PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.
As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

"Bushy aphorisms." |
"These are challenging times, and they’re difficult times, and they’re straining the psyche of our country. Nobody wants to turn on their TV on a daily basis and see havoc wrought by terrorists."I don't think that's what's straining the psyche of this country, Mr. President. Or maybe it's just that it's not totally clear which group is the terrorists, and we don't feel comfortable with that finger possibly pointed at US. Handcrafted by RollDdice And now he's calling the opposition "the Democrat Party." Suddenly and consistently. But it's not intended as a slight. Oh no. Of course not.

LAST EDITED ON 08-22-06 AT 09:40 AM (EST)And honestly? If he really wanted to protect us from the terrorists, why aren't we focusing our resources on them? Not even his own generals are still trying to characterize what is happening in Iraq as terrorism. It's a homegrown insurgency and religious factionalism that is creating a civil war there. Foreign groups are, at this point, not the problem. He's gotta quit beating this tired horse. Nobody's falling for it except those who are addicted to the Kool Aid. Edited to insert the right word. Duh.

>And honestly? If he really >wanted to protect us from >the terrorists, why aren't we >focusing our resources on them? I'm open to suggestions as to how to stop terrorists like these ones. Good thing their homemade timers didn't work. And people deliberately targeting and killing civilians is terrorism, no matter whether it's in the context of a civil or sectarian war or not.

Well, then, I guess we're terrorists.I've never made that claim (unlike the claim by many here who would like to say that we liberals say it all the time), but under this definition I'd say we qualify.

AyaK's definition of terrorism:"people deliberately targeting and killing civilians is terrorism, no matter whether it's in the context of a civil or sectarian war or not." There is more than one documented incident of this happening under U.S. military command. And not just in the current conflict in Iraq.

LAST EDITED ON 08-22-06 AT 01:55 PM (EST)Anyone else see a certain amount of irony in this one? "If we ever give up the desire to help people who want to live in a free society, we will have lost our soul as a nation," Bush said. As for the "Democrat Party" remarks, apparently "democracy" is only for those we invade (or who have plenty of oil). ETA: or those who vote in the people this admin wants as opposed to those the people the want. A tribephyl original

There was one in the paper today -- not an exact quote because I'm doing it from memory, but it was along the lines of 'When a nation stops caring about what freedom-loving people want, that nation has lost its heart.'So it's official. America has lost its heart. (We count, right?)

My favorite was "We are doing really well with foreign trading. More and more of our imports are coming from overseas."Or, "I would like to live in a dictatorship, as long as I keep getting to be the dictator." Yes, Bush really did say BOTH.
