"Semifinals 1"
Well, the good news is that the singers should tend to step on each other's chances. The bad news is they didn't put all the singing/musical acts in one semi, all the varieties in the other.

Johnny Lonestar led off with a roping strutting performance set to the tune "Ride a Cowboy." It was actually worth seeing despite his silly gold drawers. 9

Julienne Irwin showed a lot of improvement as she continues her campaign to become America's answer to Britney Speers. 8

Kevin James then performed a performance that was some kind of performance but, sadly, not much of a magic act. It was very disappointing to see one of my F5 crash and burn. 2

Robert Hatcher came out of the sewer to save the day with another fine singing performance. 9

Jonny Come Lately brought out a Queen standard but still needs to look up the word "band" because whatever it is they got that ain't it. 5

Kashif danced Bollywood style with backup dancers who probably really can dance but I was too busy watching them for probable entertaining wardrobe malfunctions, but anyway we've certainly seen the last of him now. 0

Butterscotch came along to save the show with an incredible beatbox song. 10

Sideswipe strutted their manly manliness for all the ladies, scoring high on required elements but not giving their all in artistic interpretation. 6

Manual Romero really really loved a lady, her name was Sharon, he's done better. 5

The Glamazons closed the show with a really great disco burlesque, seriously I'm not making that up *shudder* disco! *shudder* burlesque! 8

Then there was a cyber-riot at the NBC site because no one could vote online.

I just watched it on DVR last night, and because a certain cross-dressing untalented hack isn't performing until next week, I don't have to shoot myself until then.

Anywho...

Johnny Lonestar: Nice rope show. Does he have anything else in his repertoire?
Grade: B

Julienne Irwin: I was really glad they picked her over that blond. She's incredible.
Grade: A-

Kevin James: For an incredible magician, he sure crapped the bed under pressure.
Grade: F

Robert Hatcher: It would have been nicer if he didn't sound like he was speaking instead of singing.
Grade: C-

Jonny Come Lately: We get it; they're a teen band with goofy hair. Now stop singing in fast-forward and pick better songs.
Grade: C

Kashif: I'm sure his moves are spectabular in India. They don't translate here, and the show is called America's Got Talent, not India's Got Talent.
Grade: F

Butterscotch: The opening sounded like a broken kazoo. Then she sang and beatboxed at the same time. Is that even possible?
Grade: A-

Sideswipe: Good moves. Excellent sync. Keep it up and you'll work your way up to hawking instructional videos at 5 AM on FOX Kids.
Grade: B-

Manuel Romero: Excellent singer. Could be a great one. Also might make the teenage girls forget about Sideswipe.
Grade: A

The Glamazons: OK, I get it. They're bigger females with whom Piers is madly in love. Now show that talent with some better song choices.
Grade: A-

Should go forward:

Johnny Lonestar - he's a bit repetitive, but he's good
Julienne Irwin - perhaps the next LeAnn Rimes...then again, I'm not a fan of Rimes
Butterscotch - she mumbles a bit, but she can sing and beatbox at the same time
Manuel Romero - he's just that good
The Glamazons - their only fault is their song choice; other than that, I have no complaints

Will go forward:

Johnny Lonestar - the audience isn't sick of the rope tricks yet
Julienne Irwin - they love young female singers
Jonny Come Lately - all the kids will want someone to identify with
Sideswipe - all the teenage girls will vote for them
Manuel Romero - OK, so talent counts for something

Raw deal alert:

Butterscotch - she comes off as having a bad attitude, and the voters won't go for that
The Glamazons - no matter how good they are, they don't purge every time they eat a rice cake, so they lose the all-important Hollywood vote...sad but true

I couldn't put my finger on the problem, but you did!
Tho I don't vote, if I did, that's why I wouldn't for her.

ETA: My favorites of the whole bunch:

The Glamazons

Sideswipe

I haven't seen her as having a bad attitude as much as being incredibly shy. She is so soft-spoken and sweet every time she's interviewed. My little girls love her and want her to win. Me too.

Man - I'm tired of the singing acts and what happens:

1st one thru - singer
2nd one - singer
3rd one - singer
4th one - singer
5th one - variety woot woot

Yeah, so much for my hope to see the singing/musical acts cancel out their chances.

Julienne Irwin is in over her head. Robert Hatcher is too. They do have talent but also a lot of sentimental appeal. Butterscotch gave the best performance last week, IMHO, so YAY! The Glamazons are wonderful but I can't root for them, they have the talent to ditch the glam shtick for glamor and they really ought to. And I guess I was all wrong about Sideswipe and who knows, maybe synchronous karate will be in the next Olympics and if they get the makeup on right these guys can win the US some gold.

Shame we have to say goodbye to Johnny Lonestar, he gave a great performance last week and really should have made it to the final round.
