PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.
As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Is the reason the deadline was moved up because of Snewser? That makes no sense. He's not always right. I honestly have not seen anything letting us know about the 2 pm deadline except the replies to those of us who didn't know in this forum (which I don't normally read). Today is the first time I've read any of those posts. I don't mean to harp on this issue, but prior to S5 (when I started being able to put my picks in at work), dh and I used to have an argument every Survivor Thursday after work because I would ask him to watch the kids while I hurried up to the computer to get my picks in. That's how I know the deadline was not 2 pm - I didn't even get home until about 5:40. Guess Survivor Island is now just one more thing that discriminates against working mothers. BTW, my son just got home from school and is not happy that it's too late to put his picks in. He didn't know either.

Is the reason the deadline was moved up because of Snewser? That makes no sense. He's not always right. True, but he gets enough insider information that some of the "surprise" picks from prior seasons were only gotten correct by those folks who made last-minute changes after Snewser made his prediction. He's helped more people than he's burned. I honestly have not seen anything letting us know about the 2 pm deadline except the replies to those of us who didn't know in this forum (which I don't normally read). Today is the first time I've read any of those posts. I just copied this from the Spoiler Island website - it's the Episode 3 line from the table where you make your picks. EPISODE 3 No pick No pick No pick 10/2/2003 2:00:00 PM ET EDIT And frankly, if this is the first time you've read any posts here, the only person you have to blame is yourself, since you asked - and were answered - about the deadline when you posted here at the end of last season. That's how I know the deadline was not 2 pm It was for the entire season of S6, and has stayed in effect for S7. Guess Survivor Island is now just one more thing that discriminates against working mothers. Since you have from now until next Thursday at 2pm to make you pick for the upcoming week (since Episode 3 is already open), how is it discriminatory? There are plenty of hours between now and then. And since there's no penalty for changing your mind, there's nothing to stop you from posting now and changing it as the airtime approaches. Fighting for evil (and neat forums) since 2002

>Is the reason the deadline was moved up because of Snewser? > That makes no sense. He's not always right. It's one of the reasons. And a 90%+ success rate is close enough for me. I give my time to run this game. And I don't want to run a game for a bunch of last-minute pick-ape's who's sole "spoiling talent" is the ability to have access to the SurvivorNews website at 5:45PM. >I honestly have not seen anything letting us know about the >2 pm deadline except the replies to those of us >who didn't know in this forum (which I don't normally >read). Today is the first time I've read any >of those posts. If you haven't seen it, it's because you haven't been looking. It's on the POLL LISTING page right next to the EDIT button for every link. The change was also mentioned in the intiial release of the game last season... when the change occurred. "I didn't see it" was a poor excuse last May and it's an even poorer excuse now... and the idea that you post a complaint about something last season and then never even bothered to see if anyone replied to your posting is troubling. >I don't mean to harp on this issue,
...but you're going to anyways. In two different topics today, and three in the last 6 months. Hopefully you'll at least bother to come back and read the ones from today... >but prior to S5 (when I started being >able to put my picks in at work), dh and >I used to have an argument every Survivor Thursday after >work because I would ask him to watch the kids >while I hurried up to the computer to get my >picks in. That's how I know the deadline was >not 2 pm - I didn't even get home until >about 5:40. Yes... and S5 was last fall. The times changed starting with S6. So what did you do all of last spring? >Guess Survivor Island is now just one more thing that discriminates >against working mothers. Yep, that's it, you're figured out my evil secret plan. PLE-EAZE. What about anyone else that works? What about WestCoasters? How about those who work third shift? How about those that don't have Internet access at home? How about those full-day working stiffs who are stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic at 5:45PM? Was it fair then? Your comment is just some insane that I've lost any interent in continuing this discussion any further. >BTW, my son just got home from school and is not >happy that it's too late to put his picks in. > He didn't know either. Apparently the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree... -SB

6. "Sorry." |
Webby, I apologize.I honestly didn't know about the time change (and it never occurred to me that there would be one) and actually forgot all about it between last season and today (believe it or not, this site is not the center of my universe). I don't spend much time on the internet, and when Survivor isn't on, I don't visit this site that often. It's nothing personal, you know how much I appreciate everything you do here (I've been with Blows since Day 1), I just don't spend much time on the internet. I don't remember seeing any announcement about the time being moved up last season and obviously a few other people didn't either. BTW, the crack about discriminating against working mothers was A JOKE. I'm well aware that you're not like that and that this site is not a discriminating place. I don't think there's any conspiracy on your part. I happen to find conspiracy theories to be a hoot. Sorry if you thought I was accusing you of anything. I made it through last season without knowing about the time change because I had been putting my picks in at work (things were really slow at the office for awhile). My son had been putting his picks in before school in the morning. The day of the final episode we decided to see if there were any last minute spoilers, so we waited until I got home. Concerning my son, he's only 11 and I just let him sign up last season for the game. He happens to be a big Survivor fan and was all excited to try to guess what will happen. He doesn't get to spend a lot of time on the computer because he has homework, plays sports and has a father who hogs the computer (and no, I'm not trying to make that your problem). Running home from school to get a few minutes on the computer is a big deal to him. You didn't need to insult a child (or a mother for advocating for her child). Although you said you'd lost interest in the topic, you made a point of insulting me again in a different thread while I was writing this apology. Frankly, I'm disappointed that you felt that was necessary. I guess you needed to point out what an awful person I am for having other things on my mind and being a little confused that something was changed after being the same way for so long. I'll try to be more perfect from now on. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you. I didn't mean to imply that you don't work hard, or that anything was dishonest, I just thought there should have been a posting in big letters or something for those of us who are usually in a hurry and don't have time to read fine print (and the print is quite small - I personally have to squint to read it). Guess I missed the explanation on the index page before S6 about the need to change the deadline for Spoler Island because it was getting to be a zoo with people changing their picks at the last minute after checking Snewer's picks. Now that I understand the reasoning, it makes sense, but previously it didn't. I have a parent-child Hebrew class to get to with my 9 year old, so I won't be checking this board again this evening. Feel free to dump on me all you want. I probably won't be checking this forum again now that I know about the time change. Enjoy your evening.
