Let's use this thread to discuss the 7/19 semifinal and 7/20 results show until the West Coast has a chance to see it. Looks like it's on for 2 hours again (8 to 10 EDT). I've got some things to do tonight, so won't be live posting, but figured I'd get the thread started. Y'all have fun! I'll catch up tomorrow when I only have to subject myself to a half hour recap and the voting results.

My guess is that is who the judges were trying to pick between, but I agree with Piers - this isn't Idol, send through someone other than OK (IMO) singers, that Simon wouldn't have even brought on to the Hollywood round.

I'll admit it. DH and I liked Leonid. His act on this program wasn't much, but when added to his previous appearance at least it's an act with some artistry. And, we're guessing that we've only seen a portion of what he can do. I could actually see him in some kind of Vegas venue with people paying to see him.
Other than the acrobats and, maybe (very maybe) the guy with the water glasses (a harmonium, I think it's called?) I don't see it for the others.
The singers were so-so, the pianist has other mainstream opportunities available to her as she grows and matures her talent. She doesn't belong on this show. The dude with the whip was incredibly lame, Hula Hoop girl wasn't much better, and while the lawnmower balance act was different, I can't see myself paying for tickets to watch.
But, I'll admit I missed lawnmower guy's first appearance, so maybe there's something there I just didn't get this time around.

First, my travel arrangements get all screwed up so that I completely miss last week. Then after I got home yesterday, funky local news sent our NBC affiliate into full-time coverage that lasted late into the evening.
So, here I sit with two weeks worth of summary-writing energy in my fingertips and no material to work with. Does anyone care? Should there be a weekly summary after the "results" show? Am I just talking to the bushes again?

Does anyone else think that "AT LAST" looks, acts and sings like the professional singing group called "G-O-D" from South Korea?
It really convinced me tonight when they sang " ANT NO SUNSHINE" !
Are professional acts allowed to compete?

I have never seen any South Korean singing groups, so I can't answer that for you.
...but I do know many of the performers have professional stage shows, so I don't think they have to be amateurs (i.e. non-money earners).

1. How many more of these semifinals shows are there? I want to see that girl who sang so well, the one that Piers told to get a new hair style and dress. How many semifinalists will there be all together?
2. I understand they "only have time for ten performers" and all, but what was the point of sending so many acts on if they weren't really going to get a chance?
3. You REALLY mean that Bobby Badfingers or Dave the Horn Guy was so freaking amazing that they had to get airtime, instead of some other act who didn't make it to air?
The whole show makes almost no sense.

36. "Answers!"

1. There are 4 weeks of semifinals (this was week 2). I think the girl is coming next week. I'm pretty sure I saw her in the previews.
2. With 4 weeks of semis and only enough time to show 10 acts a week, they had to narrow it down, I suppose. There were a total of 60 acts moving on. The judges narrow it down for the viewers to 40 total. I'm sure when they were in LA and chose a bunch of acts, they weren't reall sure how many they would get in NY & Chicago.
3. Did you watch the audition rounds? Some of those acts were horrid!!! Of course, the judges did send on some bad stuff too.
