"Today's Ohio Peep Meet" |
Well, Sur_Bear went to meet Bruiser, Minnie, and Kathliam today. I have been waiting for Kath to start a thresd about it, but I got impatient. So here is a tale of another leg of the Bananapalooza Tour. What Bruiser and Minnie did before they got to the Red Robin Gourmet Restaurant, we may never know. However, she recognized me right away. She is quite a talker and within minutes we were gabbing like old friends. A few minutes later Kath showed up and joined in like we had known each other forever. The food was fantastic and I was sucking down "freckled lemonades" like there was no tomorrow. We said our next meeting should include a live web cam and we should have confessionals about how we really felt about each other. Jen had brought her daughter and I had brought one of mine. They quickly grew bored and decided to drop several hundred dollars in the little crane game, eventually coming away with three stuffed animals. They kept coming back for more money, saying they were "so close" to getting another one. We talked about how we came to Reality TV World. We talked about OT and everyone that hangs out here (yes, we talked about you too). We talked about our families and our busy schedules. We talked about our favorite shows. We talked about deep-end thresds and shallow-end thresds and everything in between. Let's face it, the three of us can talk. We examined all the great names on Bruiser and talked about How strange it is that we feel so close to people we have never met face to face. All too soon the girls were bored and we had to go. Minnie made us promise, though, that we would have to meet up again. It was a blast and the only thing that could have made it better would be if some of The Others (gratuitious Lost reference) could have joined us. Thank you again Jen and Kath! I had a great time.

Ok, so I’m a little socially awkward. Not comfortable in settings with peeps with whom I am unfamiliar. It really takes a swift kick in the behind to get me out of the house. So what am I thinking, agreeing to meet IRL strangers, in public?So, I arrive at the pre-arranged meeting place. Problem? I’m not sure who I’m meeting. Try explaining that to an otherwise clueless 19-year old. ‘I’m looking for someone with a big yellow banana’. Yea, they’ll cut me off before I walk in the door. Hesitantly, I approach a group, sans banana, one of whom looks vaguely familiar. ‘Are you Minnie? Are you SB”? Thus began are lovely afternoon that marked my expulsion from MOPS. Yes, Kathliam finally left the safety of her abode and ventured out into the world of the living and actually met with OT peeps. After all, I’ve known these guys forever. Too late, I realized I neglected to bring my laptop and could not provide a Live Update Thread (that neglect will be corrected in the future). I, however, didn’t have the presence of mind to make notes on bar naps, so no incriminating evidence exists. We have a lovely afternoon. Talked about all (most) of you. Talked about ourselves. I am still a relative newbie and they filled me on some things. It was wonderful meeting Minnie and SB, and their girls, too. We missed those of you who could not join us. We talked about ordering a box of wine, unfortunately the wait staff could not accommodate our request. Next time, Knockers, we will plan ahead. I’m always up for a party!

LAST EDITED ON 06-06-05 AT 09:08 AM (EST)Finally checking in!! It was a wonderful afternoon and I recognized our Sbear right away!! SB is correct, I talk a lot, and often!! I hope I did not scare him to death!! He is a very sweet man with a lovely little girl who entertained my daughter the whole afternoon. My DD blew all of her birthday money on that little crane machine but had a ball doing it! It was so great to finally meet Barry in person. Do not believe Kath, she is absolutly NOT socially awkward and we hit it off like we had known eachother forever! Kath and I live close to eachother so I hope we can get together again soon!! I am sure Minnie can drag her butt out for a drink or two! We had a good laugh about Kath not bringing the lap top so we could give live updates which would have been pretty funny. Then SB stated we needed a live webcam so we could have our confessionals! I believe this is a must for all future OT meets...um ok can you imagine what would have been exposed in DC??!! Well I guess you could since we had plenty of updates...*smiles* at those wild girls and HD! I am a bet tech challenged and I am the one who has pics of SB!! I attempted to get those on my puter yesterday but failed miserably! I will try again tonight. So sorry SB *smooches* My daughter had a ball with Bruiser and signed it as well. My hubby finally understood a bit about how crazy we are once he saw the banana and all the signatures. He realized I am not the only loon doing this! lol So sorry missed some of you others. But now that I am becoming a peep meet ho, I can't wait to plan the next meeting. I am thinking in the Fall when the summer stuff finally calms down a bit.
