"7/26 East Coast Thread"
Ok, I guess I'll start this even though tonights show is over now. I suppose that says something about interest, but if anyone has anything to say, if not at least *I* can get something off my chest.....

---------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------

Well, this should be enough filler. Is it just me or were the judges smoing something tonight well they chose to send through this particular contestant? I mean, if she was 20 and came out with that kind of stuff would anyone be impressed?

It was cute and marginally entertaining, but nowhere NEAR worth $1M.

But, the four of us had a great time.

I SO agree. There were several other acts that deserved it way more than she did. She was cute, and she improved from last time (I couldn't believe she made it to the semifinals in the first place), but a million dollars? No way. What about the magician? What about Bianca?
I felt so bad for that stilt girl that fell. She's going to feel bad about that for a long time.

I LOVED the magician and voted for him about 40 times. Unfortunately (for me), I think that the kid is going to go through and granny will have taken a spot from a truly talented performer.

I have a real thing against kids in these shows - they are almost always measured by a different standard and passed through cause they are cute. Taylor Dane was unique but is Bianca a better singer than your average idol contestant?

I agree. I totally thought Grandma was a gimmick. No talent needed, no talent at all. I can't believe Piers thought she could win this thing.

The judges are so contradictory here. They slam the violinist girl and tell her she should stay in the background of the orchestra when she actually HAS talent and then tell the gimmicky grandma that she may win this thing???? WTF???? WTF???? Did I say WTF?????

They seem to be so hell-bent on getting a mixture of circus acts into the finale that they are overlooking the truly talented contestants.

I think many of these people are just that...Circus Acts...Not worthy of a million dollars.

Circus acts and street performers. That's exactly it. That's why none of the jugglers ever had a chance. Nobody pays money to go see a juggler. I couldn't believe it when all three judges were so complimentary toward Granny, either.

Yeah, I don't know about the granny, either. I never like that kind of thing, so whatever.

Last week the male judges were afraid to tell the truth to the untalented sister act - only Brandi told them to get lessons.

And why did they give checks to the girl who did "One Moment in Time" and went off-key everywhere, but X's to the one who did the Joplin tune?

Inconsistent.

I liked the stilt thing, but they made it easy for the judges to X them. Poor girl. She's going to feel miserable about that for a while.

I wasn't fond of the violinist, actually. Too squeaky, even if it was on purpose. But I won't deny she's more talented than most of the others.

See? I really liked the rapping granny! I guess this is just another example of our different perceptions (all of us here, not just you PRE).

Here's my current issue with the show: This is a talent show and there are too many singing acts! There are a kabillion other friggin' shows made just for singing acts! This show should be about other things! I try to figure out who or which acts most deserve a spot that could not fit on another show.

Bianca wasn't so stellar last night. She is certainly fabulous! ...but in a few years, she could certainly win something like American Idol, no? That's why my votes go to the magician! He blew me away! ...and I hope he is the one to move on.

I heartily agree on the singing acts - although I'm not sure I would put Taylor or the Millers specifically into that niche because their singing ability is not what made them stand out.

Loved the magician and voted magician for the past two weeks (although I fear to no avail. again.)

But, the four of us had a great time.

Agree! The Millers are unique because the talent lies with the young harmonica player and this wouldn't fit very well into a singing show. ...and with Taylor, well there are no shows for yodeling! Both of those acts definitely deserved a place in the finals!

*crosses fingers that the magician goes on*

In general I thought last nights show was weak. When they put that Granny in - my first thought was - they did that because they knew she wouldnt get enough votes. I think I hit the FF button on my TV for most of the acts. There were acts from last week that were way better then anyone from last night.

The Globetrotters-style basketball guys...Acrodunk, maybe?...were really great, too. Don't know about a million dollars, but I thought they were great. Certainly better than Granny.

So who did America vote thru? I'm hoping the magician. I forgot to vote for him.

I, too, am upset Granny was chosen by the judges. Cute but not worth a million dollars. She is a novelty act that will quickly grow old, no pun intended.

And I agree there should be no singing acts. The title of the show should be, America's Got Talent (except singing).

The winner of the million should be a huge, mind-blowing act!

Me, too. I definitely voted for him, but what is this 'wild card' that was mentioned last night? Perhaps he has a shot there.

Yes...it was truly a "JUMP THE SHARK" moment when the judges voted thru the Granny.

It really had potential up until that very moment. I fear its lost all credibility now. Why would you want to appear on a show who's judges thought an untalented old lady was the best act of the night??? I felt so bad for the many talented others who had to stand up there and be humiliated by that decision.

My 2-cents on the kid singers....GO BACK TO STAR SEARCH!!! HAHA! This show definitely should have excluded singers of ANY kind - but most of all little kids! As mentioned earlier, there are plenty of shows for singers. Did the producers believe they wouldn't have enought talent for a show without them???

I'm just glad for the exposure the other more unique acts are getting. A smart agent would get a bunch of them together and put on their own Vegas variety show!!!

Incidentally....the act I thought was the most unique and want to see more of is the "QUICK CHANGE" people. I've been to lots of places and lots of shows and have never seen anything like that before!

Kick out the kids and the grannies....WE WANT REAL TALENT!!!

The quick change artists have performed for the Chicago Bulls several times. It is really amazing and watching it on TV doesnt do it justice. They will be part of the 4th semi-finals show. The wild card show will include the top 4 vote getters that did not make the finals for each show. What is confusing is that they said - America will vote in 1 act and then each of the judges? or the judges vote in 1 - so we could see 2-4 more acts in the finals. I think this gives the tappers, the magician, and a few others a good shot.

Thanks SOLDIERSMOM!

The voting rules are confusing...and maybe even purposely so!

Nice to hear about the Quick Change Artists! I'd love to see them in person! It's gotta be the most original of all the acts I've seen on the show so far. Milllion Dollar act? I'm not so sure about that....but I love them just the same!
