I'm incensed!!! I just cannot believe what Wal-Mart is doing! The censorship is just stunning. The insensitivity to their customer base is just horrifying. I'm organizing boycotts, protests, marches about this one! Look out Wal-Mart, here I come!

Who will join me in my cry against this unspeakable outrage?!?!

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm joking.

I AGREE! I WANT MY MAGAZINES!!!

Actually, I don't really read the magazines anyway. I'd rather live in the real world, than drool over some picture.

It seems to me that most Maxim buyers isn't exactly part of the "Walmart crowd." I'm sure they can find them at their local 7-11.

Good for Walmart to get rid of the dirty magazines.. It is a family store, for pete's sake! I would not want my sons to go and take a peek at magazines where there are no monitors in a magazine section.

The 7-11 store or Macs (Canada) has the magazines where they can monitor young people and catch them easily. They do not allow to read magazines at all unless paid.

First of all, I read Maxim because it is absolutely hilarious (just wanted to preface my statement with that).

IMO, if Wal-Mart is banning Maxim and the other "lad's magazines", why are they not banning women's magazines? Most of the women's magazines are objecifying women to the same extent, pushing the envelope on 'pornography' (as stated in the article)so why the ban on men's mags? The majority of the covers of like women's magazines are graced with scantily clad women, so why are they not banned.

Of course Wal-Mart can do whatever the heck they want (they also do not sell CDs with explicit lyrics and I could care less about that), I just wonder what the fuss is over men's magazines when women's magazines are just as 'racy' (to quote the author).

6. "Agree, sort of"
I can't bring anything like MAXIM or whatever to work because it would be considered sexual harrassment (or bordering on it anyway). But the women I work with can bring COSMO and MS. and whatever else in, as much as they please. On the other hand, those mags are hysterical as well, it would be a shame to protest the only interesting reading in the workplace.

That's okay, Saphire. As the (almost) hidden text in my original post said, I'm being humorous about all this.

I have no problem with this -- WalMart can sell whatever product it wants and it isn't censorship. Now, if the government was trying to tell WalMart not to sell those soft-core pornos, then I'd have a problem.
So, lesson here: if you want a "pretending not to be porn" mag, don't go to WalMart because it's a "family" store.
If you need a gun, though, WalMart is your place!

True, and their prices are good... but their selection of firearms is generally limited. So I visit gun shows and gun shops for those purchases.
