In the end, it was fixed. CBS knew that they had to get at least two couples on that flight from San Juan to Miami so they pulled some major strings to make that happen. The result was Rob/Amber got screwed out of $million. I'm an American Airlines pilot and I've flown the Carribbean for over 15 years, including that SJU-MIA flight and I know it would take extraordinary measures to get that flight to let another few passengers on once the flight was 'closed'. I doubt that the airport manager could even get Uchenna/Joyce on that flight. I expect that CBS has to call corporate headquarters in DFW to get the intervention. As I said, the fix was in!

I agree 100%. As soon as Uchena and Joyce missed the flight I thought, CBS has got nothing to show us for the final 25 minutes, the show is over. When they re-opened the flight, I was pretty sure CBS had a hand in it. American Airlines is also one of the major sponsors. This was an obvious case of the producers interfering but I'm sure there were other more subtle interferences during the race.
I kind of thought it was sweet justice after all the luck Rob and Amber had throughout the race.
