StarryLuna 4765 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Stuff Magazine Centerfold" 07-28-05, 11:04 AM (EST) "SSC5(VA) Haunted" Like the majority of my work these days, this originally started out as an example for my students. I haven't worked with sratcboard in quite some time, but I thought it would be a good mental excercise for my students, as it forces them to work in reverse of what they're used to. This also ended up being a lesson in improvisation, as the stylus sticks I ordered didn't work on this particular type of scratchboard, so we had to use unbent paper clips. I wanted the texture of the scratches to show, so I scanned it at a high resolution. As a result, I had to scale it down a bit, so it's much smaller than it's regular 9x12 size. I'd fogotten all about scratchboard and stylus since high school art days decades ago. I find the most intriguing part of this piece in the way the branches are done, light on the edges, but dark where it directly faces the viewer.
