Aw, Doc. If I'd known you were here.... I like this show over the Apprentice, but last night's episode was kind of boring. I guess I'm just used to the death-defying stunts. Not that sleeping with lions isn't death-defying -- just boring to watch. I thought it was interesting how the girls finally came together after they heard the guys bashing them. Now we know what motivates the women. The guys put on a lame presentation. I knew as soon as I heard "strategic planning" that the elders were gonna be like WTF?? You've gotta hand it to Dicque. With all his kazillions, he could be running his empire from a comfy lazy-boy. He seemed to have a genuine desire to help the tribe and to ensure that the teams learned something about the human side of conducting business. In spite of the weird tongue-flicky thing he does, I'm really liking the guy. Yes, kitties can have blogs, too.

LAST EDITED ON 11-24-04 AT 11:11 AM (EST)Last night was again outstanding. Talk about mixing the practical with the insane. The men reminded me of a group from Price Waterhouse trying to sell a client. They spent hours on that model which was just absurd and busy patting themselves on the back so much they couldn't see the jungle for the trees. The women started out intimidated. They had the whole Hong Kong thing over their head and let that interfere with their work, but once Nicole heard the men's rants it was all they needed. She actually did great last night. They used simple and practical skills - which ironically is exactly what was needed and given that the PM was a former teacher it worked. I don't believe they were alone in the jungle.. but THEY believed it and that was the point. My husband has had to pull many all nighters during his career and he got the point. You are alone in your thoughts and you may have to do this to get it done. He often does this and lets the team take a break. So far all of the lessons on this show he relates to.. more so than Don-blows stupid "think out of the box" "stay consistent" crap he dishes out. In fact at their last conference the whole extreme sports/danger/mountain climber was their last theme. They invited climbers from Everest to come and speak, they did teaching games about this and actually are using some of the writings of Jon Krakauer to inspire them to take risks and go beyond their limits. So when people eschew the whole Branson approach he thinks its amusing because many businesses are actually using these concepts. His company has sponsored teams on Eco Challenge, TAR and Survivor. They actually encourage people to push themselves in new directions. I also like Branson. He is a listener. He geniunely cares about the players and seems to take this as seriously as one can considering the context. His English nature is something we only see on Masterpiece Theatre but his business success and acumen we see all the time.

I think the episode was interesting to the participants. But it wasn't that interesting to watch. I liked the first few episodes. But I found this one kind of slow.
