There has been some speculation on Swami's Out-rigger canoes v. swimming ashore thresd about the Survivor Marquesas poster that krautboy came across (below). In the poster there is a picture that shows a little rubber raft reflected in the shades of the guy pictured.A blown up version of the little rubber boat that IceCat made is below.
Now there was some discussion on this in that thread, but rather than have it get lost with the other discussions, I thought it might be useful to start it's own thresd. For starters there are two main options for what we are seeing here. One is that is comes from the show itself and would therefore have a certain amount of spoiler value, OR that it was completely fabricated for use in this ad. For sake of argument I am assuming that it is not just a promotional pic, and that sometime in the future we will see where this was taken and what it involves.
Ok so if it is from the show, the first speculation is that perhaps we are seeing the arrival of the survivors to the island. A lot of the speculation on Swami's thread actually focused on this possibility, and that was the reason it was first posted on that thresd to begin with. I don't think that is what it is though. Primarily because there are not enough people on the boat. Now granted there might be someone behind someone else, but two someone’s seems a bit of a stretch to me, and since the only thing for sure is there are 6 people clearly shown I tend to believe that this is not the arrival (which does not mean they don't arrive in rubber boats, just that this in not the picture of them doing it).
Ok the next big task is to determine who these people are and what they are doing if it is not arrival. To make this a little bit easier I have blown up the small raft picture a bit more and labeled the 6 clearly visible contestants for discussion purposes (A-F) below.
Ok now lets look at each individual person.
Person "A" - appears to be male, wearing a dark blue-black shirt, with a buff around his neck, and a possible baseball hat turned backwards on his head (back part of the bill visible behind head and raised oar of person "C"). Also could have right leg in the water for some reason.
Person "B" - gender unknown, but may be wearing yellowish buff around head. Also appears to be wearing something orangish-red that resembles a life jacket.
Person "C" - appears to be female, wearing a blue swimsuit or bikini top. Holding oar up and looking back perhaps at contestant "D" or perhaps something out of view like another boat. Could be wearing a buff around head, although the color is off if the same as the buff person "B" is wearing. Another buff option is on the exposed wrist.
Person "D" - gender unclear, but could be African American due to relative darkness of the exposed skin as compared to others depicted in the boat. Holding up oar above head in a somewhat celebratory manner? Appears to have a buff similar to color of person "B" on right arm. May also be wearing a orangish red life preserver.
Person "E" - gender unclear, wearing a blue shirt, and floppy brown hat. Appears to have the orangish-red life preserver on as well and a buff on the left wrist area.
Person "F" - mostly obscured, although looks to have a life vest as well.
From this I draw the following conclusions. This is likely not arrival because of the number of people. It is likely a challenge shot due to the buff's and person "D"'s celebratory stance. The tribe is Maraamu because the prevalent coloring on the buff is their yellowish-green color. Person "A" is likely Rob, Person "D" is likely Sean or V, and Person "E" is likely Patricia, due to clothing matches and general body descriptions. Person "C" I can't figure out as she looks more like a Rotu girl say Zoe or Tammy than Gina or Sarah, but that won't match up unless this is a post "swap" challenge (which it could well be given 6 people). Also on that same line of reasoning if it is post swap "E" could be Paschal.
What do you think?
