"Agree" LAST EDITED ON 05-05-04 AT 08:23 PM (EST) These days, the Ohio State Fair mostly features country acts -- the "big three" this year are Brooks & Dunn and Travis Tritt along with Clay -- but it's always tried to have "wholesome" pop acts, ranging from the James Gang (yes, Joe Walsh was once wholesome ) to David Cassidy and the Osmond Brothers in the early 1970s. State fairs are a perfect venue for someone who has a mass audience appeal, because LOTS of people can see you, even at the $25 charge for Clay's tickets in Ohio (less than Brooks & Dunn, but more than Travis Tritt).   Top

It is right in the midst of Pennsylvania farm country and within easy driving distance of two gigantic forests in the state (one a national forest and the other a state forest, both big-time tourist attractions at that time of year). In addition, Clearfield is less than an hour from State College, PA, better known as Happy Valley, home of the main campus of the largest state related university in PA, my employer-from-a-distance, and den of the famed Nittany Lion.   Top

"RE: Clay Aiken Says Goodbye Kelly, Announces Solo Tour" Just to clarify something: Clay was going to tour solo in the beginning, and Ms Clarkson heard about it and asked to be included. They said that much on Entertainment Tonight. It was only a what, 40 or 50 city show, and it only makes sense that he will now go on his own. The state fairs may not be the biggest venues, but when you consider that Tim McGraw played the Erie County Fair less than 10 years ago, and Travis Tritt played the much smaller Chautauqua County Fair just a few years ago (both in NY), it isn't such small change, either. Clay has a following. People LOVE his voice, girls love him, and he probably should have been the idol last year, which puts him in the underdog position that so many people love as well. He's a good guy with a good upbringing and a good outlook. He happens to be a bit of a geek, but look at how far he's come. Who is there is this year's contest that will be able to do this? George is a lot like Clay, but will he have the following? LaToya has the voice, but does she have the personality? Just questions to ponder when those who would slam Clay start spouting. (We gotta b*tch or we'll explode!)   Top
