"TAR Family Travel Companion notices errors"
Since the beginning of this season, I have been following along the USA routes using a Rand McNally Road Atlas. This has been a lot of fun for me and the family, as we pause the DVR when we hear Phil say "Teams must now drive themselves to...". The James family opens the atlas and tries to determine the best route.

With that said, I think that whoever is doing the graphics and voiceover copy for Phil has had problems in Utah.

In the previous episode, the teams were told to travel 20 miles from the Green River State Park to Heber City, UT. My trusty TAR home game (aka the atlas) showed that it was at least 200 miles for Heber City.

Then last night took the cake. When the teams opened the clue at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Phil's voice over said that they had to drive 400 miles to Garden City, UT. The accompanying graphic showed the route to take them directly east to a spot between Salt Lake City and Provo. When I finally found Bear Lake and Garden City on the atlas, I found it in the northeast corner of Utah, maybe 225 miles from the previous location.

Maybe I am being picky, but why give wrong information? Drop the graphic, and don't give Phil the distance.

Easy, the same people who selected these families that even this far into the race still can't read maps properly are the same people working in HR and hire the shows local 'expert' crew.

Considering some of the players don't know thier cities from thier states, go 180 degrees in the wrong direction, and can mess up on the Great Lakes - what do you expect the crew to be like? After-all they are all from the same country.

PS. As a Canadain I always thought the jokes about how lost some Americans were was just a national pride type of joke. The horror of how bad the really bad are is painful. Just so you Americans feel better, a few years ago I meet a man in his seventies who claimed to never have left the town/city of Oshawa Ontario Canada. And he was a GM worker too, so it was not a lack of money. Please note, Oshawa is no New York. For most of the time he had lived there it's population would have been below 75,000. This is a town where pre-teens regularly take the bus/train into Toronto. And he had never left to see any other part of the Country, Province, Region, the town next door (3 miles max.) Whitby! I would not count on him knowing any of the Great Lakes.

Conspiracy theory: Maybe the episode order on TV is not the actual order of the race! It could explain the milage errors as well as the unseen "production-crew errors" that caused the Linz crew to fall from 1st to 4th.
