"CSI (Vegas)"
Another great episode last night and another GREAT performance from Nick. I can't believe that he got passed over for an Emmy nomination after the season finale last year, but he's got to be a serious contender again this year.

Do all these CSI's have the same writers, cause I never see the same level of story-telling in any of the other versions? The original is definitely the best and even Gary Sinese (who I think is great) can't brin any life to the NY version.

<can't believe that he got passed over for an Emmy nomination after the season finale last year, but he's got to be a serious contender again this year.

I thought he was phenomenal last season and said at the time that he should win the emmy for that episode.

I had let Survivor tape and was playing it back, when I realized I hadn't set to record CSI last night.

WHAT HAPPENED?!

GREAT episode again. It's no wonder I prefer this cast over Miami and NY combined. This episode related again to Stokes' season finale episode from last season.

Opening scene of puddles of blood in the house. The family of 4 (Mom, Dad, son, & daughter) are missing. One of the CSI's investigates downstairs in the basement and discovers a marijuana farm. Son's side business of selling term papers are discovered which leads to a couple of classmates. Son tells the classmates he has loads of pot in his house and tells them to come by when his Dad isn't there. They show up; Dad still there. One of the guys shoots the son by accident, then kills the Dad who came up from the basement, then kills the Mom coming downstairs. The daughter isn't killed because the guy runs out of bullets. They then decide to drug her first, then kill her. They dump the bodies into a lake. The bodies of the Mom, Dad, & son are found, but no sign of the daughter. All this time, evidence points to the daughter being killed too, but Stokes refuses to believe she is dead. From the beginning of the episode, they start discovering little packets of Bubbilicious (sp?) being left behind. She's leaving a trail of gumdrops to lead them to her. In one of the flashbacks, it shows the drugged girl's throat being slashed and dumped into the lake. Also in the flashbacks, she is an accomplished swimmer, so Stokes believes she is alive. They find the daughter barely alive. Clutched in her hand are the remaining little packets of gum. Hence, the title of the episode. I think it was "Gumdrops...." something.

In the final scene, it shows the daughter in a hospital bed recovering. She shows Stokes a card she made for him thanking him for saving her from the bad guys. She writes on a pad of paper to Stokes about her family. Stokes sugarcoats it and says her family is in Vegas. She then writes that she's 10 years old and not to baby her. He then tells her they are at the Coroner's in Vegas. She's sad. He then asks her to retell the story of what happened...and it ends there.

Very good episode.

Oh, almost forgot. There was a scene where one of the Mom's friends came by and told Stokes that he was a female in a previous lifetime; how he had this strong aura of a female coming from his forehead.

I actually had the impression that she was sensing his connection with the little girl. I think what she said was something along the lines of 'your third eye is wide open and I sense a very feminine aspect.' The little girl 'narrated' Nick through the murder scene and he seemed to have some kind of telepathy with her.

That what *I* got from her comment, anyhow.

Oh, I see. The writers are developing Nick's character a bit, aren't they?

I hope it's not in preparation for a spin off of some kind.

usually just when my babies are born, when I break a bone or when my Rangers are eliminated from playoff contention (July 4th in most seasons). But I cried during this episode. I think the girl reminded me so much of my DD. I woulda hugged mine right away, but she was asleep right then.

CSI(Vegas only) and Survivor are the only two shows I watch. And CSI is still great.

I finally watched the ep last night and it was one of my favorites. I'm glad they seem to be exploring more of Nick's character of late & he is able to show his acting chops.

Thank heavens the whole fiasco last year with George & Jorja misunderstanding didn't result in them both being dropped from the show.

I have been unable to really get into either of the spinoffs -- Miami just has a totally different feel to it & the characters don't draw me in AT ALL -- something is missing. I am a HUGE fan of Gary Sinise, but New York also hasn't done anything to MAKE me HAVE to watch.

The original just has such a great cast and the characters make you CARE about them. I also think the writing, directing, cinematography seems far superior on the original. When I watch it, it always evokes strong emotions from me -- unlike Miami & NYC.

They better not mess with what they have with Las Vegas, because it's not broken.

Kind Creation of ARNutz

<Miami just has a totally different feel to it & the characters don't draw me in AT ALL -- something is missing

Miami's characters are too low key to be dynamic the way LV's cast is.

The delivery of their lines is flat. I'm not sure whether it's the direction or the "acting," since that blond's character on West Wing was exactly the same one she's playing on Miami. - smart, but dull.

Before last season they had a little contract holdout issue that caused them to get fired - albiet very temporarily. No more money. Period.

Suddenly it became a big misunderstanding and I believe that they wrote it off to oversleeping.

It's funny that you say that about Gary Sinese. I love him as an actor but I don't care for him in the CSI series. I am having trouble staying interested in the NY series. And normally I am not at all a fan of David Caruso but I do find him more believable, or enjoyable than I do Sinese. I do agree that Vegas is the best of the lot though.

I'm not sure WHY Mack fails as a character either. Sinese is a great actor and the background for his character should be compelling - ex-Marine, wife died in WTC, a clean-cut good guy you should be able to root for. But I've just made no connection with his character, instead of intense and upright he comes across as angry and morose.

You hit it on the head. That I just can't seem to connect with Sinese's character and don't know why. I despise Caruso, always have but I do find him watchable in this series. Odd, an actor that I love, I'm not connecting with and an actor that I can't stand, I can watch.

I too watch all three, and Vegas is definately different. I watch Miami and NY on Tivo when I have time. Vegas is a can't miss for us.

Last year's finale was very intense. I had a hard time watching it, and I agree with you that George had a brilliant performance. And the same can be said for last Thursday's episode.

I was very surprised that the little girl was still alive.

Last year's finale was very intense. I had a hard time watching it That was probably some of the most intense tv I watched in a long time. I'm glad they didn't just drop that storyline after the finale though - I'm interested to see what happens with Grissom inspecting the tapes and the continuing effects it's having on Nick.

I only got into CSI last season. DH was watching the reruns on Spike and one night I watched it with him. Next thing I knew, we were watching two episodes a night along with the new eps on Thursdays. The good thing is I started watching with him at just the right time - within a day or two of my first watching, Spike started from the first episode of season one, so in just over two months I was pretty much caught up with everything.

Just saw the "Pirates of the Third Reich" episode. Melinda Clarke playing a dominatrix sure is a far cry from her playing a mother on the OC.

The last minute made me a bit uncomfortable because I was thinking she was either:

A) Enjoying it sexually
B) Enjoying it because he murdered her daughter
C) All of the above

I actually like the CSI Miami almost as much as the Vegas one. while I agree the cast of vegas is a little better, Miami has more interesting crimes- I think b,c of the location, its nicer to watch, and its always sunny (while most of the vegas episodes are shot at night) I like seeing all the random and strange things going on in miami. agree David Caruso is strange but he sort of grows on me. Obviously he is less realistic as a character than lets say Grissam (who is also strange but in a different way) I love in Manhattan so CSI NY is less interesting to me b/c I feel like I am not seeing anything so new- but I have to say I think the comradship between the team in CSI NY may be the best. they have really good chemistry as a team.
