LAST EDITED ON 12-12-06 AT 10:03 PM (EST) 60 Minutes?...And no, I'm not complaining about the 60 Minutes news program that delayed my TAR programming. I'm talking about how rushed the finale seemed this year. Overall, I felt like we missed out on a lot of moments that probably happened during the race. Overall, the models Tyler & James beat out Rob & Kimberly to the finish line, winning a million dollars. Hopefully they won't use the money to buy drugs. Week 13 Results 1st place - Tyler/James (2.2x) 2nd place - Rob/Kimberly (even) 3rd place - Lyn/Karlyn (0x) Bonus Game? More like "Free Money"The Bonus Game must've been way too easy. Considering how obsessed Rob was to win the million bucks, coupled with them getting the first confessionals, it was pretty obvious that Rob/Kimberly were going to say "million" first. It was so easy that not a single person missed the bonus who tried. The final Perfect Bet Award goes to none other than Jims02 (2.94x), who bet almost his (my?) whole bankroll on the bonus game and hit it. Good job, me.The final Greatest Gainer Award is a big old honking tie. Congratulations to Neobie, louislam, tvgeek401, and Jims02, who each moved up 6 spots in this final week. The final results? You want to know? Really? Really really? Can't we just say that we're all winners in life? No? Fine. Leaderboard 1. bighair - 16665 2. Wallflower66 - 3325 3. KwietOne - 2035 4. Yogi - 1692 5. To put it into perspective, that's like doubling-up his initial 20 points nine or ten times. That's amazing! She started out #3 after the first week, and hung around the Top 10 for 11 out of 12 of the scoring periods. Way to go, bighair. You did it! You now join the TAR Casino Game Hall of Fame Previous Casino Game Champions TAR5 Casino Game - zombiebaby TAR6 Casino Game - VA Slim TAR7 Casino Game - esquire TAR8 Casino Game - Neobie TAR9 Casino Game - Neobie TARX Casino Game - bighair Finishing in 2nd place and earning the Silver Medal is Wallflower666, who had a very strong showing throughout the game. Wallflower was a regular Top-10er as well, finished #3 six times in a row. The 3rd place Bronze Medal goes to KwietOne, who didn't rise to the scene until two weeks ago. Talk about peaking at the right time, huh? Congratulations! Every year, I award a gameplay award to player(s) who performed particularly well throughout the season, but ultimately fell short. This season's gameplay award will be therefore called the Dustin/Kandice Gameplay Award and it goes to Yogi, who nabbed the #1 spot on four different occasions. For awhile, he and bighair were simply trading it back and forth, much like Dustin/Kandice and James/Tyler on the race. Like the girls, Yogi ended up in 4th place, but he played an amazing game and deserves special recognition. Despite how lopsided the scoreboard looked at times, we had 29 players crack the Top 10 this year. That's pretty impressive, you guys. That's about half of the total players who ended up in the Top 10 at one time or another. Closing WordsIf you let me, I'd keep jabbering for ten more paragraphs. I really wish I had more time to acknowledge every single persons' performance individually... But I feel like it's the Oscars and the music has started to play, so I should be brief. Or they'll cut to commercial. I say this every year, but it's true. While I make the Payout Tables and Bonuses, it's all of you who keeps the game running. Without the many players who sign up each year, there would be no game. So thanks to everyone who played. I mean it. Heck, thanks to everyone who watched the game via lurking. Every year, I keep half-expecting the bubble to burst and only 12 players show up, but you guys keep returning. Even if there were only 12 players, the game would still be on, but it's extremely humbling to have so much support for the game. I really appreciate it. Next season will be TAR All-Stars, so I hope you'll all be back to play the Casino All-Stars game next year. Feedback = GoodIn the interests of improving the game, please give me as many petty complaints comments as possible. If there's something you think I can improve on, please say it here. Specifically, I hope you could address some of these parts... 1. The No-Limit format. What do you think of it? I sense a lot of "No-Limit burnout" from a lot of players. (I've mentioned already that I want to use a progressive limit format next year, but if I hear a convincing argument for No-Limit, I'll definitely consider it.) 2. The Loser Bonuses. This was the new concept to the game this year. Did you like them? Did their presence affect your wagering, or make decisions harder at all? (Personally, I kinda liked them, as they gave a small incentive to bet on the lowly teams.) 3. Bonus Games. Which did you like/dislike? Getting tired of any of them? (I liked the Loan Bonus game, particularly, although I was a bit miffed that it got screwed up during the Superleg. With better timing, this is a better idea.) Anyway, that's enough babbling from me. Let's party! 25th place... 100 points. I like nice round numbers.

Hey, nice job. This was my first time playing and I really enjoyed it, so you can bet I'll be back next time. Unfortunately, I was knocked out earlier, betting all in on the boys, funny as that sounds.Just to offer some input: - I'm in favor of a limited format. No offense to this year's winner, but I think that many points is outrageous, and with limits, it can still be anyone's game. Again, using this year's winner as an example: this person was so far ahead of the second place person, that the first place person could've gone several weeks without even betting and the second place person would still not have a chance. I like the limit format, because, much like the idea of the race itself, almost anyone can come back and win it.
- I liked the loser bonuses too. I did actually place bets placed on these a couple of times, and did manage to benefit. This is what I was trying to bank on when I went all in on the boys when they were receiving a loser bonus. I agree that it gives incentive to not just bet on the top teams, but consider more factors when betting.
- The bonus games were great. I liked a lot of them. All I can say is I like new things, so if you could come up with new ones, that would be great, but lacking creativity, I can't really help you there, so I'll appreciate what you can come up with.
- Perhaps you could add a recurring superleg bet. On every single leg, you could have the option to set a small number number of points aside to bet on if it's a superleg or not. Not a large amount (unless you think it should be) but it would be a gamble each time.
- Maybe a non-elimination bet. Similar to the superleg bet, a recurring bet each week as to whether it will be a non-elimination leg. In addition, what team will be non-eliminated could even be added. Again, another type of gamble that might pay off for some. (I work in retail, we always find ways to nickle and dime people with add-ons, lol)
Just thought I'd give you some ideas. Feel free to use any or none. Either way, I enjoy playing the game and will certainly be back next season. Oh wait, next season is all-stars <shudder>...I'll get back to you on that...

LAST EDITED ON 12-12-06 AT 01:03 AM (EST)KEWL!!! Whew! ARNutz: Thanks for betting on Lyn/Karlyn! That pretty much propelled me into the Top 3! JIMS: As always, you run a great game. I love playing this game. It only enhances my viewing of TAR. Everyone else: Good game! Limit or no-limit? Either is fine. Award more points for the Perfect Bet Award and/or moving up the most places or moving down the most places. More "sucker" bets! 9 total for example "Word of the day" bet "ugly American" bet "the crying male/female" bet or "ignorant racist comment" bet. How about a keno-style bet for the competing teams and/or the Top 5 leaderboard for this game? If you can correctly guess all the odd-numbered or the even-numbered teams, or correctly guess the correct order of teams. Have a recurring bonus "sucker" bet on NEL's and Super Legs. Talk about how the house always wins... EP: Almost like craps. How about you choose 7 or 11, and you automatically win some points? If you pick 6 or 8, you get points. If your bet on multiple teams finishes in alphabetical order, you're awarded or penalized points. Ok....um, I better stop.
Got tribe? Are you on the list?

LAST EDITED ON 12-15-06 AT 11:05 AM (EST)Only somewhat disgusted? You are a better man than I (OK, some I am not technically a man, but you get the picture). I absolutely loved the game, I would like to see a limit on the bets tho' (I would probably feel differently if I did as well as Bighair). I liked all the suggestions so far. I wonder how many times would you have to view the episode to calculate points. Another suggestion for a bonus Mr. McFeely points. Do any of the teams touch or hug Phil at the pitstop? Does Phil appear to enjoy it? and/or Does Phil appear with a male or female cultural representative at the PitStop? I've been Tribed! And I liked it!

Thanks for running the game Jims. It really is quite fun.The only change I would suggest is that your weekly posts include a list in over-sized font of those who have been eliminated from the game. That way I would be better able to remember that I had once been in the game. One day I will make it to the end!

Thanks for hosting the game, Jims. I think the format is fine. I suspect next year there won't be a dominant team, so unless someone has some good spoilers the totals should be more down to earth.Perhaps you could add a "first person to place their bet" bonus. Just in case such a bonus exists, here goes for episode one: 10 points Colin/Christie 10 points John Vito/Jill.

I really enjoyed the casino. It always adds to the fun of the race. In fact, even when the race is dull, the bets keep our interest. You should ask for a cut from CBS!Can I boast that "I beat 2 times Champion Neobie!" I'll keep quiet about finishing 15000 behind BigHair 1- I don't mind the No-limit, do what you think is best. 2- The loser bonus were fun. 3- Bonus games are good! Here's one maybe to do at the start: Name a team that will finish higher than in their original season and one that does worse. We get points according to how many spots they improve or lose. Now where do I cash in my 1000 bucks?

WOO-HOO!!Congrats to Wallflower66 and KwietOne for finishing in the medals! Thank You, Jims, for being such a great host (I gotta say - this has been my favorite season yet ) Feedback: 1. I like the no-limit format - I feel like there is more freedom for movement, both up and down. 2. I also liked the Loser Bonus, and there actually were a couple of weeks that it influenced my bet 3. As for the Bonus Games - I like them, and there were few that I didn't see this season that I missed: the "Last Shall Be First", the one where we find mistakes in the original post, and the hidden bonus. Hope to see everyone next season! Psst...I'm a she, not a he

18. cahaya - 271Wow, hey, finished a respectable 18th, just a couple behind Nutz! Thanks a lot for running the casino, Jims, it's fun! And in return, some feedback you asked for, too. 1. I'm ok either way with no-limits. I can see where you're coming from about point scales, but all-or-nothing bets are fun to try once in a while, so there's the possibility of having a mix, with a few or several "no limit" weeks during the season. 2. I like the Loser Bonus idea, and it paid off for some folks here, although I was too chicken to try it out. 3. The Bonus Games are great! I did like the loan one, which enabled me to get back up a bunch of places with the top 20. Risky, yeah, but fun to play if you think the odds are more in your favor. You come up with lots of really good ideas, so I say mix your classic Bonus Games along with some new ones, too. It's the new stuff that makes it a lot of fun, not knowing what's coming up next week. Thanks again, Jims! A wonderful sig-gift from Nutz. Party!

It hardly feels like second place when I'm beat by over 13,000 points, but I'm still thrilled to receive the silver medal in the game. The only suggestion I might have would be to have a reward for early betters. If you make your picks before a certain deadline and without editing you get a certain # of points. LAST EDITED ON 12-13-06 AT 01:20 PM (EST)*sigh* I will never listen to Phil again when he tells us constantly throughout the season, "first woman team to win TAR". Ugh! Thanks so much for running this game again! It is my favorite game on the boards! Feedback: 1. No limit was no good in the end. bighair was clearly going to be the winner, but if you snuck in a couple of weeks here and there where our bets could be unlimited, that would be cool! 2. Loved the loser bonuses! They helped me a time or two druing the season. 3. The bonus games this season were great! I vote to keep them similar. I vote that you never, ever have any of those secret code (those ones using MSPaint or whatever it was) bonuses like last time ever again!

JIMS -- Thanks for running the most enjoyable game yet again. Thre's no question that I look forward to making my weekly bet with you. But then again, I have no live so ... Congrats to bighair for running away with the game. This is my third season playing the casino and my first top 10 finish, so I'll be looking to do even better with the all-stars. Run, Romber, run. I prefer a progressive limit game. Might keep someone from running away with it, but hey, it will keep the rest of us interested in the results. I paid attention to the loser bonuses the first couple of weeks and it actually effected how I bet then. But after that, once I knew the teams better, I just bet on the teams I felt good about, and it didn't matter if they had loser bonus or not. Bonus games -- I always like the games that you make us hunt for the clues, etc. See you in February.

Thanks for hosting this, Jims. I'm a total game newbie and didn't even really lurk in previous seasons. Thanks to you I tried this one and Mutiny on Survivor (brought to us via Fetcher/Tribe). I had great fun on both of them. Great introduction to the RTVW games. Don't know enough about it to say much as far as suggestions go, but I really did lvoe the Loser's Bonus. It made a major difference in the chances I was willing to take. And, even though it didn't do me much good, the Loan round was one of my favorites. It made me think I had a chance to take a stride out of the lowest ranks, at least. Thanks again. Looking forward to next season already. A Tribal Christmas blogging's scary

I love the game, and I zilched out way too quickly this time around. I found that I wasn't quite as interested in the show when I didn't have some action on it. I was thinking that if there were betting limits, I wouldn't have lost it all, but I could have just bet more carefully. That would always work. I'm ok with keeping it "no limit", although it is probably better overall if it stays competitive. Loser bonus is a good addition. Just like having a line in sports betting, it can help spread the money around, which makes things more interesting. I like the bonus games. Some people have been making a lot of suggestions for more bonuses. There are a lot of good ideas, but I'd prefer not to see too many extra bonus games added. Keep it simple with just one or maybe(?) two each week. Puzzles like disappearing ink or whatever you've done in the past are fun, but I'd rather have bonus games that are some kind of straightforward risk. I like the bonuses that involve other bettors, like "pick one of these three boxes" to see which is the least widely-chosen or betting on who will be the biggest gainer. It's fun to take the betting a little outside the show. I'll definitely be back for all stars, even if I'm not excited about having all stars.
