My six-year-old has announced, much to my chagrin, that she is solidly behind John Kerry. She informed me that Kerry wants to make more jobs here and if Bush is re-elected that my job will go to another country (perhaps, I'll be a French social worker). I told her that Kerry was lying about that, but she simply replied, "No, Bush is just telling you lies about Kerry!" I said, "What about the higher taxes?" She quipped back, "You can just get a couple more jobs, 'cause Kerry is going to make more."
What am I to do? I blame the public schools or her mother . . .

Sorry, I have been reading Ann Coulter's book, Treason. She alledges that FDR and Truman led to the Cold War by actively harboring Soviet spies in the highest echelons of govt. It was not until Ronald Reagan's stance of strength that we were able to trounce Communism. Well, it is one view of history, anyway.

And while I had a lot of respect for Gore's commitment to public service, I wasn't 'feeling him', if you know what I mean. Remember we had a Republican congress, and the big guy at the top stuck his finger in the air. Yeah, I do. I also remember that Clinton championed all of them before he signed them. Which is pretty reprehensible on a lot of levels.  Fester <-- feeling betrayed by his 'party' since 1993.

the argument is not against taxes per se, but against high taxes and the method used to collect taxes- payroll witholdingsome feel that we are lulled into a false sense of complacency due to witholding if we got one tax bill on April 15 for the whole year- people would be squawking about taxes- so the argument goes

Don't be silly - his "who's the best kid" ratings fluctuate dramatically based on things like: choice of spouse, career, major, political party, wardrobe and hair decisions, child-rearing, lawn care, cooking, floorcovering, grill operations, car interior upkeep, etc.We all get our time in the dungeon and on the pedastal.
