LAST EDITED ON 04-22-04 AT 12:03 PM (EST)Please go to www.idolonfox.com and sign the petition(s) to save Jennifer Hudson. It's clear that almost everyone feels something is fishy about the voting. For those of you who don't know, there were tornadoes in Illinois (Jennifer's homestate) that prevented at least 20,000 households from voting for their hometown favorite. She was the TOP vote-getter the previous week, so one can only assume this had something to do with her fall this week. PLEASE GO SIGN THE PETITION IMMEDIATELY! Many thanks.

Go to www.idolonfox.comClick "Community" Link. You will see a number of post subjects on the left side of your screen. When you click on any one of them you will be sent to the message boards. There are a number of subject lines, but at least three of them are petitions for Jennifer. I agree that the likelihood is slim, but then again, so many people are boycotting the show, that it would be in AI's best interest to bring her back. Even if the tornadoes are just a good excuse, it would be a smart move for Fox to save the show. Thanks for your help!

I know it's not likely, but if there's any reality show that does whatever it wants, it's AI. I wouldn't be surprised if they looked at this controversy (and that nasty weather situation) as an opportunity to extend the season one extra week. You just never know.

Sansy...You have gotta be kidding... Race as an issue? Maybe you didnt notice, but 50% of the votes last year went to Rueben -- and im sure all his votes were not all from voters of African heritage... Is it possible -- just possible -- that the voting public is tired of divas and wants to hear something else? As for the tornaodes in IL -- well, cant argue that could cause some problems. Perhaps all the voting in Chicago didnt register... Who knows... What I do know is this -- IF they can sell more COKE and FORDs - then for sure they will bring her back. In the end, its not about race, its not about talent, its not about records, its not about image... It is about how much soap they can sell. Archon Cynical? Sure -- but that doesn't mean I'm wrong...

Thanks Archon, you always say things correctly. I am not African American and I voted for George... Why is it all of a sudden because the 3 Divas were broken up that its an issue of race.??? Also, tornadoes in Chicago or Illinois, I would say at this point those people who were hit by the damage or not thinking that Oh I did not get to cast my vote for Jennifer. What is happening to everyone with this?? she got voted out and its a game and America chooses. You cannot have a complete winner if they were splitting votes 3 ways and I say that is what happened. I bet if any of the other 4 had been voted out, would all of this been transpiring today???? No. Had George gone, would the race card been thrown up, No. Its time to move on.....

Thank you so much for the point you made in your post...one I believe may be true:Maybe people were getting tired of the whole diva thing and wanted to hear something else....I know that even though I think all 3 are good singers, I kind of tired of hearing about them constantly as if there is nobody else competing...not to mention the fact that there is nothing really different about them...nothing you can't hear on the radio now....though they are talented... I believe that I had read that someone from AI, maybe it was Randy, even said even without the power outage, that would not have been enough votes to save her.... I know it is sad when your favorite is voted off, however, I think it is unfair to make up a dozen excuses as to why it happened, that there must have been a reason besides maybe PEOPLE WHO VOTED DIDN'T WANNA VOTE FOR HER....maybe the votes split between the 3, maybe people were tiring of her...who knows, she didn't get enough votes, bottom line....=) Just use it as a lesson that if you have a favorite, VOTE for them....and also, it seems that some people vote for 2 or 3 different people the same week, I personally think this is a waste....pick one and vote for them and I think you will accomplish more with your voting....

The fact that you suggest race has something to do with last night's outcome is insulting. Only ultra-white John Stevens is the only white person in the competition anymore. Irresponsible and precipitous remarks like yours do nothing but insult and belittle so much of the civil rights movement.

Hi all, I tried to go to the website you posted to sign the petition, and it comes up as not being a valid webpage....I watched Idol night before last, and I voted for Jennifer. I had not particularly liked Jennifer at the beginning, and my favorites have been Fantasia and George, but Jennifer's performance the other night was her best, and definitely one of the best that night. I was shocked to see this morning that she had been kicked off.....my first thought was that there must have been a mix up in the tallying or something. Something isn't right, that's for sure. John has a unique voice, but he just doesn't have the talent and stage presence that Jennifer and some of the others have. I just knew that it was going to be John that was kicked off thise week, but when I saw on the news this morning that Fantasia and Jennifer were both standing there....I was not only shocked, I felt that AI was trying to pull some sort of publicity stunt to just anger people and get some attention on the show.... Jennifer is talented, she has had probably the most dramatic makeover and postive changes of any of them....she certainly doesn't deserve this! Niser

First I'll start by saying that all of the fans of Jennifer's comments have been well said. Second, all of the judges, Barry, Quentin, Elton, Ryan and Clay all love her and her voice, so if I have to agree with America or them, I choose them. America loves Britney Spears.. enough said. Third, Jennifer's name is all over the place right now because people are outraged. Will this get her back on the show? Probably not but it is going to give her more publicity, and she will get a record contract and she will be a big star, and that is more important than winning on "American Idol", just ask Clay. If Jasmine, John or Diana win, it will be the end of the show. They will never sell enough records to justify their win. This may be just my opinion, but let's see if I'm right, only time will tell. I thought about giving up on the show, because I watch it to hear talent, not teenagers who can't sing. I thought about it and I will watch it and all of my votes and my friends votes have just transfered to Latoya and Fantasia (and I'd bet that most of Jenn's fans will do the same.)I'd also like to say that the nasty, petty, conceited look on Jasmine's face was enough to make me sick.

Hear, hear! Well said, SheDevil.I missed Jasmine's face, but Diana's, John's, and George's were beyond stunned. It looked like John said, "It should have been me." Jennifer, class all the way, nodded her head, "No." What's this I hear that George and Jennifer are very close? Rumor has it that La Toya and Fantasia didn't get along with Jennifer. So what was that huge hug from F. all about? Let bygones be bygones since you're out of here, or thank goodness it wasn't me? If I were a kind person, trying to see the best in everyone, I might add a third possibility: F. genuinely felt sorry for J. Which is it?

Look, Jennifer is OUT. No ifs ands or buts about it and nothing is going to bring her back.Did she deserve to be out? No way, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Look what happened last year, where the horrific Josh Grayson made it to the final four and that blonde Mormon chick who sung like a goat made it further than others who were more talented. AI sucks in that way. I was shocked that she was voted out over the three obvious lesser talents of Jasmine, Diana and John, but I was more shocked that the three best singers in the show were all in the bottom three. I think what happened is pretty apparent: the black diva gal vote was split up, probably a lot of the three gals' fans didn't vote for them as much this week, assuming they were all safe, and the other three now have a defined following (Jasmine -- the entire state of Hawaii, John -- every high school girl and their grandmothers and all of Jon's leftover voters, and Diana --- all the remaining teenagers who can't stand John's singing.) Remember when Rueben was in the bottom three one week last year??? Everyone assumed he was always "safe" and didn't need votes. Last night was a wake up call, unfortunately to the detriment of poor Jen. I'd be very surprised if either Fantasia or LaToya is in the bottom group again. But you can bet that Jen is not coming back.

Isnt it the idea that the person AMERICA wants, should be the next Idol. So therefore, losing out votes in her hometown should not be enough to warrant her coming back if the rest of America could care less. If Jon Stevens, Jasmine and Jennifer were in the bottom three and Jennifer was voted out, then I may say something was weird, but since all 3 "Divas" were in the bottom three, I think that was America saying quite loudly that they are tired of the sound and the yeah yeah yeahs (granted Jennifer doesnt do that, but you get the point).I dont think they should bring her back. And honestly, if she is good enough, she will get a record deal on her own like so many others have gone on to do. It isnt a death sentence for her.

A good snippet from foxnews.com......""This just in: Contestant Jennifer Hudson ( search) was not robbed when she was voted off "American Idol." There was no conspiracy or racial discrimination. There was no malfunction in the voting system or hanging chads. When a group of people are spread out over the same demographic (e.g. African-American Teenagers), voting for three people who fit in their demographic, logically the three will split the vote. That should explain why three of the best singers on the show found themselves at the bottom of the vote count last week. OK. Enough with the conspiracy theories. But while I'm on the subject of "American Idol," people in the media — like Regis Philbin fill-in George Lopez this week — should stop calling for the head of contestant John Stevens. The kid is 16 years old, and he's doing the best he can. When America tires of him, they'll vote him off... just like when we tire of George Lopez' show on ABC and he gets the boot (hey George, what's good for the gander...). ""

I couldn't agree more about your George Lopez comment. Doesn't ANYONE think about this 16-year old kid's feelings in the media? John knew what he was getting into when he signed up, and if he didn't then it's still his fault for not researching what goes on with "American Idol". What about the other finalist's feelings? If John's feelings getting hurt are a problem then it just proves a 16 year old shouldn't be allowed in the competition.

My point is that the attacks are personal against this kid -- as if he were personally voting off the competitors. There's a line between critiquing one's performance and attacking individuals on a personal level. I did not watch season 1, but I know I don't remember any attacks on individuals in season 2. And while being a performer means having to learn to take criticism, I don't think that relieves anyone of the responsiblity of treating people with respect. George Lopez, as an actor, should have shown more professionalism. The tabloid shows which insist on showing John's face when they talk about Jennifer's vote are being irresponsible. Elton John definitely should have shown more professionalism in his recent comments. And as for preparing himself for the attention - negative & positive - that's a bit like telling someone to prepare for this not to hurt, before you hit their hand with a hammer. Thinking you are prepared for an emotional experience doesn't change the outcome.

I did go to the website, but didn't find a petition. I would have signed it.Jennifer wasn't my favorite, however she's much better than John, Diana, and Jasmine, and I'm sure America knows it which is why the votes were tainted. Jennifer will be fine, she will have a contract and she will be heard everywhere. Some of America has a way of covering up their evil. It's OK as long as the rest of us know the truth and deal with it accordingly. Simply put, Simply me.
