I'll make this short and sweet, but my friend informed me this afternoon that Survivor will be having an NYC casting call January 14th at the Adventures in Travel Expo at the Javits Center... 10AM-12PM... i know i'll be there. anybody ever gone to one before?

Welcome to the boards and good luck in your quest.I myself have tried out for survivor at an open casting call in LA.
This was back for Survivor3 though. I'm sure the crowds of survivor hopefuls have doubled since then.
It obviously didn't turn out to well for me, as I haven't been on survivor.
One thing I took from it though was that you need to concentrate on being relaxed and more importantly being yourself.
It also helps if you are a "character" to start with. When you're done with the Audition you should come back and post a description of your experience.
A lot of posters, like yourself, like to hear about others experiences.
I especially like your signame. Mmmm aged singlemalt.
