I am curious as to what sort of revelations you guys think would be a cop-out. What explanations for the many mysteries would leave you feeling cheated? A J Slice siggy

I would be very disappointed if it turned out there was only one survivor that was imagining the whole thing, all the people, ect. I am also not sure how I would feel about the Purgatory theory, it just doesn't sit well with me. *Courtesy of IceCat*

I'd be upset if it was all just some 'mad scientist' doing experiments with animals and/or robots (the monster). And the theory of a solar flare disrupting communications doesn't thrill me either. In the end, I'd be disappointed if they just got rescued and went their separate ways without some mystery following them home. It would be somewhat interesting to have something strange happen if/when they do get back home. I've thought it would be great if they found out they switched identities somehow in the crash i.e. Jack is really Sawyer or Locke, Kate could be Shannon in reality. Imagine the final show - all their families are there to greet them when they return home. Jack's mom rushes over to Sawyer hugging him and calling him Jack. Shannon's parents call her name but hug and embrace Kate, etc. Just a cliff hanger final episode, no explanations, just the confusion and cut to the credits. We could be debating this for years to come.

I would be disappointed to find out a planeload of zoo animals crashed onto the island. I think this theory is totally ridiculous and would be a total letdown.

9. "ANSWERS instead of QUESTIONS please...." |
I was gonna start a new thread, but figured this might work here.....Am I the only one who thinks it might be nice if they actually resolved even ONE outstanding question or issue on this show, instead of raising 400 more each episode? So far we have been left hanging with the following (just a sample): 1) the monster thing 2) the Korean guys background 3) the French woman 4) Who is Ethan? and why did he kidnap Claire? 5) What did Charlie find out from Ethan? 6) What's up with Claire's baby? 7) The metal door that Locke and Boone found out in the jungle 8) How did Locke regain the use of his legs? 8) What's up with the polar bear? and as of last night.... 1) Why is the tide moving in so quickly? 2) What the heck is so important about Kate's little airplane? I don't mind suspense, but I just don't get the strategy of leaving SO MANY loose ends. My fear is that everything is gonna be tied together somehow, and will result in a momentous let-down in the end. Half man, half amazing, all DAW

10. "RE: ANSWERS instead of QUESTIONS please...." |
I thought the samething after lastnight's show. I like suspense too but I would rather not be hit over the head in one episode with all answers. Even if all the questions we have are related...start with some of the unraveling slowly. Give us some bait as to what is behind one of the questions please. I think I will start losing interest soon if there isn't some type of explanation as to some of the questions. I don't understand why Claire was barely even mentioned in lastnight's episode. Why were we not shown something as a teaser to her location? It is getting frustrating for me.

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing last night. I was very disappointed in this episode. Why are they adding more puzzling information? How many more episodes are left? Are they just trying to drag us into a second season?

24. "Thought on last night #1" |
I had a strange thought: What if it is the island itself that is moving? Maybe it was next to North Pole at some point and picked up polar bears? Maybe it travels and is able to remin uncharted and those that it picks up could have been picked up from all over the earth's oceans. One more of J Slice's Awesome Creations!

today i was thinking that maybe there is something going on akin to the Sphere, where the islanders' fears are materialized. shannon created the french lady (as she was supressing her worst fear of being stranded). polar bear could be someone else's. and maybe the unknown beast is the accumulation of them all. don't know where ethan would come from then...oh, and that's only for people consumed by fear. it can also work the other direction, i.e. locke's ability to walk. just brainstorming here.

Good thoughts and glad you are here now!Could explain why it seems like so many times characters are asking another "Did you hear that?" or "Did you see that?". Maybe whoever's "fear" is being represented at the time is more in tune with it(obviously) but the larger it gets the more other people begin to notice it also. I think most of the fun of this show is using your imagination and speculating wild theories. In no way could the end possibly live up to anything we have here and I am fine with that. As you said below, it is the journey. One more of J Slice's Awesome Creations!

in the name thread i was reminded by someone's post about how walt was reading a comic book with a polar bear...oh, and i was always interested in the scene where locke helped charlie 'find' his guitar. locke had recently said something to someone about how the island was 'magic'. in the guitar scene, i don't recall locke looking up before he told charlie to do so. did he know it was there and they just 'happened' to be underneath it, or did locke tell him that with the faith it would appear above???

17. "a lack of logic" |
With a novel/exciting story, almost any end to it is going to be anticlimactic. At least to me, the best part of the show is the trip, not the destination. It will be nice to know what is really going on though. The only thing that would be a real letdown for me is if they do something stoopid. I hope they have it all planned out already, otherwise it is going to be near impossible to explain everything they’ve thrown at us. If the ending only answers half the questions well, but leaves logical contradictions they hope we’ll look past, that will upset me. Handcrafted by RollDdiceand yes, i know i'm not in OT...but don't stare, i'm nervous enough.

now that you mention it, i think the longer the show lasts the more difficult it will be so have a satisfying ending. can anyone recall a cult hit that ended well? x-files, twin peaks, even seifeld couldn't pull it off! Handcrafted by RollDdicehmm, i dunno augie. you like that spunky guy, which means i could indirectly catch his heebie jeebies from you.

I wouldn't compare the X-files to Lost. I think the Lost people have much more of a plan. Recall how the X-files began, and how it adjusted to its popularity. I firmly believe they were more or less making it up as they went along, and the whole alien conspiracy theory plot got more and more convoluted, because they were just so -proud- of themselves, and how many twists and turns they could throw. BAH, I say. I'm a little bitter about the X-Files. I only actually enjoyed it, though I watched it from beginning to end (until Mulder disappeared, thanks to real life contractual disputes) when they were doing episodes like Small Potatoes and The Great Mutatto. Lost seems to be much more planned, to me. You can see a cohesiveness in each episode, and they way the episodes themselves are formed-- these are writers who know how to plan, and bring twists together in the end. A J Slice siggy
