"Thoughts on the team split option." |
I'm surprised nobody has started a thread to discuss the (possible) dumping of a team member and all that it entails.Just why would the producers decided to add that twist of dropping one team member? When you think about it, anyone who does get cut out of the hunt (if any, we don't really know yet) will be so upset, it could easily ruin the relationship forever. I know there are some players who probably can't go the whole way to the end because it's too much for that person. However, being left behind and not knowing if they qualify for a share of the treasure if their team finds it, could make anyone flip. Also knowing your team would rather kick you out than risk elimination is bad enough, but put it on TV for the world to see really sucks. So why would that twist be included? It would almost set up the other two members for a trip to court - I'm sure anyone who gets cut out could consider suing them - they all signed up for the hunt together, who are they to decide that one isn't worthy of going on to the end... etc etc etc. Giving 2 the chance to win at the expense of one member seems strange, unless there's a reason for it, something that might tie in later on. (see below) Another thing I've been wondering about. .. IF a team does decide to leave a member behind, does that person get to share in the prize if the team finds it first? There are all kinds of questions that pop up with a team split. "What if" ... there's another team split farther down the road, say the last 2 or 3 legs? Split up if you want, if you think you can manage better on your own, figure out the clues by yourself and not have to share the prize. Or stay together and have 2 (or 3) people working on the clues, but you have to share the prize in the end. Having the whole team get the option of splitting and going it alone later on might just offset the problems of the earlier split? Having the teams split again later on would be fun, at least for me watching the show.

I think it's a cool twist. On other shows, peopl always quantify a vote with ,"I had to vote for somebody." I doubt the producers thought anyone would use it, or it may have been invented on the fly to keep a 2nd team from dropping out due to injury. I'm thinking the next leg will have an exhausting multiperson task that will eliminate and team that uses that option as punishment or, more likely, it's just a fake out to create tension on a team (ie. the abandoned player is waiting at the next hotel, and he's POed).

I just never understood where they went after they dropped off a team member. Did they just ride around making a decision? I hope they don't include this option in any future shows.

Was it a different boat that would hold 3 people, then? And did anyone not come back for their team member?
