan base. However, we have a Clay and we do not need an imitation of him. I think Bo is actually the only type who we have not seen yet and therefore, should win this competition.

16. "RE: Can we see the path now?"
Fantasia and Vonzell's styles are actualy not very similar. Fantasia sings soul/gospel R&B (Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, etc.) and her voice is the perfect match for that style. Vonzell, OTOH is all about R&B-styled pop (more like Christina Aguilera or D-Child) and her voice is best suited for this style as well. But, I suppose to the general viewership, they are similar in style.

Stage presence should be extremely important in this competition. Who the heck would want to go to a concert put on by a robot with a good voice? Certainly not me. Fantasia was the ultimate idol, IMO, because she had absolutely the best stage presence AI has ever seen (save maybe Frenchie) on top of a phenomenal and very distinct voice...and she sang with passion. That's why I like Bo as much as I do. It's obvious that Bo loves what he's doing. He's passionate about music and performing and it shows. I still don't think any of these people are really at Fantasia's level (wish her CD would have done better on the regular charts - her videos are on BET all the time though), but I'm definitely backing Bo at this point, with Vonzell as my second choice (the best stage energy of the bunch). Carrie needs to go away. She can't possibly be taken seriously if she doesn't even take the time to understand what she's singing about (seriously...how can you possibly convey the song to an audience if you don't know what you're singing about?)...and Anthony...well, he's just out of his league.

It *should* be

4. Anthony
3. Carrie - horrendous on stage but has a huge fan base because of her genre
2. Vonzell - great voice (she sounds great on her demo), marketable, and cute/bubbly personality
1. Bo - pretty good voice, extremely good performer, knows what it means to be a good musician in every sense of the word

It *will* be the same but with Carrie and Vonzell switched.

One thing we've seen from seasons past is that the winner had that one indisputable DYNAMITE performance. Fantasia's Summertime, Kelly's Natural Woman, Ruben's that I don't remember (didn't pay attention as much that season).

Have any of these four had that single indisputable DYNAMITE performance yet? I thought Bo's Whippin' Post might be his. Or Stand by Me this week.

Carrie? Alone, maybe?

Of course, if I'm having to ask, they probably haven't...

I beg to differ.

I don't think I've seen a single DYNAMITE performance yet. Bo's come the closest, but certainly nothing that's knocked my socks off. I think the talent is, overall, better than seasons past (averaging out the top 10/12 talent). But I definitely can't say that the best performances of this season have come anywhere close to the best performances of any of the other three seasons.

There hasn't been anything memorable (in a good way) yet in my eyes.

Ruben did "Superstar." It was fantastic.

But non-winners have had those moments too --

Clay's "Solitaire"
LaToya's "All By Myself"
Trenyce's "Let's Stay Together"

Ummmm...I'm sure there's more.

As for Bo --

"Whipping Post" - without a doubt!! Though I also loved "Time in a Bottle" and "Vehicle."

I think the only 'knock-your-socks-off' performances were Anwar's initial two with "Moon River" and "What A Wonderful World"

Those were the best of the season so far, i believe. Its a shame he couldn't keep performances and interpretations like those going.

I'm still patiently waiting each week for Bo to really nail a song and generate a true "WOW" moment.

since this is season four, i have a feeling that the contestants have their 'killer song(s)' waiting in the wings and they should be bringing them out next week if they're smart.

23. "RE: Can we see the path now?"
LAST EDITED ON 05-05-05 AT 03:54 PM (EST)

I think Bo will win. He shows the most talent and is the most consistent.

I also think the judges say very little in giving him their comments because he may be blowing the other contestants away with votes each week--after we had the wake up call the one week he was in the bottom three, that is. If not, they seem hesitant to be critical--his sunglasses was all we have heard as criticism in the past few weeks--so that could mean they do not want to mess with their golden egg star. Carrie, in contrast, has gotten more pointed criticism.

This is also the first season that I like all four of the finalists--Anthony has grown on me over the past couple of weeks even though I do not think he will win.

I think we need to look at the teenage factor--there is a second place pattern over the last three seasons:

Season one:

Kelly
Justin *** (teen pick)
Nikki
Tamyra

Season two:

Ruben
Clay *** (teen pick)
Kim
Josh

Season three:

Fantasia
Diana *** (teen pick-she was a teenager, too)
Jasmine
Latoya

Season four:

Bo
Carrie or Anthony (which is the top teen pick?)
Anthony or Carrie
Vonzel

Will Scott voters support Anthony? Has Carrie pulled in the country faction that took Josh G to fouth place in season two? Is Carrie's support country voters + teenagers?

Nailbone mentioned the key performance factor--wasn't Fantasia's Summertime performance a late in the contest performance? I am looking forward to Bo being able to do the songs he wants to do, not having to fit into the week's theme, to blow us away. At the very least I hope he repeats Whipping Post or a Blood, Sweat and Tears song.

Bo and Carrie in the finals. I diagree with Bo winning, because I think the tween girls and the country fans will vote for Carrie. And I have to agree with Simon, if she wins this, she will be the most successful Idol so far. There are more country7 fans in the country than rock fans. Plus Carrie is more of a safe role model. And she is blond and cute. The home town girl next door. Plus she has never been bottom three or two.

Baby V is gone because I think people are tired of r & b idols.

Once again, Clay Aiken never made it to the Bottom 3 or 2 and still did not win the competition. Carrie has 2 weeks left to make it into this place. Fantasia went to the Bottom 3 what 3 times last year if I am not mistaken. I do not think that matters at all

I hope Vonzell wins but I think it will Bo. Bo has a unique style and he has talent. Carrie is too stiff and I'm surprised she's lasted this long. Anthony is hanging on by a weak string. If not for Scott's arrogance last week, Anthony might have been the one to leave this week.

And even though Fantasia and Vonzell are both R&B singers they are very different R&B singers. Fantasia has a very gospel/soul style (as someone mentioned already) and Vonzell is more pop. They are like Patti Labelle and Whitney Houston (pre-Bobby Brown). BOth are fantastic performers but each has a different style.

I actually love Fantasia and I think she gave perfect performances everynight she performed. There were no mistakes. Ruben was the same way. I don't recall either one of them having an off night during their competitions.

Hmmmm...what I wish for:

4. Carrie
3. Anthony
2. Vonzell
1. Bo

Someone above noted that in seasons 1&3 there was a shock vote at 4th place - Tamyra & LaToya. If that happens, it may be Carrie or Vonzell going next.

Of course, Vonzell has been near the bottom a few times, and Carrie not at all...BUT...

Just as I figured Constantine's votes were going to split between two people (Anthony & Bo - not that we'll ever know for sure), I think Scott's votes will go to one of 2 places:

Scott was an R&B singer -- his R&B votes will go to Vonzell
Scott was an underdog -- his underdog votes will go to Anthony

If this happens, it could prop those two up & boot Carrie earlier than expected.

In the 4-year history of Idol, out of the 46 finalists, only four contestants have ever made the final 4 without ever being in the bottom 2 or bottom 3. That elite group includes only Tamyra, Kelly, Clay and... Carrie Underwood.

Granted, Tamyra was booted at 4. Yes, that was shocking. But nothing that shocking has ever happened again, despite Fox's attempts to sell every boot as a 'surprise' boot. The other people booted in 4th place, Josh and LaToya, had both been in the bottom more than once before... and so their boots were no shock.

NONE of the final 3 boots have been AT ALL shocking. Nikki, Jasmine, and Kimmel were all frequent bottom dwellers, and all three were considered 'obvious' boots.

Carrie's not going anywhere. She's a lock on final 2.

This season has been pretty dull b/c Carrie has been a lock to get to the final two ever since the final 12 were announced. I thought it was going to be between either her and Constantine or Bo.

She was proclaimed as the golden girl by Simon and can do no wrong to her fans. She kicks down a microphone and everyone raves at how much personality she showed on stage.

Can she sing? Yes. Is she head and shoulders above the competition? No. She shows zero personality on stage. Bo is a MUCH better performer than Carrie.

42. "Carrie will win"
Final 2: Carrie vs. Bo, an inevitable conclusion once Constantine was eliminated.

I have always believed Carrie was headed for the final two. And I'm willing to follow geekboy into the trees to say she is going to win.

She fits the audience demographic, appeals to a larger genre and, based on previous voting, she has a very strong fan base. Remember that Carrie has been among the top vote getters even when her performances were weak. Even when they were worse than weak. She is the classic Red State American Idol. A cute, clean, country Daughter of the American Heartland.

This competition, when you break it down, is Amateur Hour. America will select someone they want to see win the whole thing. A Moment Like This, and all that. She's not perfect, she's normal. She's a sister/daughter/pal/girlfriend. Carrie represents hope and promise, and that's the essence of this entire show.

Harold Bice Junior, despite some good performances, does not measure up. He is clearly a professional musician whose lack of charisma has failed to win him a large audience despite 10 years of trying.

A Rocker? Bah! Can you see Mick Jagger entering a contest this cheesy? Bo is a talented but ultimately sad wannabe whose career was being played out in smoky barrooms. Why should he win America's Talent Lottery, when he failed to make anything of himself or his band? I say he's an unfortunate consequence of the new age limits. He really doesn't even belong here.

I think Bo proves they ought to lower the age limit to 24, and allow American Idol to find more unpolished diamonds. I'd rather see them unearth uncut gems than strive to identify the mediocre but highly polished cubic zirconium he represents.

That said, I'm not buying any records. They're all dismal.
I only watch so I know who to hate the next day.

Agree 100% with your thoughts about Carrie. I'll join you on the limb, I think she's bulletproof.

Disagree almost 100% with your thoughts about Bo. I'm kinda with you in that a true "rocker", in the pure punk/rebel/f-the-establishment sense, would never have anything to do with a show like this. But I don't think Bo ever classfied himself as that...he was given that label by the judges because he had long hair. Bo is pop/rock and for that reason he belongs here. So what if his band hasn't made it yet. He sings and performs circles around almost everyone else up there.

And I think Bo proves that raising the age limits was a good idea. I don't want to see a contest full of Anthony's and Mikala's who don't have the experience or maturity to know how to be interesting. The older contestants were the only ones worth watching this year, IMHO.

Bo is the kind of entertainer that will always have a loyal following but will never achieve any sort of mass (read: commercial) appeal.

Hi Captain_Savem, it's not that I'm caught up in his spell, it's just that I'd like to see a different type of performer win this thing. I don't think Bo's going to win. I think Carrie will win, but it'll be close.

i really, really, reeeaaly want bo to win, but... i think america's on carrie's side.
i mean i hope im wrong, but instinct tells me that in the end she's gonna get those votes.
either anthony or vonzell are leaving next (my prediction- anthony) and their fans fall into the whole r&b/pop genre, which is closer to carrie than it is to bo.
and then there's the whole simon prediction thing.
i mean even though people say they hate simon, he's always spot on with his comments.
i dont really like carrie that much, i mean she's had some pretty horrible performances, and has never been in the bottom 3, so obviously america loves her.
as for bo
*sigh*
hes just amazing
and no he is not a fake rocker
rock has soooo many different variations to it
there's soft rock, hard rock, pop rock, metal rock i mean the list is really long.
and if i remember correctly, bo didnt come to american idol like because he was trying to kick start his career or whatever
it was a bet or something he made with his mom.
it would be really awesome if he did win...
he has MY vote!
- nicky
