PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.
As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Heh. Then I'm a shoe-in. I am always myself, even when it ends me up in a pot of hot (or boiling) water. {grin} (right, leaf-boy?)It was weird sitting around with a bunch of friends trying to guess the psychology of the people who'll be responsible for the "cuts." Here's what we came up with: First cut: they don't like your photo Second cut: they don't like your application answers for some reason. Hard to read, skipped answers, BORING! Third cut: Videotape is completely uninteresting All these cuts are probably by interns Fourth cut: actual producers or assistants examine and re-cut for the above 3 reasons. Fifth cut: INTERVIEWS Sixth cut: physical/mental exams the first 4 cuts happen behind the scenes, and if they really get 100,000 applications, then it's about 120 to 1 against getting an interview. (100,000 -> 800) cut 5 is 800 -> 48, which is about 16 to 1 against. cut 6 is 48 -> 16 (plus alternates?) or 4 to 1 against. Overall: ~6,250 to 1 against. I'm NOT holding my breath, but I AM hopeful. Every part of my application is as interesting as I could make it, and the 3 FEET to snow that I had to work with that weekend was a BIG help. That, my mountain bike, a good soundtrack, and a willingness to make a complete fool of myself on video all contributed, of course! -- JV
