LAST EDITED ON 08-21-08 AT 03:34 PM (EST)Think there's music I ought to own? Go to http://tinyurl.com/6zoe7h and pick out one to ten CDs from their full section, which can be accessed from the sidebar categories. I'll spend PPs on the six that have been selected the most by 5 p.m. EDT tomorrow Friday. For all intents and purposes, assume I own none of the titles. If I get a duplicate, I'll just donate it to the youth center. And if y'all try to sabotage me, I'll just donate that to the youth center. Don't worry about genre or category: e.g. Christian rock will not be discounted as long as it actually rocks. All I care about here is the quality of the music. They're never bringing the full DVD selection back and I'm getting sick of sitting on all these points. I've got over 700 unspent. That's just sickening.

Season One FNL was on there, wasn't it? Did you get it?I looked through some more of the CD list. I obviously suggest you get whatever Pearl Jam they have on there. I rememeber seeing "Ten" and "rearviewmirror"... "rearviewmirror" is probably the better way to go (if forced to choose). There's also "the soundtrack to Into the Wild" by Eddie Vedder. He has a song on there called "Society" that I love. It's all good. My favorite Coldplay album is "Parachutes". My favorite Radiohead album is "Kid A", I think... "OK Computer" is good stuff too. Rage Against the Machine 311 "Greatest Hits '93-'03" (I'm pretty much recommending that one for SilverStar because she LOVES them) Band of Horses - "Cease to Begin" 30 Seconds to Mars - "A Beautiful Lie" (Jared Leto! and it's good stuff) Foo Fighters, Kravitz, Dylan, Springsteen... you can't go wrong with any of those

Pepsi, She Who's Been Having Blonde Moments The Whole Week. Not Coke. Pepsi. You can't have more than three thousand Pepsi Points, and they don't stock wallpaper. As far as Coke goes, I've finally spent points on something other than the Visa cards (which turned into part of an Amazon order) in picking up a few magazine subscriptions. At this point, I really don't care what I do with those points as long as I get in ten codes a day and stay around the 10k mark just in case anything nice comes along in the high values. If they bring the TV back, it'll probably be inflated to 25,000 or so -- totally out of reach for me. And since the current increases seem to have 1000 point=$25.00 Towards Shoes You Don't Want, keeping 10k on hand will at least let me get one pair of ridiculously overpriced sneakers. Personally, I'm surprised you're seeing anything on the current Coke list worth spending points on. The rice cooker is hideously overpriced.

LAST EDITED ON 08-20-08 AT 03:24 PM (EST)OK Longtime Lurker, occasional poster. British and 40 so nothing too trendy. 1/ I really like Talking Heads, and "The Best of Talking Heads" is a great way to find out if you do too. 2/ Enya has an incredible voice, if you like ethereal Irish music "Paint the Sky with Stars: The Best of Enya" sounds like a goody. 3/ I think this had a different name back when it was one of the first two CDs I puchased, but "The Cure - Greatest Hits" is a must. (The other was Eponymous by REM). 4/ In my top 5 albums of all time "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" by Oasis - Wonderwall, Don't look back in anger, there aren't many better than this. 5/ "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" Nuff said 6/ If you seriously haven't got any Dylan "Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits" 7/ "Revolver" I prefer Sgt. Pepper, still a reminder of how good the Beatles actually were though. 8/ If you don't know Joss Stone "Introducing Joss Stone" worth a try, although we all extract the michael from her because of her new fake American accent now, she still has a great singing voice. 9/ Ah Lily Allen, songs sound lovely and light, then you listen to the words "Alright, Still"

LAST EDITED ON 08-21-08 AT 04:24 PM (EST)I was just going to select classic/famous albums, but I figure you know enough about them to know if you like them or you don't and if you can ignore my opinion. So one-ten albums I enjoyed that you may or may not have heard of on that list. I'll name five and try to make them as varied as possible in style/type, although you'll see my leanings in them One Cell in the Sea - A Fine Frenzy Introducing Joss Stone - Joss Stone Lifeline - Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals Good News For People Who Love Bad News - Modest Mouse American Idiot - Green Day Edit: Since I have five left, I'll pick five from the already chosen list to make a dent in the huge tiebreaker of "one" Come Away With Me - Norah Jones Best of Talking Heads - Talking Heads (only because Slice really seems to want you to have that one) The Very Best of Prince - Prince Alright Still - Lily Allen Revolver - The Beatles

I'm sorry. John would have been so much better at this than I. Based on what I know we/he liked, these would be my picks. Take yours from among them:Alternative: We both really liked Red Hot Chili Peppers. Don't have either of these, so I think they'd likely be on his list. Classic Rock: Pink Floyd, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Dylan, Dave Mathews, Seger, any of these, at least. I might add the Steve Miller - not because I necessarily like or even remember him, but I still have the satin jacket that goes with that record. (I bought it way back when, when I worked at a record store. I liked the logo.) Cultural: Santana Metal: Van Halen, Daughtry, AC/DC, Sebastian Bach, Linkin Park, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Journey, same ones listed under classic rock. Finger Eleven for sure. (They played at one of the last concerts we worked together this year. We really enjoyed them and were surprised that they weren't selling any CD's at the concert.) Rock: John Mayer, Jimmy Buffet, Dire Straits, Eddie Vetter, Pearl Jam, Lenny Kravitz, R.E.M., Seal, Barenaked Ladies, others already mentioned. He might have a a few other suggestions and would have been able to argue the merits of one album over another. Alas, I cannot. I was surprised that neither Zappa nor Weird Al were listed anywhere. They'd be, particularly Zappa, on his wish list. Me? I listened to and liked most anything he put in my CD changer. Neither of us liked or listened to Rap, Hip Hop, or most Country, so I didn't bother with those. Smokeysmom's comfort

Santana went through quite a few phases, and his original 3 albums are classics. Six of the best songs in this Ultimate Santana compilation come from these early albums. I don't see anything from what I'd call his transcendental phase (e.g., Moonflower) and most of the remaining songs look fairly recent, with only Smooth standing out. As a Santana collector, I might pick this one up, although I already have the songs/instrumentals I'd want on other CD's in my collection.Pearl Jam is good, and although I haven't listened to Ten yet, I expect it's good with the reviews it has gotten and the unique sound Pearl Jam is known for. Here's one I'd grab from the list for a first listen (and likely many more). Led Zep I, II and IV. I have them and have listened to them countless times. They're good. If anything, they've gotten too much play time. But if you don't have them, there's a huge, gaping hole in your classic rock collection. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is their best, hands down. If you don't have it, snap it up. Eagles' Greatest Hits '71-'75 is a nice collection, capturing the songs that consistently made the airwaves and Casey Kasem's BB Top 40. If you listened to radio then, you'll recognize almost every song here. The Hotel California album itself is a classic and a good companion CD to this one. I've lost track of the various Best of Eric Clapton albums, and this one looks like it might not be what the genuine Clapton fan is looking for, "featuring" Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and others. It might be good, and it might not. I'd probably stick with the mainstream Clapton albums with the original songs. Muse Absolution is one of a kind, and one of the very few modern groups and albums I really like. My teen son turned me onto them and my sigpic here is from the cover. Agman's Muse
