It isn't the cheapest way to get rid of termites, but it does the job well and is environmentally conscious. Have your friend look for a Sentricon Authorized Operator (not every pest control firm sells Sentricon).   Top

There were 3 units to the building; one was selling & found termites. The entire building had to be treated. You move out for a couple of days; pets & plants & aquarium too. Everything inside the tent dies. Our 1/3 portion was about $800.   Top

"RE: Termites" Tenting is typically done for drywood termites, which are uncommon in most parts of the country but are found in Puffy's neighborhood, southern California. Most structural termite infestations are subterranean termites which come from colonies in the ground near the building. Tenting a structure will only eliminate termites physically inside the structure, not the rest of the colony, and subterranean termites will just come back, while drywood termites have localized colonies and fumigation will eliminate them entirely. A knowledgable pest control operator will know the difference between subterranean and drywood termites and be able to recommend the correct treatment technique. If tenting is needed, I recommend Vikane or ProFume for the fumigation.   Top

No fumigation necessary because they were only in two rooms. They drilled tiny holes in the walls around the windows where there was infestation and they injected a foam to kill the termites. That was for drywood termites. They drilled holes in the slab near waterpipes and injected a poison to kill subterranean termites. Then they injected the subterranean termite poison in the dirt outside all around the foundation. Then they installed 21 monitoring stations in the ground around the house which will be checked 4 times a year. Nothing smells like poison. There's no danger to humans or animals. I'll let you know if my hair turns green and if I grow an extra eye and a tail. Courtesy of the Cap'n   Top
