American Idol 2 PTTEYou friendly neighborhood Spidey, in collaboration with the stud we know as SurvivorScott, is proud to announce the opening of the AI2 PTTE. Hope you are as excited as we are to test our predictive skill vis a vis the fickle American public and the quest for the ONE, she with the X-factor, he of the whole package. Hopefully, it will be someone who can actually sing too. PTTE? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? PTTE = Picks To The End We want to see how well we can do at pre-determining, before a single note is sung in the round of the Final 12, the order in which the American public crushes these poor saps’ dreams. HOW DOES IT WORK? Put the American Idol Top 12 (how stoopid does Top 12 sound anyway?), in order from FIRST eliminated to the American Idol winner(s). For example, if you think Carmen will be first eliminated (and who doesn’t), and Clay will be the last one standing, your PTTE would look like this: 12. Carmen

9. Kim L.

1. Clay = The American Idol! SCORING: Low score wins. YOU DON'T WANT POINTS!!! You will, however, receive them. You get points based on the difference between when you say these crooners will go, and when they actually do go. Again, an example: If you had Julia going out at #7, and she really goes #11, you get 4 points. If you had her at #7 and she goes at #6, you get one point. Got it? Good. But what if multiple people are eliminated in one night, as is likely in the first rounds?
Good point. If you have Kim C. and Ruben going 12 and 11, and they both go the first night, obviously no points for you! If you had Kim C and Julia going 12 and 11 and Ruben going 8, but Kim C. and Ruben go, you will receive points for the difference between the lowest number eliminated and when you had Ruben scheduled to go, so 3 points in this scenario. And then of course your Julia pick is going to be off by at least one down the line, but…If your initial PTTE is a total disaster, don't despair. You can change your PTTE any time you'd like. You will, however, receive a 5 point penalty each time you change it. Changes must be made before the START of the live Tuesday performance to count for that week. Because we have a lot of fickle people here, changes to changes don't incur an additional penalty, as long as they are done before the next live performance show. You may also join late, but will be penalized 5 points for each episode you did not have your PTTE in for. And you may get a spanking too, but only if you ask nicely. The standings will be posted on Thursdays (or late Wednesdays if we are ambitious).

Was eager to post but then realized that I don't like any of the females (except the one that all of America seems to hate) and I don't think it will be all males in the final 3, so I am going to go into the upside down doggy lotus position and meditate on this problem. Will get back to you as soon as my joints unfreeze and I'm able to walk (or crawl) back to my puter. By the way if you don't hear from me in the next 24 hours or so please call for help!

LAST EDITED ON 03-08-03 AT 11:48 PM (EST)(edited to bump Josh up the list, after I realized how dreamy looking he really is...crap, how come all of us critics who KNOW better do all the bitching, while 12-year-old girls do all the voting?)
I struggled with the top three, but I'm not gonna change this (sic) no matter what: Kimberley is going to gradually rise to the top. I predict Clay will succumb to overexposure, and will ultimately fail in the inevitable boy-girl showdown. Charles may win the thing - he is definitely top three. By far the best combination of talent, confidence, and showmanship in the bunch. Trenyce will start getting strong, but fail as the competition gets stiff. Ruben is too stylistically sequestered to win the whole thing, although he is the most deserving overall, given his songwriting skills. Vanessa is a tough call - I'm undecided in general about her - but I think she has a strong enough following to glide above the sewage, but no further. Julia - the same. I wish Joshua were already gone, but his looks will carry him for a while. The other four are uncommentworthy garbage.
