I was surprised who SO introduced her to. If you look up the authors website it looks like she is still prostituting herself. I can't imagine why she would consider this woman her new mentor.. Very scary.

I wonder how did SO or Iyanla pick this young lady out of so many other possible role models or young women that have turned their lives around and didn't somebody look into her background further to make sure she actually was living her life differently now. I know SO is taped months before it airs on tv so maybe just maybe her website with those pics had not been posted yet. Some of those pics look like porn! hmmm
She may have said one thing on the SO show but her website depicts something totally different.

The author seemed so as though she were following a script and just sounded so phony and predictable, and this woman is her new mentor?!!! Not a very good move, Christina is too easily influenced in my opinion. And why would they have them meet in a strip club? Isn't that sending mixed messages? This woman is supposed to be a best selling author and a self described "woman of honor" so why isn't she able to conduct a meeting outside of a strip club? I thought that was the life Christina was trying to break away from? Highly innappropriate IMO.

Karrina has some very provocative pictures on her website. As close to stripping as you can get. Now, I have no problem with that, but I would not choose her as a mentor to a woman that's trying to quit stripping.

Karinne "Superhead" Steffans is a whole lot more than a reformed stripper. A self-proclaimed video vixen, her claim to fame is that she has given oral sex (i.e. the nickname) to numerous hip hop men, and they have paid her way in life.While I do understand the importance of introducing Christina to someone who has been where she was, I hardly think that Karinne was the person for that task. I was shocked and a bit appalled when I recognized her (I just watched the episode this morning). I immediately called a girlfriend to share in what I was watching, and we were both blown. Of course we knew that chances were MOST of the viewers would not be aware of who she really is, but I was blown. Even a few months ago, in her publicizing of her book, Ms. Steffans was putting all the recent people she had been with on blast and talking about their bedroom antics, so I just don't trust that she is "reformed." She is still putting her business out there and capitalizing b/c she can put the names of her recent conquests on blast. She is definitely no role model!!

And in the previews her "mentor" is lecturing her on lying. I think Karrine is the one lying. That's like lecturing your kids on cursing but still cursing in front of them. I think Tracey Lords would have been a better role model. She was in porn films but now is a mainstream actress.

Can't agree with you on this one...Tracy and Karrine are on the same level. Tracy is no more respected in the industry than Karrine. Both are still looked down upon, even though they've left the "life".Was Karrine brought in as a mentor or was she simply brought in to help Christina realize that it is possible to change? I don't believe I heard the word mentor used by a LC. I do believe that Christina gave Karrine that title. Karrine isn't a good mentor because she still has alot of work to do, in her own life. After reading that book and some of her interviews it is still obvious that her growth is marginal. She left the "life" and written a book, but hasn't seeked counseling to work through what drove her there. Cause Karrine hasn't dropped her hustle, not yet.

Karrine, like Christina, was selected to draw in a certain audience - the young, stay-at-home unemployed or going to college kids who watch Jerry Springer and Judge Judy. That's why the soaps have put on younger stars with more contemporary problems -- to engage the younger market that is staying at home.I am sure Karrine was picked to appeal to a crowd that would recognize her; the SO staff downplayed who she was, hoping the older viewing crowd wouldn't find out the entire background (note her book cover was not shown on the show, neither was her full name given in a cutline under her video etc...) They are shopping the show out to a more "hip" and younger crowd. JMO
