Well, good luck to your picks! As I go through that list there are 7 acts I think are 10s on a scale of 1 to 10. And several that I think can bring their games up to 10. There are only two acts that I really don't believe have any chance at this level of competition.

LAST EDITED ON 08-19-11 AT 04:17 PM (EST)Some of them do have their work cut out for them, certainly, but I try to not count anyone out unless I think it's hopeless. Professor Splash, he can dress it up however he wants, jump through ten flaming hoops into a pickle barrel, it is basically just the same stunt. Steven Retchless, I applaud his effort to advance his artform, but there isn't much more he can bring to it and that's a problem. The seven 10s on my list: Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. Lys Agnes Miami All-Stars Sandau Trio Russian Bar (I'm putting them in 10 category because of the high degree in difficulty, no room for error, it has to be perfect every time) Silhouettes (They may have topped out with their patriotic performance but if they can keep re-creating the act they can stay on top) Snap Boogie Zuma Zuma

im not sure if ive ever seen so many acts go backwardsI dont think i could pick 5 to go on ive got iluminate Zumazuma beth ann daniel baker i really just couldnt pick a 5th that stood out from the crowd i thought poplyfe was averge but they really picked the wrong style for the song they did miami all star is just to crowded on the stage and their choreography is almost in the non existent category now. WSDT has new outfits and music each time but it just fells like the same routine over and over. how long can you watch zombie dancing? the 9 minute thriller video is pushing it and those are professionals for melissa villasenor i still maintain that if you have to tell people who youre imitating youre not good enough. Im still waiting on the great voice the judges keep insisting Kevin colis has. matt wilhelm basically did a worse version of the exact same act he did in the last round. lys anges tried to make her opera more relevant but she picked a song that is so good when sung by the original its hard to even match up. sandou trio was just painful to watch. what were they thinking?

Over-all a good show tonight though a bit of a mixed bag.01. Zuma Zuma. tumblers/acrobats. Enjoyable performance, not as daring or thrilling as the time before, but I still love these guys. 02. Beth Ann Robinson, interpretive dancer. Technically the best dancer in the competition, needs to work on making herself move more fluidly, more poetry of motion. That's a bridge she will cross at some point in her career, might as well start working on it now. 03. Sandou Trio Russian Bar, whu? X by Piers. That sound you just heard was a topnotch act crashing down to the basement. Fine, if you've taken Russian bar as far as you can, do something else, but make it something exciting and something you're good at. 04. Kevin Colis, singer. X by Piers. meh, just not a very strong singer. 05. Matt Wilhelm, blacklight bike stunts. Enjoyable performance, a show with a theme, one hitch and one fall, very unfortunate. On the plus side, he did conquer the visibility problem by wearing a different outfit. 06. Poplyfe, rock band. Bold song choice but it sounded like Beatles Lite to me, "Come Together" needs the raw edge and drive, good effort by the band. Acceptable on terms of being Beatles Lite. 07. West Springfield Dance Team, theatrical dance troupe. Good set, considering it was their third performance in three weeks I will forgive them that it really was a variation of the performance they gave two weeks ago. They may have a few tricks left to pull out of their bag, they may not. 08. Melissa Villasenor, impressionist/comedian. I thought it was funny but she still needs to work on her material, and if you're going to do Silverman you absolutely have to get the big idiotic grin down. That's Sarah's not-so-secret weapon, she can get away with almost anything as long as she has that big idiotic grin pasted on her face. 09. Team iLuminate, glowlight dance troupe. Very good set, liked the game theme, fun, they still need to work on the visibility problem far as I'm concerned. 10. Daniel Joseph Baker, singer. Great song, great singing, wonderful performer, so-so piano player. Bring on all the Liberace drag outfits you want, Joseph, but next time get an accompianist, concentrate on the singing. 11. Miami All Stars, dance troupe. Excellent!!! Couple of minor issues, nothing blatantly obvious, and really really fun. 12. Lys Agnes, singer. Wonderful singer, should have maybe pulled out a Celine Dion song instead but I really enjoyed her performance. The biggest problem is the sound of the orchestra was raised to match her strong singing voice, at times it was too much, in the future she just cannot allow that to happen ever again.

Zuma Zuma - Usually not a big fan of dancers/tumblers but I like them.Beth Ann Robinson – Baby Frank studied ballet for years and I’ve spent my share of time in ballet studios. She is spot on technically. The mirrors helped fill up the stage a little. Not really a Vegas act but in the top 5 for tonight. Sandou Trio Russian Bar – Really? Kevin Colis – A local boy so I want to like him but the performance was weak. True, three weeks ago he was performing in front of his camera and now on stage. The nerves were obvious. Matt Wilhelm – It was OK, I wasn’t wowed. Should be top 5 though. Poplyfe – I don’t like them, never have. The singer is ok, the band is NOT. That guitar “solo” at the end is a perfect example of why I don’t like them. Poseurs. West Springfield Dance Team – Three performances in three weeks is tough so I’ll give them that. But I think I’ve had enough of girls in weird contacts and makeup slithering across the floor. Melissa Villasenor – I like her, I really do. Would love to have a few beers with her. But the performance was not good. As has been stated already if you have to say who you are impersonating you’re not doing your job. I think she should impersonate Nick and the judges. That should really be easy, I think I could do it. But she won’t get another chance. Team iLuminate – Decent performance. Straddling the top 5. Daniel Joseph Baker – I don’t want to like him but I end every one of his performances saying “I liked that.” He’s a showman, not typically my cup of tea, but he is a lot of fun. Miami All Stars – Also a lot of fun. I enjoyed it. Top 5 for sure. Lys Agnes – A very good singer, I enjoyed her performance. I’d like to see her stretch out a little like break into AC/DC, Rush, Judas Priest, or something. I know, I’m weird. But a good performance. So my top 4 Zuma Zuma Miami All Stars Daniel Joseph Baker Lys Agnes Tied for 5th Matt Wilhelm Beth Ann Robinson

Im a brit watching AGT and was really interested in Lys as our winner Jai McDowall sang the same song in the semi final (and the same arrangement) and im afraid i was slightly disappointed as i think it really does suit a female vocalist; I have to say that i believe Jais version was far superior to Lys's (it was a good performance tho)i thought her top notes seemed a bit strained (i hear she was a bit ill) and her diction not great

Welcome, Lisa. I just have to say, I totally echo Piers with the Sandaou Russian Bar act. They may NOT have made it to the finale, but with that horrendous 'act' of whatever that was, they definitely called in a suicide performance!I have never seen anyone so close to the finale screw up SO badly!! The singing alone was unbelievably bad; the poor big guy who got to just 'stand' on the piano while it went upside down, and the curtain climbing bimbo? What were they thinking?? The look on the judges' faces were priceless, and that is the only thing about this act that made it worthwhile. I say, 'good-bye, goodnight, and adieu'. You called it, and boy, did you call it BAD.

Well, America voted, and made a few surprising decisions.Team iLuminate (09) got the good news first that they had made it to the top 10. Interesting act that has caught America's attention, I do understand the attraction, though it is actually impossible to judge their dancing skills. Poplyfe (06) then made it to the top 10, I guess they must be popular with the kids and pop music crowd. Lys Agnes (12) also got the good news, thank you America, she does have the strongest singing voice this season. Miami All Stars (11) rounded out the top four acts getting through on votes, the most traditional dance troupe remaining this season. Along the way we said good-bye to Zuma Zuma (01), Beth Ann Robinson (02), Sandau Trio Whu? (03), Kevin Colis (04), Matt Wilhelm (05) and Melissa Villasenor (08). That left the judges to decide between fifth and sixth place acts West Springfield Dance Team (07) and Daniel Joseph Baker (10). I thought for certain Daniel would get the nod, but Howie claiming it the year of the dance voted West Springfield and then Piers followed suit, sparing Sharon the need to break a tie. Rock band, theatrical dance troupe, glowlight dance troupe, traditional dance troupe, opera(style) singer. Hated saying good-bye to Zuma Zuma, ah well.

Can't say I'm very excited about next week's acts. This week had only two poor performances (and one of them was self-inflicted), but I predict next week will give us five or six duds and only two acts with a real chance to win the competition.Projected duds: Anna Graceman, Kinetic King, Landon Swank, Professor Splash, Steven Retchless, Summerwind Skippers May move on: Fatally Unique, Gymkana, Silhouettes, Smage Bros. Riding Shows Potential winners: Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Snap Boogie

In the spirit of the Sandou Trio’s bold entry into diversification, The Kinetic King is going to take a page from Professor Splash. He will set up a life-sized Mousetrap, dress as the diver in his old fashioned swimsuit, and dive into a tub of water while juggling and singing opera. Or so I hear

Well, I don't expect as good a show this week as last week, but I'll allow room for they may surprise me. This week the scheduled performers are:Anna Graceman, child singer/Alaskan. Fatally Unique, problem-plagued dance group. Gymkana, over-populated gymnastics group. The Kinetic King, kinetic artist/goofy guy. Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Vegas-style singer. Landon Swank, magician/illusionist/Alaskan. Professor Splash, world record holding high diver. Silhouettes, illusion dance troupe. Snap Boogie, dancer/contortionist. Smage Bros. Riding Shows, motorcycle stunts. Steve Retchless, pole dancer with a cause. Summerwind Skippers, jumprope team. There are two acts I think will certainly be sent home, two acts I think will certainly move on to the finals, and potential epic fails from the other eight acts. Honestly, I think poor Steven might have a better chance playing the piano upside down while singing badly. Anyway, several of our friends on the East Coast are without power, without communications, maybe even trapped in their homes and waiting on airlifts. So let's keep them in mind and vote doubly hard for them, and go the extra mile on this thread.

33. "RE: Semi 8/30/11" |
LAST EDITED ON 08-31-11 AT 03:16 PM (EST)Odd odd night, and Piers was pretty grumpy though that's not so odd. The two acts I thought were certain to move on did not have their best nights, the two acts I thought were certain to be sent home probably did have their best nights (but that might not save them anyway). 01. The Kinetic King, kinetic artist. His best one yet, I absolutely loved it! He still should think about developing himself as a performer, becoming part of his act. And let's face it, if he manages to win this thing a big chunck of that million will have to go to hiring an army of assistants he'll have to train so he can turn this into a real show. 02. Fatally Unique, dance troupe. Excellent! Nothing went wrong this time, high energy, and I loved how they swiped the dark angle from West Springfield and blew them away. 03. Landon Swank, magician. Good performance, style and flash, but I really was not impressed with the trick. 04. Gymkana. X by Piers. Fail. It was boring repetition even before the one guy hit the flaming hoop and brought the set to a crash finish. Would be a crime if they got through when Zuma Zuma got sent home. 05. Summerwind Skippers, jumprope squad. X by Piers. Fail. Too many mistakes, and not as well a thought out presentation (choreography) as last time. 06. Snap Boogie, dancer. Slow start, horrible choreography, would have been better without the extra dancers, who distracted from his actual performance. Enjoyable by himself, wish he'd broke out from the start. 07. Anna Graceman, singer. Love her, incredible voice, did better once she left the piano, but tonight the song was bigger than she could handle. 08. Steven Retchless, pole dancer. X by Piers, but he's hated Steven from the start. Did some interesting stuff tonight, his best set yet; the extra pole dancers didn't help but probably didn't hurt his chances either. I do understand why Piers is such a borish snob about Steven, pole dancing in general is not thought of artistically but as a form of sexual display, because that is what it mostly is used for. So-- Shout-Out to Steven Retchless! If you do somehow manage to make it to the next round do us all a favor, do your art a favor, and PUT ON SOME DAMN CLOTHES! 09. Smage Bros. Riding Shows, motorcycle stunts. Surprisingly, the best act of the night. Exciting, high energy, no fluffs. Not normally something I enjoy all that much but they nailed it tonight. 10. Professor Splash, high diver. Different style diving stunt tonight, dressed it up nicely, a genuinely dangerous act. It still bores me, but well done. 11. Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., singer. Excellent staging, great Vegas-style set, didn't quite have it together on the song but it wasn't horrible. 12. Silhouettes, illusion dance troupe. They once again re-invented their act and it went reasonably well. The bit at the beginning was kind of crummy, and when they got to their main performance it didn't really have any of their signature illusions. If I had to vote for five the five I would vote for, from 1 to 5: Smage Bros. Fatally Unique Snap Boogie and just to see what they come up with next The Kinetic King Silhouettes

LAST EDITED ON 08-31-11 AT 00:32 AM (EST) i think the 5 best performances were
Smage Bros Snap Boogie Anna Graceman Landon Swank Landau Eugene After seeing WSDT 3 weeks in a row Fatally Unique became Fatally Boring. Yes they were better than WSDT but its still a copy whether intentional or a tragic coincidence i dont see them making the top 10 with WSDT already there. I dont see how the kinetic king can make a vegas show out of a 2 day setup for a 30 second performance. ditto for prof splash. Voting for them seems like a waste of time. I dont really get silhouettes their main draw seems to be that they have a lot of little kids. They spelled out something tonight but it was so quick and had people dancing in front of it i couldn't even read it. Its seems to be a combo of heartstring messages and little kids that keep them going. I really hope people dont vote for them there are so many better acts that deserve it more. Sumerwind and Gymkana's performances speak for themselves. They messed up big and they are going home. They probably would have went home anyways their routines are way to repetitive and something that most people with any athletic talent could do with a little practice. Steven is just not my thing i dont enjoy looking at a guy shoving his junk in my face while hes on a pole.

I had a hard time coming up with 5 this week.01. The Kinetic King – I enjoyed it. Really can’t see him winning 02. Fatally Unique – More of the same. Not bad but we have enough dancers. 03. Landon Swank – I like magicians and he’s the last one left. The performance was good, the trick not so much. But I have to vote for him. 04. Gymkana - Isn’t this the group that did the ladders? I liked that performance. This was not so good, especially the ending. 05. Summerwind Skippers – Not my thing and too many mistakes. 06. Snap Boogie – I agree with the general consensus, the additional dancers were distracting and he did not have his best night. Based on tonight he doesn’t get my vote. 07. Anna Graceman – What can I say? She was great. I don’t like kids on this show but she passed. I didn’t think the song was too big for her. I think she did a real good job. And she’s SO cute. “Thank you.” 08. Steven Retchless – Uh, no! 09. Smage Bros. – Great show, one slight mistake but no one mentioned it (one of the riders put his foot down at the end, a big no-no in trials). Nonetheless they made it. Rad Grandma was a nice addition. 10. Professor Splash – I just can’t see this going on. As I jokingly mentioned last week, the Professor and the King should get together. I’m actually somewhat serious this time. 11. Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. – Good singer, nice background (family) story. His first performance was probably his best due to the absolute surprise factor. NO ONE expected that kind of performace. We’re used to it now but he’s still good. 12. Silhouettes – Wouldn’t have made it to the top 5 last week but I needed a fifth, so they get it by default. Top 5, in no particular order: Landon Swank Anna Graceman Smage Bros. Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. Silhouettes Honorable Mention: The Kinetic King – I do want to see more. I just don’t think he has a chance.

Gymkana. Yeah, they did the stuff with ladders in the Youtube show, it was thrilling and different. This week even if everything had gone off as planned it just wasn't interesting, flip flip flip flip flip flip...Anna. Well, she has taken risks with her song choices from the very beginning, but singing a song about going home sweet home in an AGT semi? The cynic in me was going "no no no no!" She was bringing it home by the end. Next time she should consider just singing, the piano is holding her back I think. Smages. That was a mistake? I never would have known. Snap. Didn't quite have the same wow as before, and the choreography was horrible; I'll throw him a lifeline. Landau. If the lifeline goes to him instead, okay by me, for having a bad night he was still pretty good.

And yep, putting your foot down in trials is bad. ”the competitor is scored by an observer (hence the sport's name) who counts how many times the competitor touches the ground with the foot (or any other part of the body). Each time a competitor touches the ground with a foot (commonly called "dabs" or "prods"), the penalty is one point.” Snap didn’t work for me and I can’t see him put together a “show.” Landau certainly could but I wouldn’t go see it. He’s good but one or 2 songs is enough for me. Once you get past the visual incongruity of a black guy in dreadlocks singing Sinatra, he becomes just a very good lounge singer (and I don’t mean that in a disparaging way, it’s just not my cup of tea)

I am just not feeling the love for the zombie acts. Don't get it, don't like it, will not vote for it. One time was ok, but whoever does it again, ick. Enough is enough. And that's all I'm going to say about that.I was incredibly disappointed in Silhouettes. They were so amazing the first few times I saw them, and last night? SO BAD! Even I could get a group of kids together and place cardboard on a ball to make it look like the earth. What WAS that?? They were just bad. Smage Bros. did make a few mistakes, but they are so fast and so scary that no one really picks up on them, or cares because they move quickly enough that you have to jump from one to another or you'll miss something. I don't care for that sort of act, but they do it well. My faves of the night, and who I would vote for: Landon Swank: not only is he adorable to look at, he's just a good magician. I liked his trick, even if it was sketchy. Still better than what I've seen before. Anna Grace: very composed, serious, and has the talent to back it. (not only that, they are both from Alaksa, my favorite state!!) Landau E. Murphy: another great vocalist. Don't know how far he's going to go, since he'll have a few other great talented singers to go up against. But that's up to America. Otherwise, I leave the rest up to you, America. Not worth letting my fingers do the walking for. Or a million dollars or a headlining act in Vegas, for that matter....Oh, and I agree with whomever said that Steven should put a few more clothes on. Paaaaleeease do. I know, hard to climb up a pole with trousers on. Ok, so stop it already.

41. "Results" |
LAST EDITED ON 08-31-11 AT 11:20 PM (EST)It was a surprising results show, I'll give America that. Pretty much everyone on the boards had a reason to cheer and a reason to cry. Illusion dance troupe Silhouettes received the good news first that they were going to the finals. It isn't the dancing, it is the unique nature of their act that has caught America's interest, they put on their weakest performance in the semi and still got through. Child singer Anna Graceman was second to receive the good news, America's newest sweetheart. Vegas-style singer Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., then received the surprisiing news that he had been voted through. Surprising because Nick pulled his meanest trick yet by letting Landau think he had been eliminated. The fourth act voted through to the finals by America, magician Landon Swank. Alaskans, you are well represented in the Finals this year, Anna and Landon are in the building! Along the way we said good-bye to the Kinetic King, Fatally Unique, Gymkana, Summerwind Skippers, Steven Retchless, and Professor Splash. That left the judges to decide between fifth and sixth place acts, dancer Snap Boogie, and motorcycle stunts team Smage Bros. Sharon spoke, Sharon and Piers fought, Sharon spoke some more, Sharon voted for Snap. Piers spoke and pointed out he would keep it short and eventually voted for the Smages. Left to break the tie and throw out the final lifeline of the season, between the self-trained guy who had made it there on his own receiving no lifelines, and the family act which is already a career and had equipments failures and falls overlooked, Howie threw the lifeline to the Smages.
