"Blowhemian Family Album - A new beginning" |
A long time ago, someone came up with a brilliant idea. People often post pictures of themselves or their families. We have some great looking people and it is often neat to put a face with a screenname (although there are also many suprises). As many of you know, the album got deleted. I am in the process of reconstructing it, but I need your help.First, I would like to start over again. Some people feel strongly about not having their pictures up on the web. Consider this the OFFICIAL sign-up thresd. I plan to only put people in the album that sign up. The others, I will hide (so I do not lose the links to their pictures). Consider this post as my official sign-up (although I may change the pics I use). If you would like to add your picture or change the pictures you previously sent, just post them in this thresd. If you would not like to appear in the ablum, you really do not need to do anything. No response = will not appear. Second, If you have a blog or other link you would like included, let me know. Again, I will probably go with only the links people sign up for, so if you want people to read your blog, let me know. Third, I lost the previous collage of siggie pics that was on the front page. If someone could find that link, I would love that. If someone wants to create a new one, that would be great as well. Finally, give me some feedback regarding what you would like to see on the page. I would like to add a simple games page, maybe a link to some quizzes, a direct link to OT, and some pages for the Banana Tour and Peep Meets. I would love to know if you think any of these ideas particularly appeal to you or if you really dislike any of them. Now, I am leaving shortly and will be gone for most of the rest of the day. So if you ask me a question, do not expect a response until tomorrow. Until then have fun with this thresd.

One cool idea would be to add a profile listing. Y'know, a list of favorite stuff, like colors, foods, etc. Kind of like how they have Survivor Profiles.

Well, the only known picture of me on the 'Net is from the Pittsburgh leg of the Banana Tour. But if you want to find it and post it, that's fine with me. We are going to be updating our campus' website and (supposedly) posting pictures of us with our departmental information, so if that happens in the near future, I'll get it to you. It's much more flattering than the one of me with Bruiser (mainly because I wasn't drunk when it was taken).
I'm such a slut for the blues.

 As for ideas...since I painstakingly wrote a big Banana Tour summary  , I'd like to have that included somewhere on the banana tour page. Some of the links in that original summary are surely dead now (since all of them have slipped into archives now), so having it within our album would be cool
A 'peep meet' page would also be awesome! Also, maybe you could set up the album like the Survivor site...have a small page for each OT peep with a "Favorites" and bio sort of thing. If that's too complicated or you don't have the bandwidth for something like that, then just a simple pics page like hte original album would be just fine, too. I don't know diddly about .asp stuff, but I could help with any general HTML stuff, if needed.

Count me in, SB. I'll try to look up the links to the recent pics I posted with me and my children. I always seem to have problem with searching the archives though. always times out on me.
Another option for the Banana Tour History would be the following: A co-worker of mine and his brothers have started up a travel website (I may even become a mod soon. gasp!) here. I could easily create Bruiser as a member and then, it would be very easy to create a new trip entry for each of Bruiser's visits. The site allows for members to post pics in each trip page. This is an example of a travelling Koala from a grade 1/2 class doing a similar kind of trip as the OT banana. In here, you can see how easy it would be to add the different trips and pics for those trips. It would be a fairly easy way of having a one stop shop for all historical banana trips complete with travelogs (texts) and pics. Let me know what you think. I don't mind setting it all up if people don't have any objection to it. (and if PhoenixMons (I think it was you) could give me the link to her first archival historical work on the first few months of Le Tour de Banana). Edited to fix html tags

Heh! Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I posted. This doesn't need to be any bigger of a headache for SBear. I just thought I'd throw the idea out there. There are some people here who are understandably wary of the lurkers - how many are there anyway? Do we have ANY idea? I don't care if my pic is out there, but if there was a manageable way to keep it semi-private, maybe that would be a good thing. I volunteer to be the one to PM everyone with the address. Perhaps other posters have a better idea for keeping it semi-private. Or maybe no one cares. Dialogue anyone?

Luckily, I found a CD of pictures which are saved as JPEGs, so I found that I can upload them to this site.(SurBear, these are the ones I sent you, but now I've figured out how to upload them) I'm not particularly "photogenic," but these pictures turned out well. This is me during a break on a church trip. Again, I have a Slurpee. We don't have 7-11 in Ohio, so anytime I can get one, I do. Now, if only they had Dr. Pepper flavored...
