"Wow, this show is even more DEAD than I thought!!!"

>
It's really sad when you have only 2 current posts to a new season! HA.

I've watched a few of the episodes, only because nothing else was on, and to try to keep count of when Hasselhoff is sober and when he is obviously not!

Boy, is THAT a tough one!! I can almost see why Piers is so grouchy all the time, between Sharon's fingernails-on-the-chalkboard-screetches, and Hasslehoffs' insanity. Well, it pretty much sums up the show, doesn't it??

I mean, who in their right mind is going to put through a 75 year old lady, who sings and disco dances to 'Last Dance'??? Yeah, Yeah, I know she was cute-well, maybe 40 years ago she could really burn up a stage, but now?? For a million dollars, in VEGAS?? Honey, paaaaleaaaase!

OK, that's my not-so-summary, summary. Since I haven't stuck around for much more than that, and the two guys who did some weird thing with their 'man boobs', I just can't' see where this show has any reason to take up ANYONE'S time, let alone my TV screen. Cowell-you REALLY missed the mark this time!!!

It's like Survivor, the real game doesn't really start until the season's pretty much half over. The try-outs rounds in these talent shows are always awful.

I still can't wrap my head around the wee ones auditioning with grown-ups. We're talking a million dollars for goodness sake. Interesting though.

Personally? I like it.
I really haven't noticed Hoff appearing drunk - certainly not like Paula Abdul! LOL If the story on his drinking problem and the one about the child custody had not been on tv recently, I don't think anyone would have even thought he was drunk at any time.

Some of the talent is really good.
Some are just on there to get their 15 sec (or 19 in this case I think) of fame - much like many who try out for SYTYCD and AI who CAN NOT dance or sing.
But the auditions make good tv - at least for a lot of viewers.
Some that I think are terrible - the judges like. Different tastes for all I guess.

OK, so this looks like the General Discussion Thread. Instead of starting another thread, I'm just going to post my comments here.

Leonid

I liked Leonid in the first season. He actually had a talent worth watching. This thing with the weird eyes and the girls on chains was a silly cabaret act. He can certainly keep trying, I guess. "The Hof" *eyeroll* called him "aggressive" when he stormed off in his little snit. I didn't see how he had been aggressive this time around. So I went back to zipperhead's summary from last season and failed to find where Leonid had been aggressive. What is his problem?

Big Beautiful Singers

I enjoyed their performance, mostly because I was concentrating on a tricky bit of knitting and didn't see them. I really dislike outfits like that: corsets and black lace.

Hand Guys

What was the guy in the hand costume there to do? Was he just for decoration? What are people ever even thinking?

Too Many Singers

I still don't care for singing acts, generally speaking.

Lazy Legz

I recognise that guy from an ad campaign about hiring people with disabilities.

Leonid, aggressive? Determined certainly, assertive even. Perhaps the Hassel was thinking of the particular performance he'd just mostly ignored with its dominant/submissive suggestiveness. I personally thought it was inappropriate for family viewing and not the least bit entertaining, a big letdown.

Glad the Big Girls got to advance to the Vegas rounds, they were marvelous. Their outfits were daring, which I presume was the point (going along with their song selection), and I do hope they step it up to classy in their next performance.

I missed whatever happened that caused the Hoff to walk out. Seems I always pick the wrong time to take a break or whatever. Well, he is a DAW, so what did we expect?

The illusionist that ended up with the duck was great! I liked the 'buxom beauties' too.

A lot of the acts they put thru will be sent packing quickly. Some have good talent & are worth seeing one more time, BUT not worth a million $.

Ha! See my post above for my own questions regarding The Hassel's issues.

I missed the illusionist. Was that the last hour? I had to tape it for DD, whose bedtime is 9pm.

10. "RE: Grandson/Grand-dad act"
The judges pretty much made it clear that the kid could continue but not the old guy. Now, tell me how THAT is going to work?? The old guy plays the piano and pretty much works as the wing man for the kid, so I guess they'll have to reinvent the wheel here, I dunno....

The kid WAS cute, but not ONE MILLION DOLLARS (pinky in side of my mouth) cute.

How about that rabbit?? How the heck does a rabbit know when to come up to a microphone and then step down? I can see food on the mic, but then to leave? That still has me baffled! And that was another case of: the rabbit can stay but you go. WHAT? How does THAT work??

The vivacious ladies-plus size, if you will, were good, but I don't get why they would WANT to flaunt being big, for the sake of, well, whatever. Piers stated that English men love 'curvacious' women. Guess I'll have to go to Great Britian to find a man if anything ever happens to my hubby, eh? They were quite harmonious, but I think they need new outfits. They reminded me of the saloon girls in the mining camps way back when.

Already remarked on Leonid, or whatever. BUT, what about Thoht?? WTHeck was HE about?? I mean anyone who can play a few chords on a violin can dress up like an American Indian, wear basically nada, and jump around and screetch, right? I dunno-what are 90% of these people thinking, anyway?

Is the American population that lame to think that we are so wonderful that our hands, our feet, our weirdness can fetch us a million bucks on a given day?? I say give the CW girl a few lessons, let the magician move on (since when do magicians ever win-oh, they're called illusionists these days, aren't they??), and let's call it a day.

I'm sure there are others, like chubby boy with guitar, and funny man with sax, and the black man comedian who was amazing-but I can't seem to remember anyone else at this point. It's been real, has it not??

Yeah, the kid was cute channeling Louis Armstrong's singing, but it seemed to me that was a one trick pony novelty act that should have gotten a "Thanks kid, keep practicing and come back next year." As it is, I won't be surprised if grampa still shows up and plays keyboard.

Loved the illusionist. And the teen wannabe country star was great even though it was obvious she has no formal training.

As for Thoth, I suppose it was worth seeing just for the chuckle about the invented language. I have a theory that some of the acts are aired by way of saying, "Oh, you thought Leonid (or whoever) shouldn't have gotten a pass, well just look what else we had show up." For that matter, Thoth was way better than SexyTeknoBoy.

LAST EDITED ON 07-04-07 AT 08:27 AM (EST)

I finally caught this show last night.

I really don't get it. Why are there singing acts on this? They make American Idol look good.

The 14 year old blond(e) girl who sings country? Can you say gen.er.ic.?

I do like the novelty acts as that is what I thought this was about. I did not like the kid and granfather though. I thought the grandfather was better than the kid.

Hasselhoff was completely drunk when he stormed off. He was slurring his words.

I liked Leonid(sp?).
Sanjaya could have done this so much better.

Look at me I got a Sweet Summer Syren Siggie!

The really annoying bit? Last night's ep was a repeat of last week's ep. Pfft.

I didn't like the grampa/kid act either. I am annoyed by singers, because, there are already shows for singers. I like the magicians and jugglers (basically the circus acts, I guess), but have to sit through the other stuff. DD likes it or I wouldn't watch at all, actually.
