Whadja get? I'm getting DH a pair of sunglasses and a movie pass to see Wall-e next week when it comes out. However, I was tempted today by an advertisement in the Canadian Tire flyer for this "projection" clock radio: It is for the truly lazy man who cannot muster up enough energy to crank his head around on the pillow to look at the time. (How polite of Canadian Tire to not advertise this for Mother's Day, which implies that they think only men could be so lazy as to have to have the time reflected on the ceiling.) *puts on shopping list* Perpetual *headbutt* compliments of Rolly.

Well, my wife and kids allowed me to cross another thing off my bucket list, ironically, which almost caused me to kick the bucket I participated in and completed the Great Lake to Lake Classic (www.laketolake.ca) mountain-bike race between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. It was 52 km of challenging, muddy trails that took me about 3.5 hours to complete, notwithstanding a cramped quadricep around kilometre #30. There were close to 1,000 participants. It was a great achievement, but I am very achy, sunburnt, and thinking tomorrow might be a day off work :-P
Half man, half amazing, all DAW

First, thanks to the OT folks here for the Father's Day wishes. Many of us fathers here are deeply grateful for our families we share our life with. I like your post, Prof, with Barack's Father's Day speech, too, as I feel both the joy and the great sense of responsibility that comes from being the father of my family, every day, every moment.I almost feel a little bit guilty, because I was showered with nice gifts today along with a nice dinner out. They feel I deserve it, but for me, the greatest gift of all is them. So what did I get? This from DW... and this from DS... ... and a nice home-made card that 4-year old DD made herself. What a lucky father I am!
