I think ABC learned from Alias that this web subculture thing is really good advertising and maintains viewer interest between episodes. The whole Milo Rambaldi cult world (and there were multiple specially created websites) that was created became much more effective than they expected. Kids surfing the net who weren't originally watching Alias got hooked. What they didn't do was give out important information that couldn't be found in the show. It was just more accessible - the same as you couldn't have easily found some of the hidden Mole clues without taping the show. I just hope they aren't going to rely on some clues only being available on these PN sites. I think that would be unfair and make the show less interesting.
