I was doing some searching on Windfall online today and came across NBC's schedule for the upcoming year. TH is not on it. I guess it didn't work. I tried to check to see if they ever began shooting (or even casting) another one (TAR is usually shooting the next while one is airing) but couldn't find anything at all. Looks like it didn't survive the inevitable comparisons to TAR. Even without TAR in the background, this show has had some problems that would leave it struggling. Can anyone confirm this?

LAST EDITED ON 08-08-06 AT 06:12 AM (EST)I'd guess this wouldn't be a regular season show even if they keep it going. It would probably stay a summer replacement series, and for that they would have a lot of time to decide whether to do another show. None of the other summer shows are cast while the previous summer's show is still on the air like Hell's Kitchen or So you think you can dance. ETA: the futon critic site has no info about further shows, so I'm guessin no real decision has been made one way or the other. I also have not seen any release of summer schedule so far, and usually that is never released during the summer, they are too busy getting the regular schedule up and running and tweaked, they will worry about summer replacement series sometime around December or January or so which is when the announcements about these things usually come out.

Gotta say I agree with ECP, a rarity at that. TAR is much better for its locations and its contestants. The only thing THs does better is its clues.

I agree too.I very much enjoy the puzzles on this show. I like the interrelation of clues and items. For example, how Susan B. Anthony was looking at Lafayette in the statue garden. In the beginning, I was just looking for another TAR, but TH is different and I like it that way. It's clever and I'm interested in trying to solve the puzzles along with the contestants. I would think it would take a long time to get everything set up properly. Think of all the research involved! I wonder if they could do an El Dorado version in Mexico or something for another season. Or just a Wild West version. National Treasure was a great movie.

I'm definitely with you on this. TAR is better for locations. TH is much harder and challenging for clues. As far as contestants, I'm a bit torn. On TH, some of the 3 person teams were cool, but some were lame. The Browns were too big to compete. And the Scary Hanlons were just... freaky! But TAR has some lame teams, too, that actually make it to the end.I dunno - I can handle TH as a summer replacement for TAR. But I got a little tired of the americana theme. I mean, how are you going to market TH abroad if it's only about America. I am definitely looking forward to the finale, though. I just wanna see who wins. Go geniuses!

Kind of agree. I really like that they have to figure out clues to determine where to go next, and what to do when they get there. And, I really like the history that they're teaching. But, it would be nice to see more places outside the U.S., and maybe, just maybe, show that some people actually do have a clue about something that happened historically outside this country. I think the TAR reference is because of the first year of TAR, when they didn't automatically tell them where they were supposed to go, they had to figure it out. It's that mix of clues to unravel, travel to various world locations, dealing with different cultures and unfamiliar places, challenges (highlighting some feature of the landscape or culture) to overcome, and historical/cultural fact that I lvoe. Neither show has all of the features, but either could. And TAR came close in it's first year. Bunching vs. following? Both are annoying. I can enjoy both shows, and they can, imo, coexist in opposite seasons. But, a note about those challenges? If TAR keeps up what seems to be a recent competition with Fear Factor on grossest food challenges, turning national dishes and delicacies into a vomit fest? No, thanks. It's not only disgusting, it's disrespectful of the culture they're supposed to be highlighting. In that way, if no other, TH wins hands down. (But, I'd by far prefer that TAR get back on track and incorporate the pieces they lost that TH picked up, while losing the distasteful pieces they've adopted from shows like FF. I do like the international/cultural aspects, and I want the historical/cultural aspects reincorporated.) Pack Alpha Status Accorded by Tribe blogging's scary

I don't know what kind of rating TH has gotten, but I do know this: none of our friends or coworkers are watching this show. Too bad, since it's a pretty cool show.If they get another chance, the producers ought to consider the following: 1. Switch to team of two people. It's easier to identify with the teams that way. 2. Emphasize the huge cash payouts! Every week, a viewer has won $10k. The teams have won $30k and $50k (I think) along the way. Tonight a viewer will win $200k, and the winning team will get "millions". This could be the most lucrative reality show ever, but they aren't advertising it. 3. Don't dumb down the clues. TAR did this after season 1. So did The Mole. Big mistake. 4. I've enjoyed the American history theme to TH. If they get renewed, maybe the could try a PIRATE theme, or maybe a WWII theme (ala Raiders of the Lost Ark).
