"I went to a Garden Party..." |
This week we bid a sad farewell to Tarah, Nick’s former model and try to move on by throwing dead plants on the remaining models. Heidi mourns by wearing a toga. The designers have $100 and an hour to shop in the flower district. What sort of colorful concoctions do they create? Not enough it seems and they soon find out, it’s not easy being green. Let’s take a look at the designs that had more bush on the runway than at a nudist colony. Daniel: Winner
Daniel won for one major reason, he included some beautiful flowers. I really loved the weaving on the bodice as well, a great detail that really reflected well. This win means he has immunity next week.
Andrae: Out
The judges thought his topiary inspired design was boring and too stiff. I thought his technique was interesting, apparently Kara did too because she swiped the idea for her skirt. I’m sad to see Andrae go; I thought he was pretty talented, aside from his dramatics. Kara
Kara surprised me this week; I thought for sure she’d be out. She has consistently had trouble with the design and creation process and has just managed to squeak by so far. However, this week, she really came through with something lovely. Chloe
Despite her time crunch issues, she managed to pull off a lovely design. It was one of the prettiest things on the runway. However, her editing shifted in this episode and it’s making me nervous. Previews for next week are looking like she might be in trouble. Nick
A very sculptural design with very little to it. I really liked the look of it, but it was pretty skimpy on top and on bottom. Also, his model did not work it at all. The whole time she was standing next to him she had a sour look on her face as though she hated it. If Andrae had put a bit more color to his dress, Nick would have been out and deservedly so. Santino
Probably my favorite Santino creation so far. He’s definitely getting the redemption arc editing at this point. His Timpressions are funny and he’s really mellowed with the judges. This has been my favorite episode of the season. All of the dresses ended up far better than I would have expected given the materials and time allotted. A huge challenge that really showed off all the designers’ creativity. Next week, Daniel has immunity and the theme is makeover. Each designer has to create a garment for one of the other designers. I can’t wait to see what happens next. slice slice baby!I saw Tim Gunn and Andrae at Red Lobster last night, what a cute couple!

Ooo, lovely pics. Thanks again for including them.Daniel - His dress was very pretty. The cascade of violet flowers down the skirt and to the wrist gave a lovely, delicate touch to the flouncy fern skirt. The weave at the waist gave structure and texture. Very nice and a well-deserved win. Andrae - As much as I love Andrae, this dress was just not there. It looked stiff and painful to wear. The tiny touches of lavendar just weren't enough to bring color to the garment. Kara - When I saw her model come down the runway, I thought, "Oh rats. She's not going home tonight." The braided raffia and purple bust are terrific, as is the back of the bodice. The skirt isn't too great, but it's not as bad as Andrae's was. I'm shocked that she's still in this competition. Chloe - I loved this dress. It was simple without being simple. Grace, of course, carried it off perfectly. Nick - I really liked Nick's dress on the form. I thought the leaves wrapped around the torso were very sleek and the construction of the bust area was interesting. Unfortunately, his model, after last week's great walk, was a disaster again. Her slumped shoulders added to the impression that the dress was about to drop to the ground. Do I think it's vulgar? No. But it wasn't as solid as it should have been. Santino - I liked his dress, but it reminded me too much of a salad. The shininess was fine and the netting on the skirt was pretty. Too bad it looks so much like every other dress he's made.

I liked Chloe's and Santino's the best, actually. Daniel's was wonderful, too, but I didn't like the way we saw a lot of the actual dress beneath the flowers on top. I, too, was VERY RELIEVED Kara didn't win. Esp. with next week's immunity at stake. Time for Kara to go. Now, how bout the Nick editing? He was sour and whiny and unpleasant this week. Perhaps Nick is our "surprise ouster" this season? I thought it was funny that only Daniel really used flowers. Obviously, everyone remembered the Austin cornhusk dress (which I still say was Ubercool, at least to look at).

Project Runway is my favorite reality TV show.Kara should have gone last week. If I were the other contestants I would be wary of her coming too near my designs. When interviewed by Tim? during last night’s show, Kara commented that she wasn’t exactly sure how her design would turn out! Surprise, surprise, her dress had purple flowers on the bodice as did Daniels. By far I think Daniel is definitely gifted and deserves to win. Chloe’s the most original. Santina is talented, but doesn’t seem to care about who can (or would) wear his clothes. Nick seems to be sliding down the list and I already commented on Kara.

Kudos, again, to TJ for a wonderful recap.I will start by saying I was happy to see this episode, as I see it as an ode to the creativity of dear Austin. If not for his cornhusk dress, I don't think the producers would have had the idea for this challenge. The Judges are on my last nerve this week and I really disagreed with their choices & many of their comments. First of all, I need to get this out of the way, because I absolutely hate the fact that I have to admit that Kara did a great job this time around. I actually *gulp* think she deserved to win *wincing at the thought.* I thought Kara should have been out long ago, but on this task I thought her dress was the most creative. She really should have beat Daniel on this one. I also agree the only reason Daniel won was because he used flowers. I did like his top, but I hated the bulky skirt. He said it well when he told his model she looked like a bush walking down the runway. The flowers saved him. Which brings me to my first major complaint with the Judges. I couldn't believe how "disappointed" they were that more flowers weren't used. WHAT?? Both of them were there last season when Austin's corn husks whithered away in the short time between creation to runway. If I was designing a dress, I would have been afraid to use real flowers also. Wilted flowers are U G L Y & taking the chance could have been like Russian Roulette. My second complaint with the Judges was their falling-to-their-knees praise of Chloe's dress. IMO her's was the simplest & LEAST creative design of the bunch. Yes, it was wearable & looked nice & yes very t.i.m.e c.o.n.s.u.m.i.n.g -- HOWEVER anyone could cut out that dress pattern and glue on leaves. She could have went to the street & got a bunch of kids to help her glue them on. I like (not love) Chloe's designs, but I thought the judges were laying it on thick & I just didn't see what all the fuss was about. Andrae's dress was terrible looking, but what was redeeming about it was that there was a bit of creativity to it. It's just a shame his model looked like a groomed Chia pet. (I'll miss Andrae, one of my faves ) Santino's dress was actually nice (compared to most of his designs of late). I'm also glad he's been getting the redemption edit these last couple of weeks. He is HILARIOUS & really makes this season fun. This season would be very bland without him. Nick, my wonderful Nick. First, I want to say that I felt bad he wasn't able to snatch Tara back. Nick has been miserable without his muse & he's losing steam. Tara walked & looked great and Nick ADORED her. Now he is left with the ice princess. I thought his dress was one of the more creative designs last night -- not the best, but certainly not deserving of bottom 2. Which brings me to my third complaint about the judges. I was really ticked off & surprised that M.K. thought the design was vulgar. I wouldn't have gone that far. What was vulgar in this season was Zulema's azzdress & the judges weren't that harsh on her! To make matters worse, Nina says that ALL of Nick's designs are vulgar??? I don't know where that came from. I wanted to slap them all for that. At least next week, Nick doesn't have to work with the ice princess, but it does look like he has his hands full with Santino. I just hope Nick gets his second wind & comes back strong. I'd like to see him win next week so that he can dump the lousy model that B!t@h Zulema stuck him with and he'll hopefully sail into the final 3. Kind Creation of ARNutz
