"Common themes in the HG's lives"
Has anyone noticed that there seems to be some major common themes among the HG's? I've wondered if that is what is causing them to push away from each other (they see themselves in each other)?

Here are some themes I see - (add your own)

Lack of a good/present father figure - Allison, Christina, Jill and even to a certain extent Jessica (father is not emotionally involved in her life).

Addictions - Jill to food and smoking, TJ to smoking, Jessica to smoking, Allison to drinking.

Inability to be appropriate (thinking verbal) in relationships - Lisa, TJ, Jill, Christina, and yes, even Allison.

Each women also masks low self esteem and lack of self worth.

Allison puts on the sunny face but she is miserable on the inside. She is sweetly sarcastic.

Jill tries to cover up her feelings of inadequacy by being brash, biting sarcasm, and having it together.

Lisa is clueless. She is so co-dependent on her family she will probably have the hardest time becoming independent.

Christina has definitely learned how to hustle and manipulate people to get her needs met. Being so young and obviously not getting the guidance young women need today she doesn't have at this point many of the tools to successfully navigate relationships.

Jessica seems like she is denial. Things were probably going on in her relationship with her mother and the rest of her family that Jessica is not yet ready to deal with. The meeting with her sister yesterday seemed very uncomfortable for both of them. Interestingly enough when her family came in the front door she didn't even speak to her brother-in-law which seemed really odd as well.

TJ tries too hard and gets herself twisted even tighter in the process. Sort of like chinese handcuffs that get tighter the more you resist. If no one ever helped TJ with the dyslexia and ADHD before then she has a lot learning to do as she incorporates new behaviors and new ways to problem solve. Also medicine doesn't help everyone. Most people are very ignorant of ADHD and the problems it causes. They don't realize it a neuro-chemical imbalance in the brain. They just attribute it to laziness, etc.

My 8 year has ADHD and her behavior makes it difficult for her to keep friends and she often ACTS before she thinks. My next step is having her tested for any other learning disabilities as well. She also gets frustrated very easily and her brain seems to shut down as well so I see of lot my girl in her.

That's what I don't understand......the show, as in other cases, have not sent TJ to a specialist to see how deep her ADHD is.

I like TJ but feel the show is doing a diservice to its viewers in not explaining more about ADHD. And I am tired of TJ having to be accuntable to each lady there for what she says yet Lisa (who is just a plain ole spoiled brat) does not for her words.

The seem to be concentrating on jessica, whch i feel her problem isn't that her Mom died publically, but that jessica was estranged from her Mom but the show is exploiting the 9/11 side of it.

As for Alison and her cancer, am really tired of the show exploiting that also. Alison, did not get cancer til she was 36 (?) yet til then she hadn't married or bore a child.....cancr did not cause her problems, they were there before cancer.

Once again, the show and LC's have their favorites and TJ isn't one of them...what a shame......the show could have explained so much to the viewers regarding ADHD....

The common theme among most of these ladies is they have NO compassion......they accpet TJ being there for them but yet bash her at the first chance they get.

I feel all except for TJ and Jill deserve another C. What ahppened to being supportive and accountable for ones own actions?

I feel the same way you do AshLaine ,They sent Hailey from season 1 to a specialist, they should send Tj too, instead of playing russian roulette with her well being, the life coaches can help set goals and meet them but they are no specialists to deal with problems that have to do with the brain or serious disabilities.
