Green Meadow Ranch, final Pit Stop. Bransen and Linz shown eating together, Weavers are eating separately.Departure times --
Bransen: 3:04 am.
Linz: 3:08 am
Weaver: 4:02 am Clue: fly 1700 miles to Montreal, Canada. They have been provided tickets but can find other flights if they wish. When they land travel by taxi to Metropolitan train station and enter the Underground City. Once there, they must search the tunnels for the passageway for to the basement of the CDP capital building. They will find the clue in that passageway. Bransen arrive at airport and stop at a pay phone to check flights. They find a faster flight through Minneapolis. Linz arrive at airport, also check flights but find no faster flights through Billings. Weaver arrives airport and go to Northwest desk to check in. All three flights are on same Northwest flight to Minneapolis. Bransen sneak off to change their connecting flight. They will arrive 4:58 pm. Linz find a flight through Montreal through Toronto that arrives at 4:10pm. Weaver at Northwest desk are told they have the fastest flight to Montreal. Linz and Weaver depart to Toronto, they are racing each other through the airport. And Rolly and Alex collide. Looked like Alex fell and Rolly fell over him. Alex is trying to help Rolly stand up and Ma Weaver tells him not to touch him.

Toronto airport – Alex says it felt like Rolly grabbed his backpack. Ma Weaver goes to a airport person and asks for special help getting their tickets. They get tickets for a 3:00 pm flight to Montreal. Ma Weaver hopes there are no more seats available. Linz are at counter and obtain tickets on 3pm flight.Linz and Weaver on Air Canada flight, scheduled to arrive at 4:10 pm. The Northwest flight with Bransen scheduled to arrive 5:00 pm. Once they arrive in Montreal teams must travel by taxi to the train station and enter Underground City, search the maze of tunnels for passageway to the basement of CDP building. The clue will be found in the passageway. Air Canada flight arrives on time. Weavers find a taxi. Linz looking for shuttle or train, then re-read clue that tells them to find a taxi. Rolly tells the taxi driver to drive ‘rapido’. The Weavers are giving their driver directions. Linz promise their taxi driver ‘big money’ to drive faster. The Northwest flight with Bransen is running 25 minutes late. The Weavers get out of their taxi at Victoria Station and ask their taxi driver to wait for them. He promises if they will come back. Weavers are finding their way through the tunnels and find the clue. Detour: ‘Slide It’ or “Roll It’. In ‘Slide It’, travel 22 miles to McGill Arena and engage in curling. Each team member must glide stone 120 feet down the ice. Once team member gets a stone into the house or touches the house for a total of 4 will receive their clue. ‘Roll It’, teams travel 23 miles to Morgan Arboretum, use traditional lumberjack tools to roll 4 logs along 100 foot course. Once complete, a lumberjack will give them the next clue. Weavers will do ‘Slide It’, depart station and find their taxi driver who knows where the rink is. Linz arrive at train station and begin searching tunnels. They appear to run past the clue box. Bransen arrive airport at 5:25 pm. Weaver arrive at an arena, but the doors are chained. Linz are hopelessly lost in tunnels.

Weaver taxi driver calling information to find arena, it’s in another area. Linz stop and ask directions and a local tells their taxi driver how to get there. Weaver taxi driver telling them how to curl. Weavers arrive at arena.Weavers begin curling. Linz arrive arena and ask driver to wait. They also arrive at wrong arena. Bransen arrive at Victoria station and begin searching tunnels for clue box. They also run past clue box. Weavers get their first stone. Linz talk to another local for directions to the correct ice rink. Bransen find the clue box. They decide to do logs, ‘Roll It’. Weavers finish their second stone, finish their third stone. Weavers complete their Detour and receive next clue. Clue: Teams travel 26 miles and find American Pavilion at Montreal World Expo site. Once their, climb exterior staircase to 5th floor and retrieve next clue. Weaver taxi driver calling for directions. Linz arrive at McGill arena. Linz get first stone. Bransen arrive at Arboretum. The lumberjacks do one to show them how it’s done. Linz have second stone, third stone. Bransen have first of 4 logs complete. Weavers are within sight of American Pavilion. Linz complete their 4th stone and receive clue. The Weavers found a driver who prays as much as they do. Weavers are at Expo but cannot find an entrance, finally find stairs and clue box. Clue: travel 6 miles to industrial park and find La Porte J. Once they find the correct door, they will find their next clue. Linz are driving toward Expo. Bransen working on their logs.

Bransens complete 2nd log. Weavers thanking G-d for sending them their driver, Ted. Linz ask for directions to American Pavilion. Bransen complete 3rd log, 4th log and receive clue. (The girls were actually pretty impressive, if you can trust the editing.) Weaver find industrial park and Door J and clue box. Ted the driver thanks G-d for leading him to the correct address.Roadblock: one person must learn and successfully complete a ‘catch’ on the flying trapeze. Once they’ve been caught they will receive clue. Rolly elects to do it for Weaver. Linz arrive at Pavilion and find clue box. Their driver says they know where Dickson Street is. Bransen arrive at Expo site. Rolly on trapeze, completes his catch and receives clue. Clue: travel 2 miles to Parc Olympique, where Montreal hosted 1976 Olympic games. Here, teams use golf cars to search for arena, look for one door they can drive through, clue will be at center field. Linz arrive at industrial park and find clue box. One of the Linz boys (still can’t tell them apart), Alex I think, will do it. Megan wanted to. Typical sibling teasing as they call Alex ‘fatso’. Bransen arrive American Pavilion and find clue box. Weavers arrive Parc Olympique, board their golf cart and start searching for entrance. Alex hasn’t yet been able to complete his catch. Fails on 2 tries. Bransen find industrial park and clue box. They catch up with Linz.

Did you happen to notice that middle aged woman, two out of condition girls and a young boy, who are up against 4 healthy young adults were able to keep ahead for most of the race. Mostly thanks to young Rolle who carried his family on his young shoulders.

Alex still trying to complete the catch. Finally successful and receives clue. Bransen ask if they’ve seen the Weavers. Linz race off to Parc Olympique, they remember where it is. Weavers still driving around on golf cart searching for entrance. Linz ask for directions to stadium entrance. Beth Bransen doing catch, does so on first try, apparently she participated in gymnastics in high school. Bransen got in and out pretty quick.Weavers are reenacting the golf cart scene from ‘Austin Powers’. Linz arrive Parc and see Bransen arrive. Linz on golf cart and driving. Wally sprained his toe running for golf cart, Bransen following Linz. Weavers finally find entrance to stadium and find clue box. Clue: search 56,000 seat stadium for one of three charter flight departure times leaving the next morning for a mystery destination. They do not have to keep the first time they find, but once they choose a time they must keep it. Linz and Bransen find entrance and clue box quickly. Weavers are upset the other teams have arrived. Weavers think ‘it’s unfair’ (not clear whether the task is unfair or the fact the other teams arrived). Wally’s toe is hurting him. Weavers are worried about their taxi driver, especially at $40/hour, so they leave the stadium to pay him. Linz and Bransen decide to do same. Weavers and Linz have altercation on the sidewalk. Weavers searching stadium. Megan Linz tells Bransen they are working together, it’s all good as long as Weavers don’t win. Bransen divide a section, alternate aisles, one look left or right. Linz go into the nosebleed seats to search for a clue. Weavers are sitting and resting and watching the other teams search. Linz found a clue, 5:50 AM. They decide to take that clue. Rolly trying to get his family to search for the clue and not just sit. Bransen found a clue, 5:45 AM departure time. Weavers still standing on arena floor, Ma Weaver actually sleeping on a cot. It appears the teams are sleeping in the arena overnight. The Weavers continue to talk about how stupid the task is, Rolly upset they aren’t searching.

Probably because he was exhausted, having carried his family all over the continent for weeks. When I saw his stupid sister riding on his back, I knew he couldn't go much longer. He probably felt that finding the clue was something that his siblings could do and when he saw they had given up he knew it was over. A credit to the family is that they stayed in and finished the race. Their comments and religion have nothing to do with their courage. Ed

Rolly trying to convince his team to go back and look for clue, Ma Weaver finally agrees. (I will be really p*ssed if they find an earlier flight.) They find departure time, 5:55 AM (thank you g-d). They decide to leave stadium to get to the airport early. Bransen depart for Hubert airport. Linz depart for airport. Weaver arrive at airport and check in, they ask and find out the other flights depart before their flight. Rolly does not look happy. Bransen and Linz arrive at airport. The teams are all in the waiting area, and Bransens depart on charter flight. Linz depart. They still don’t know where they are going. Weaver depart, say they can come back from this, Rolly lagging behind and looks upset.When they arrive at mystery destination teams will find next clue on marked vehicles. They arrive back in Toronto. Bransen find vehicle. Clue: drive themselves and travel 1 miles to CN Tower. Here they take elevator to uppermost observation deck, use binoculars and scan the city for location of their next clue. Linz arrive, Weaver plane lands right behind them (must have caught a tail wind). Linz read clue and one of the boys know where they need to go. Weaver stop and ask directions, and ask if they can have the store owner’s map since it’s ripped and they have no moey. Bransen arrive at CN Tower and board elevator. Linz arrive at tower. Bransen arrive at observation deck and start looking for flag and clue box. There is one set of binoculars per team. Linz arrive at observation deck. Weavers arrive at tower and board elevator. Weavers are on deck. Bransen find the clue box. Linz have it also. Linz depart observation deck before the Bransens. Both teams are on elevator together. Rolly searching the city and Ma Weaver praying.

In ‘Ship’, sail across Toronto harbor to the boat Kajama, one team member climbs to top of mast to retrieve flag and then clue. In ‘Shoe’, search for Bata Shoe Museum, choose one pair of shoes then search among 100 women for woman who fits the pair of shoe they have chosen. Linz choose ‘Ship’. Weavers catch up with Bransen. Bransen decide to do ‘Shoe’. Weaver will do ‘Ship’. Linz arrive at QueensQuay and find captain. The captain gives the Linz rules of sailing. Bransen ask a biker for directions to Shoe Museum. Weaver arrive at harbor. Linz and Weaver in the water sailing to the ship. Bransen arrive at shoe museum and choose a pair that are easy to try on. They begin asking women to try on the shoe. Linz arrive at Kajama. ‘Bone’ is climbing the mast and captures the flag. They receive their clue. Clue: drive 81 miles to Queenston, on Canadian side of Niagra Falls. Find boat ramp, choose a jet boat and ride up the gorge into Niagra whirlpool. Once there, grab clue from the marked buoy. Bransen still trying on shoes. Wally is discouraged.

Bransens at the Shoe Museum. They find the correct woman and receive their clue. Lauren is the shoe shopper in the family and her experience paid off. Linz and Bransen on their way to Queenston. Rolly Weaver on his way up the mast. He captures the flag but dropped it on his way down. It lands on the deck, they receive their clue, and ask directions.Linz are in the lead, Bransen behind them. Bransen hope the Weavers don’t win, they just wouldn’t be right. Ma Weaver almost takes the wrong highway ramp. Linz ask directions from a runner, he says ‘I just told your friends’. Linz first to boat ramp. They take all their gear and select a boat. Bransen arrive at boat dock and get on the boat. The teams are approaching the rapids. Linz are having a great time. Bransen, can’t tell if they’re having fun or not. Linz capture clue. Clue: have your captain take you across the border to your final destination city, Lewiston NY. Once you dock search the park for your next clue. They depart as Bransen enter the whirlpool. Bransen (in 2nd place) retrieve clue. Weavers arrive at boat ramp. Bransen boat close behind Linz. Linz arrive at boat dock and retrieve clue. Roadblock: one person uses 71 jigsaw pieces to complete map of Central and Northern America. Once Roadblock is completed, make their way to finish line. Linz arrive first and in the lead. Wally working on puzzle for Bransen, Nick for Linz. Nick apparently not sure where Oklahoma goes, he finally figures it out. Weavers are in the whirlpool, Rolly retrieves the clue. Wally is ahead on his puzzle, although it looks close. Wally has a big lead. Nick finds several quickly. (Hey, you try to make this sound exciting.) Wally is way ahead. It’s really close how, Nick only has a few, one falls out. Nick finishes first. Wally has one small state. Linz start racing for the mat. And the winner of theh first ever TAR FAMILY EDITION is ----- LINZ !!!!!

Quickly the rest of the Linz family clue him in by saying "I can't believe he doesn't know where Oklahoma goes." (paraphase) And he than quickly found the right spot. So it was a complete team effort when the rules forbid it. ANOTHER TOTALLY DISGUSTING FINISH. THE BRANSENS GOT SCREWED!

I thought it was "I can't believe he doesn't know where Oklahoma goes." Which, if he heard it, and if he didn't even recognize it as OK, could maybe have given him a bit of help. Maybe. It was a nice close finish, but the finsih wasn't so close that I think it really made any difference if it did help him.

IMHO, the puzzle was less about knowing this shape was which state, than it was about fitting the pieces in the correct places. Granted, knowing which shape was which state (jeez, try saying that three times fast) would help in placement, but ultimately it was about fitting the pieces in the correct place.

Agree, the Linzes developed into a good race team somewhere along the way, played to their strengths whenever they could, maybe even learned a thing or two. I was glad to see the Bransens finally pull it together, they gave those kids a run for the money and made it close. Great finish to a somewhat mediocre edition of TAR.

The last leg involved sailing, climbing, and lots of running.” The Linzes found the flag the about the same time as the Bransons; hence the shared elevator, and were able to drive (not run) to the next clue box faster than the Bransons. The sailing was not physical other than climbing the rigging on the tri-mast. No advantage to the Linzes there because the Bransons chose to do the shoe thing (which they did pretty well) and the Weavers were already behind due to there map stop (remember they were ahead of the Linzes at this point) and had Rolly do the physical part on the tri-mast. None of the running done really mattered, since the Linzes came out of the puzzle far enough ahead that the (run) to the mat didn’t decide the race.
And as I and others said before, the previous eliminations were due to primarily to mental errors, not sprints to the finish and brute strength. So, my logic is NOT flawed and the force is with me. .

Searching for things is actually best done by younger eyes. Advantage Linz, but the Bransens kept up.Climbing the rigging is obviously physical. Advantage Linz. Sailing is a physical activity requiring hand/eye coordination, strength and good reactive time. Advantage Linz The Linz reached the map ahead of team Bransen. It was irrelevant. The producers might have given us a real race, instead of something stacked so heavily in the Linz' favour that any other outcome was all but impossible.

Congratulations to the Linz family for winning the Amazing Race, and congratulations to the Bransen family for not only finishing second, but winning the GMC Yukon in the mini-race. Both teams showed class and dignity on the mat, and throughout the entire race. I'm just glad the Weaser family fell flat at the end, and during the mini-race.
